Jeremiah 30

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
1 Palavra que, da parte do SENHOR, veio a Jeremias, dizendo:
2 The Lord, the God of Israel, has said, Put down in a book all the words which I have said to you.
2 Assim fala o SENHOR, Deus de Israel, dizendo: Escreve num livro todas as palavras que te tenho dito.
3 For see, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will let the fate of my people Israel and Judah be changed, says the Lord: and I will make them come back to the land which I gave to their fathers, so that they may take it for their heritage.
3 Porque eis que dias vêm, diz o SENHOR, em que farei tornar do cativeiro o meu povo de Israel e de Judá, diz o SENHOR; e torná-los-ei a trazer à terra que dei a seus pais, e a possuirão.
4 And these are the words which the Lord said about Israel and about Judah.
4 E estas são as palavras que disse o SENHOR acerca de Israel e de Judá:
5 This is what the Lord has said: A voice of shaking fear has come to our ears, of fear and not of peace.
5 Assim diz o SENHOR: Ouvimos uma voz de tremor, de temor, mas não de paz.
6 Put the question and see if it is possible for a man to have birth-pains: why do I see every man with his hands gripping his sides, as a woman does when the pains of birth are on her, and all faces are turned green?
6 Perguntai, pois, e vede se um homem tem dores de parto. Por que, pois, vejo a cada homem com as mãos sobre os lombos, como a que está dando à luz? E por que se têm tornado macilentos todos os rostos?
7 Ha! for that day is so great that there is no day like it: it is the time of Jacob’s trouble: but he will get salvation from it.
7 Ah! Porque aquele dia é tão grande, que não houve outro semelhante! E é tempo de angústia para Jacó; ele, porém, será salvo dela.
8 For it will come about on that day, says the Lord of armies, that his yoke will be broken off his neck, and his bands will be burst; and men of strange lands will no longer make use of him as their servant:
8 Porque será naquele dia, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, que eu quebrarei o seu jugo de sobre o teu pescoço e quebrarei as tuas ataduras; e nunca mais se servirão dele os estranhos,
9 But they will be servants to the Lord their God and to David their king, whom I will give back to them.
9 mas servirão ao SENHOR, seu Deus, como também a Davi, seu rei, que lhes levantarei.
10 So have no fear, O Jacob, my servant, says the Lord; and do not be troubled, O Israel: for see, I will make you come back from far away, and your seed from the land where they are prisoners; and Jacob will come back, and will be quiet and at peace, and no one will give him cause for fear.
10 Não temas, pois, tu, meu servo Jacó, diz o SENHOR, nem te espantes, ó Israel; porque eis que te livrarei das terras de longe, e a tua descendência, da terra do seu cativeiro; e Jacó tornará, e descansará, e ficará em sossego, e não haverá quem o atemorize.
11 For I am with you, says the Lord, to be your saviour: for I will put an end to all the nations where I have sent you wandering, but I will not put an end to you completely: though with wise purpose I will put right your errors, and will not let you go quite without punishment.
11 Porque eu sou contigo, diz o SENHOR, para te salvar, porquanto darei fim a todas as nações entre as quais te espalhei; a ti, porém, não darei fim, mas castigar-te-ei com medida e, de todo, não te terei por inocente.
12 For the Lord has said, Your disease may not be made well and your wound is bitter.
12 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Teu quebrantamento é mortal, e a tua chaga é dolorosa.
13 There is no help for your wound, there is nothing to make you well.
13 Não há quem defenda a tua causa; para que possas ser curado, não tens remédios nem emplasto.
14 Your lovers have no more thought for you, they go after you no longer; for I have given you the wound of a hater, even cruel punishment;
14 Todos os teus amantes se esqueceram de ti e não perguntam por ti; porque te feri com ferida de inimigo e com castigo de cruel, pela grandeza de tua maldade e multidão de teus pecados.
15 Why are you crying for help because of your wound? for your pain may never be taken away: because your evil-doing was so great and because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you.
15 Por que gritas em razão de teu quebrantamento? Tua dor é mortal. Pela grandeza de tua maldade e pela multidão de teus pecados, eu fiz estas coisas.
16 For this cause, all those who take you for their food will themselves become your food; and all your attackers, every one of them, will be taken prisoners; and those who send destruction on you will come to destruction; and all those who take away your goods by force will undergo the same themselves.
16 Mas também todos os que te devoram serão devorados; e todos os teus adversários irão, todos eles, para o cativeiro; e os que te roubam serão roubados, e a todos os que te despojam entregarei ao saque.
17 For I will make you healthy again and I will make you well from your wounds, says the Lord; because they have given you the name of an outlaw, saying, It is Zion cared for by no man.
17 Porque restaurarei a tua saúde e sararei as tuas chagas, diz o SENHOR; pois te chamam a enjeitada, dizendo: É Sião, por quem ninguém pergunta.
18 The Lord has said, See, I am changing the fate of the tents of Jacob, and I will have pity on his houses; the town will be put up on its hill, and the great houses will be living-places again.
18 Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que acabarei o cativeiro das tendas de Jacó e apiedar-me-ei das suas moradas; e a cidade será reedificada sobre o seu montão, e o palácio permanecerá como habitualmente.
19 And from them will go out praise and the sound of laughing: and I will make them great in number, and they will not become less; and I will give them glory, and they will not be small.
19 E sairá deles o louvor e a voz de júbilo; e multiplicá-los-ei, e não serão diminuídos; e glorificá-los-ei, e não serão humilhados.
20 And their children will be as they were in the old days, and the meeting of the people will have its place before me, and I will send punishment on all who are cruel to them.
20 E seus filhos serão como na antiguidade, e a sua congregação será confirmada perante o meu rosto; e punirei todos os seus opressores.
21 And their chief will be of their number; their ruler will come from among themselves; and I will let him be present before me, so that he may come near to me: for who may have strength of heart to come near me? says the Lord.
21 E o seu príncipe será deles; e o seu governador sairá do meio deles, e o farei aproximar, e ele se chegará a mim; porque quem é aquele que se tem empenhado em se chegar a mim? —diz o SENHOR.
22 And you will be my people, and I will be your God.
22 E ser-me-eis por povo, e eu vos serei por Deus.
23 See, the storm-wind of the Lord, even the heat of his wrath, has gone out, a rolling storm, bursting on the heads of the evil-doers.
23 Eis que a tormenta do SENHOR, a sua indignação, saiu; é uma tormenta varredora e cairá cruelmente sobre a cabeça dos ímpios.
24 The wrath of the Lord will not be turned back till he has done, till he has put into effect, the purposes of his heart: in days to come you will have full knowledge of this.
24 Não voltará atrás o furor da ira do SENHOR, até que tenha executado e até que tenha cumprido os desígnios do seu coração; no fim dos dias, entendereis isto.

Jeremiah 31

1 At that time, says the Lord, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.
1 Naquele tempo, diz o SENHOR, serei o Deus de todas as gerações de Israel, e elas serão o meu povo.
2 The Lord has said, Grace came in the waste land to a people kept safe from the sword, even to Israel on the way to his resting-place.
2 Assim diz o SENHOR: O povo que escapou da espada encontrou graça no deserto; é Israel mesmo, quando eu o fizer descansar.
3 From far away he saw the Lord: my love for you is an eternal love: so with mercy I have made you come with me.
3 Há muito que o SENHOR me apareceu, dizendo: Com amor eterno te amei; também com amável benignidade te atraí.
4 I will again make new your buildings, O virgin of Israel, and you will take up your place: again you will take up your instruments of music, and go out in the dances of those who are glad.
4 Ainda te edificarei, e serás edificada, ó virgem de Israel! Ainda serás adornada com os teus adufes e sairás com o coro dos que dançam.
5 Again will your vine-gardens be planted on the hill of Samaria: the planters will be planting and using the fruit.
5 Ainda plantarás vinhas nos montes de Samaria; os plantadores plantarão e comerão dos frutos.
6 For there will be a day when those who get in the grapes on the hills of Ephraim will be crying, Up! let us go up to Zion to the Lord our God.
6 Porque haverá um dia em que gritarão os vigias sobre o monte de Efraim: Levantai-vos, e subamos a Sião, ao SENHOR, nosso Deus.
7 For the Lord has said, Make a glad song for Jacob and give a cry on the top of the mountains: give the news, give praise, and say, The Lord has given salvation to his people, even to the rest of Israel.
7 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Cantai sobre Jacó, com alegria; e exultai por causa do Chefe das nações; proclamai, cantai louvores e dizei: Salva, SENHOR, o teu povo, o resto de Israel.
8 See, I will take them from the north country, and get them from the inmost parts of the earth, and with them the blind and the feeble-footed, the woman with child and her who is in birth-pains together: a very great army, they will come back here.
8 Eis que os trarei da terra do Norte e os congregarei das extremidades da terra; e, com eles, os cegos, os aleijados, as mulheres grávidas e as de parto juntamente; em grande congregação, voltarão para aqui.
9 They will come with weeping, and going before them I will be their guide: guiding them by streams of water in a straight way where there is no falling: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is the first of my sons.
9 Virão com choro, e com súplicas os levarei; guiá-los-ei aos ribeiros de águas, por caminho direito, em que não tropeçarão; porque sou um pai para Israel, e Efraim é o meu primogênito.
10 Give ear to the word of the Lord, O you nations, and give news of it in the sea-lands far away, and say, He who has sent Israel wandering will get him together and will keep him as a keeper does his flock.
10 Ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, ó nações, e anunciai-a nas ilhas de longe, e dizei: Aquele que espalhou a Israel o congregará e o guardará, como o pastor, ao seu rebanho.
11 For the Lord has given a price for Jacob, and made him free from the hands of him who was stronger than he.
11 Porque o SENHOR resgatou a Jacó e o livrou das mãos do que era mais forte do que ele.
12 So they will come with songs on the high places, flowing together to the good things of the Lord, to the grain and the wine and the oil, to the young ones of the flock and of the herd: their souls will be like a watered garden, and they will have no more sorrow.
12 Hão de vir, e exultarão na altura de Sião, e correrão aos bens do SENHOR: o trigo, e o mosto, e o azeite, e os cordeiros, e os bezerros; e a sua alma será como um jardim regado, e nunca mais andarão tristes.
13 Then the virgin will have joy in the dance, and the young men and the old will be glad: for I will have their weeping turned into joy, I will give them comfort and make them glad after their sorrow.
13 Então, a virgem se alegrará na dança, e também os jovens e os velhos; e tornarei o seu pranto em alegria, e os consolarei, e transformarei em regozijo a sua tristeza.
14 I will give the priests their desired fat things, and my people will have a full measure of my good things, says the Lord.
14 E saciarei a alma dos sacerdotes de gordura, e o meu povo se fartará dos meus bens, diz o SENHOR.
15 So has the Lord said: In Ramah there is a sound of crying, weeping and bitter sorrow; Rachel weeping for her children; she will not be comforted for their loss.
15 Assim diz o SENHOR: Uma voz se ouviu em Ramá, lamentação, choro amargo; Raquel chora seus filhos, sem admitir consolação por eles, porque já não existem.
16 The Lord has said this: Keep your voice from sorrow and your eyes from weeping: for your work will be rewarded, says the Lord; and they will come back from the land of their hater.
16 Assim diz o SENHOR: Reprime a voz de choro, e as lágrimas de teus olhos, porque há galardão para o teu trabalho, diz o SENHOR; pois eles voltarão da terra do inimigo.
17 And there is hope for the future, says the Lord; and your children will come back to the land which is theirs.
17 E há esperanças, no derradeiro fim, para os teus descendentes, diz o SENHOR, porque teus filhos voltarão para o seu país.
18 Certainly Ephraim’s words of grief have come to my ears, You have given me training and I have undergone it like a young cow unused to the yoke: let me be turned and come back, for you are the Lord my God.
18 Bem ouvi eu que Efraim se queixava, dizendo: Castigaste-me, e fui castigado como novilho ainda não domado; converte-me, e converter-me-ei, porque tu és o SENHOR, meu Deus.
19 Truly, after I had been turned, I had regret for my ways; and after I had got knowledge, I made signs of sorrow: I was put to shame, truly, I was covered with shame, because I had to undergo the shame of my early years.
19 Na verdade que, depois que me converti, tive arrependimento; e, depois que me conheci, bati na minha coxa; fiquei confuso; sim, envergonhei-me, porque suportei o opróbrio da minha mocidade.
20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he the child of my delight? for whenever I say things against him, I still keep him in my memory: so my heart is troubled for him; I will certainly have mercy on him, says the Lord.
20 Não é Efraim para mim um filho precioso, uma criança das minhas delícias? Porque, depois que falo contra ele, ainda me lembro dele solicitamente; por isso, se comove por ele o meu coração; deveras me compadecerei dele, diz o SENHOR.
21 Put up guiding pillars, make road signs for yourself: give attention to the highway, even the way in which you went: be turned again, O virgin of Israel, be turned to these your towns.
21 Ergue para ti marcos, levanta para ti pirâmides, aplica o coração à vereda, ao caminho em que andaste; regressa, ó virgem de Israel, regressa a estas tuas cidades.
22 How long will you go on turning this way and that, O wandering daughter? for the Lord has made a new thing on the earth, a woman changed into a man.
22 Até quando andarás errante, ó filha rebelde? Porque o SENHOR criou uma coisa nova na terra: uma mulher cercará um varão.
23 So the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said, Again will these words be used in the land of Judah and in its towns, when I have let their fate be changed: May the blessing of the Lord be on you, O resting-place of righteousness, O holy mountain.
23 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Ainda dirão esta palavra na terra de Judá e nas suas cidades, quando eu acabar o seu cativeiro: O SENHOR te abençoe, ó morada de justiça, ó monte de santidade!
24 And Judah and all its towns will be living there together; the farmers and those who go about with flocks.
24 E nela habitarão Judá e todas as suas cidades juntamente, como também os lavradores e os que andam com o rebanho.
25 For I have given new strength to the tired soul and to every sorrowing soul in full measure.
25 Porque satisfiz a alma cansada, e toda a alma entristecida saciei.
26 At this, awaking from my sleep, I saw; and my sleep was sweet to me.
26 Sobre isto despertei e olhei, e o meu sono foi doce para mim.
27 See, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will have Israel and Judah planted with the seed of man and with the seed of beast.
27 Eis que dias vêm, diz o SENHOR, em que semearei a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá com a semente de homens e com a semente de animais.
28 And it will come about that, as I have been watching over them for the purpose of uprooting and smashing down and overturning and sending destruction and causing trouble; so I will be watching over them for the purpose of building up and planting, says the Lord.
28 E será que, como velei sobre eles, para arrancar, e para derribar, e para transtornar, e para destruir, e para afligir, assim velarei sobre eles, para edificar e para plantar, diz o SENHOR.
29 In those days they will no longer say, The fathers have been tasting bitter grapes and the children’s teeth are put on edge.
29 Naqueles dias, nunca mais dirão: Os pais comeram uvas verdes, mas foram os dentes dos filhos que se embotaram.
30 But everyone will be put to death for the evil which he himself has done: whoever has taken bitter grapes will himself have his teeth put on edge.
30 Ao contrário, cada um morrerá pela sua iniqüidade, e de todo homem que comer uvas verdes os dentes se embotarão.
31 See, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new agreement with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah:
31 Eis que dias vêm, diz o SENHOR, em que farei um concerto novo com a casa de Israel e com a casa de Judá.
32 Not like the agreement which I made with their fathers, on the day when I took them by the hand to be their guide out of the land of Egypt; which agreement was broken by them, and I gave them up, says the Lord.
32 Não conforme o concerto que fiz com seus pais, no dia em que os tomei pela mão, para os tirar da terra do Egito, porquanto eles invalidaram o meu concerto, apesar de eu os haver desposado, diz o SENHOR.
33 But this is the agreement which I will make with the people of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my law in their inner parts, writing it in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they will be my people.
33 Mas este é o concerto que farei com a casa de Israel depois daqueles dias, diz o SENHOR: porei a minha lei no seu interior e a escreverei no seu coração; e eu serei o seu Deus, e eles serão o meu povo.
34 And no longer will they be teaching every man his neighbour and every man his brother, saying, Get knowledge of the Lord: for they will all have knowledge of me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord: for they will have my forgiveness for their evil-doing, and their sin will go from my memory for ever.
34 E não ensinará alguém mais a seu próximo, nem alguém, a seu irmão, dizendo: Conhecei ao SENHOR; porque todos me conhecerão, desde o menor deles até ao maior, diz o SENHOR; porque perdoarei a sua maldade e nunca mais me lembrarei dos seus pecados.
35 These are the words of the Lord, who has given the sun for a light by day, ordering the moon and stars for a light by night, who puts the sea in motion, causing the thunder of its waves; the Lord of armies is his name.
35 Assim diz o SENHOR, que dá o sol para luz do dia e as ordenanças da lua e das estrelas para luz da noite, que fende o mar e faz bramir as suas ondas; SENHOR dos Exércitos é o seu nome.
36 If the order of these things before me is ever broken, says the Lord, then will the seed of Israel come to an end as a nation before me for ever.
36 Se se desviarem estas ordenanças de diante de mim, diz o SENHOR, deixará também a semente de Israel de ser uma nação diante de mim, para sempre.
37 This is what the Lord has said: If the heavens on high may be measured, and the bases of the earth searched out, then I will give up the seed of Israel, because of all they have done, says the Lord.
37 Assim disse o SENHOR: Se puderem ser medidos os céus para cima, e sondados os fundamentos da terra para baixo, também eu rejeitarei toda a semente de Israel, por tudo quanto fizeram, diz o SENHOR.
38 See, the days are coming, says the Lord, for the building of the Lord’s town, from the tower of Hananel to the doorway of the angle.
38 Eis que dias vêm, diz o SENHOR, em que esta cidade será reedificada para o SENHOR, desde a torre de Hananel até à Porta da Esquina.
39 And the measuring-line will go out in front of it as far as the hill Gareb, going round to Goah.
39 E a linha de medir estender-se-á para diante, até ao outeiro de Garebe, e virar-se-á para Goa.
40 And all the valley of the dead bodies, and all the field of death as far as the stream Kidron, up to the angle of the horses’ doorway to the east, will be holy to the Lord; it will not again be uprooted or overturned for ever.
40 E todo o vale dos cadáveres e da cinza e todos os campos até ao ribeiro de Cedrom, até à esquina da Porta dos Cavalos para o oriente, serão consagrados ao SENHOR; não se arrancarão, nem se derribarão mais, eternamente.

Jeremiah 32

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the tenth year of Zedekiah, king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.
1 Palavra que veio a Jeremias, da parte do SENHOR, no ano décimo de Zedequias, rei de Judá; este ano foi o ano décimo oitavo de Nabucodonosor.
2 Now at that time the king of Babylon’s army was round Jerusalem, shutting it in: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the place of the armed watchmen, in the house of the king of Judah.
2 (Cercava, porém, então, o exército do rei da Babilônia a Jerusalém; e Jeremias, o profeta, estava encerrado no pátio da guarda que estava na casa do rei de Judá;
3 For Zedekiah, king of Judah, had had him shut up, saying, Why have you, as a prophet, been saying, The Lord has said, See, I will give this town into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;
3 porque Zedequias, rei de Judá, o tinha encerrado, dizendo: Por que profetizas tu, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que entrego esta cidade nas mãos do rei da Babilônia, e ele a tomará;
4 And Zedekiah, king of Judah, will not get away from the hands of the Chaldaeans, but will certainly be given up into the hands of the king of Babylon, and will have talk with him, mouth to mouth, and see him, eye to eye.
4 e Zedequias, rei de Judá, não escapará das mãos dos caldeus, mas, certamente, será entregue nas mãos do rei da Babilônia e com ele falará boca a boca, e os seus olhos verão os dele;
5 And he will take Zedekiah away to Babylon, where he will be till I have pity on him, says the Lord: though you are fighting with the Chaldaeans, things will not go well for you?
5 e ele levará Zedequias para a Babilônia e ali estará até que eu o visite, diz o SENHOR; e, ainda que pelejeis contra os caldeus, não ganhareis?)
6 And Jeremiah said, The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
6 Disse, pois, Jeremias: Veio a mim a palavra do SENHOR, dizendo:
7 See, Hanamel, the son of Shallum, your father’s brother, will come to you and say, Give the price and get for yourself my property in Anathoth: for you have the right of the nearest relation.
7 Eis que Hananel, filho de Salum, teu tio, virá a ti, dizendo: Compra para ti a minha herdade que está em Anatote, pois tens o direito de resgate para comprá-la.
8 So Hanamel, the son of my father’s brother, came to me, as the Lord had said, to the place of the armed watchmen, and said to me, Give the price and get my property which is in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin: for you have the nearest relation’s right to the heritage; so get it for yourself. Then it was clear to me that this was the word of the Lord.
8 Veio, pois, a mim Hananel, filho de meu tio, segundo a palavra do SENHOR, ao pátio da guarda, e me disse: Compra, agora, a minha herdade que está em Anatote, na terra de Benjamim, porque teu é o direito de herança, e tens o resgate; compra-a para ti. Então, entendi que isto era a palavra do SENHOR.
9 So I got for a price the property in Anathoth from Hanamel, the son of my father’s brother, and gave him the money, seventeen shekels of silver;
9 Comprei, pois, a herdade de Hananel, filho de meu tio, a qual está em Anatote; e pesei-lhe o dinheiro: dezessete siclos de prata.
10 And I put it in writing, stamping it with my stamp, and I took witnesses and put the money into the scales.
10 Subscrevi o auto e selei-o; ele foi confirmado por testemunhas, e pesei-lhe o dinheiro numa balança.
11 So I took the paper witnessing the business, one copy rolled up and stamped, and one copy open:
11 E tomei o auto da compra, tanto o que estava selado, conforme a lei e os estatutos, como o que estava aberto.
12 And I gave the paper to Baruch, the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, before the eyes of Hanamel, the son of my father’s brother, and of the witnesses who had put their names to the paper, and before all the Jews who were seated in the place of the armed watchmen.
12 E dei o auto da compra a Baruque, filho de Nerias, filho de Maaséias, perante os olhos de Hananel, filho de meu tio, e perante os olhos das testemunhas que subscreveram a escritura da compra e perante os olhos de todos os judeus que se assentavam no pátio da guarda.
13 And I gave orders to Baruch in front of them, saying,
13 E dei ordem a Baruque, perante os olhos deles, dizendo:
14 This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: Take these papers, the witness of this business, the one which is rolled up and stamped, and the one which is open; and put them in a vessel of earth so that they may be kept for a long time.
14 assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Toma estes autos, este auto de compra, tanto o selado como o aberto, e mete-os num vaso de barro, para que se possam conservar muitos dias;
15 For the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said, There will again be trading in houses and fields and vine-gardens in this land.
15 porque assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Ainda se comprarão casas, e campos, e vinhas nesta terra.
16 Now after I had given the paper to Baruch, the son of Neriah, I made my prayer to the Lord, saying,
16 E, depois que dei o auto da compra a Baruque, filho de Nerias, orei ao SENHOR, dizendo:
17 Ah Lord God! see, you have made the heaven and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm, and there is nothing you are not able to do:
17 Ah! Senhor JEOVÁ! Eis que tu fizeste os céus e a terra com o teu grande poder e com o teu braço estendido; não te é maravilhosa demais coisa alguma.
18 You have mercy on thousands, and send punishment for the evil-doing of the fathers on their children after them: the great, the strong God, the Lord of armies is his name:
18 Tu usas de benignidade com milhares e tornas a maldade dos pais ao seio dos filhos depois deles; tu és o grande e poderoso Deus cujo nome é SENHOR dos Exércitos,
19 Great in wisdom and strong in act: whose eyes are open on all the ways of the sons of men, giving to everyone the reward of his ways and the fruit of his doings:
19 grande em conselho e magnífico em obras; porque os teus olhos estão abertos sobre todos os caminhos dos filhos dos homens, para dar a cada um segundo os seus caminhos e segundo o fruto das suas obras.
20 You have done signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to this day, in Israel and among other men; and have made a name for yourself as at this day;
20 Tu puseste sinais e maravilhas na terra do Egito até o dia de hoje, tanto em Israel como entre os outros homens, e te criaste um nome, qual é o que tens neste dia.
21 And have taken your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders and with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, causing great fear;
21 E tiraste o teu povo de Israel da terra do Egito, com sinais, e com maravilhas, e com mão forte, e com braço estendido, e com grande espanto;
22 And have given them this land, which you gave your word to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;
22 e lhe deste esta terra que juraste a seus pais que lhes havias de dar; terra que mana leite e mel.
23 And they came in and took it for their heritage, but they did not give ear to your voice, and were not ruled by your law; they have done nothing of all you gave them orders to do: so you have made all this evil come on them:
23 E entraram nela e a possuíram, mas não obedeceram à tua voz, nem andaram na tua lei; tudo o que lhes mandaste que fizessem, eles não o fizeram; pelo que ordenaste lhes sucedesse todo este mal.
24 See, they have made earthworks against the town to take it; and the town is given into the hands of the Chaldaeans who are fighting against it, because of the sword and need of food and disease: and what you have said has taken place, and truly you see it.
24 Eis aqui os valados! Já vieram contra a cidade para tomá-la, e a cidade está dada nas mãos dos caldeus, que pelejam contra ela pela espada, e pela fome, e pela pestilência; e o que disseste se cumpriu, e eis aqui o estás presenciando.
25 And you have said to me, Give the money to get yourself a property, and have the business witnessed; though the town is given into the hands of the Chaldaeans.
25 Contudo, tu me disseste, ó SENHOR Deus: Compra para ti o campo por dinheiro e faze que o atestem testemunhas, embora a cidade esteja já dada nas mãos dos caldeus.
26 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,
26 Então, veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, dizendo:
27 See, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything so hard that I am unable to do it?
27 Eis que eu sou o SENHOR, o Deus de toda a carne. Acaso, seria qualquer coisa maravilhosa demais para mim?
28 So this is what the Lord has said: See, I am giving this town into the hands of the Chaldaeans and into the hands of Nebuchadrezzar, the king of Babylon, and he will take it:
28 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu entrego esta cidade nas mãos dos caldeus, e nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia; e ele tomá-la-á.
29 And the Chaldaeans, who are fighting against this town, will come and put the town on fire, burning it together with the houses, on the roofs of which perfumes have been burned to the Baal, and drink offerings have been drained out to other gods, moving me to wrath.
29 E os caldeus, que pelejam contra esta cidade, entrarão nela, porão fogo a esta cidade, e queimarão as casas sobre cujos terraços queimaram incenso a Baal e ofereceram libações a outros deuses, para me provocarem à ira.
30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done nothing but evil in my eyes from their earliest years: the children of Israel have only made me angry with the work of their hands, says the Lord.
30 Porque os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá não fizeram senão mal aos meus olhos, desde a sua mocidade; porque os filhos de Israel não fizeram senão provocar-me à ira com as obras das suas mãos, diz o SENHOR.
31 For this town has been to me a cause of wrath and of burning passion from the day of its building till this day, so that I put it away from before my face:
31 Porque para minha ira e para meu furor me tem sido esta cidade, desde o dia em que a edificaram até ao dia de hoje, para que a tirasse da minha presença,
32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to make me angry, they and their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem.
32 por todas as maldades dos filhos de Israel e dos filhos de Judá que fizeram, para me provocarem à ira, eles e os seus reis, os seus príncipes, os seus sacerdotes e os seus profetas, como também os homens de Judá e os moradores de Jerusalém.
33 And they have been turning their backs and not their faces to me: and though I was their teacher, getting up early and teaching them, their ears were not open to teaching.
33 E viraram para mim as costas e não o rosto; ainda que eu os ensinava, madrugando e ensinando-os, eles não deram ouvidos para receberem o ensino;
34 But they put their disgusting images into the house which is named by my name, making it unclean.
34 antes, puseram as suas abominações na casa que se chama pelo meu nome, para a profanarem.
35 And they put up the high places of the Baal in the valley of the son of Hinnom, making their sons and their daughters go through the fire to Molech; which I did not give them orders to do, and it never came into my mind that they would do this disgusting thing, causing Judah to be turned out of the way.
35 E edificaram os altos de Baal, que estão no vale do filho de Hinom, para fazerem passar seus filhos e suas filhas pelo fogo a Moloque, o que nunca lhes ordenei, nem subiu ao meu coração que fizessem tal abominação, para fazerem pecar a Judá.
36 And now the Lord, the God of Israel, has said of this town, about which you say, It is given into the hands of the king of Babylon by the sword and by need of food and by disease:
36 Por isso, agora, assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, acerca desta cidade, da qual vós dizeis: Já está dada nas mãos do rei da Babilônia, pela espada, e pela fome, e pela pestilência.
37 See, I will get them together from all the countries where I have sent them in my wrath and in the heat of my passion and in my bitter feeling; and I will let them come back into this place where they may take their rest safely.
37 Eis que eu os congregarei de todas as terras, para onde os houver lançado na minha ira, e no meu furor, e na minha grande indignação; e os tornarei a trazer a este lugar e farei que habitem nele seguramente.
38 And they will be my people, and I will be their God:
38 E eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus.
39 And I will give them one heart and one way, so that they may go on in the worship of me for ever, for their good and the good of their children after them:
39 E lhes darei um mesmo coração, e um mesmo caminho, para que me temam todos os dias, para seu bem e bem de seus filhos, depois deles.
40 And I will make an eternal agreement with them, that I will never give them up, but ever do them good; and I will put the fear of me in their hearts, so that they will not go away from me.
40 E farei com eles um concerto eterno, que não se desviará deles, para lhes fazer bem; e porei o meu temor no seu coração, para que nunca se apartem de mim.
41 And truly, I will take pleasure in doing them good, and all my heart and soul will be given to planting them in this land in good faith.
41 E alegrar-me-ei por causa deles, fazendo-lhes bem; e os plantarei nesta terra certamente, com todo o meu coração e com toda a minha alma.
42 For the Lord has said: As I have made all this great evil come on this people, so I will send on them all the good which I said about them.
42 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Como eu trouxe sobre este povo todo este grande mal, assim eu trarei sobre ele todo o bem que lhes tenho prometido.
43 And there will be trading in fields in this land of which you say, It is a waste, without man or beast; it is given into the hands of the Chaldaeans.
43 E comprar-se-ão campos nesta terra, da qual vós dizeis: Está deserta, sem homens nem animais; está dada nas mãos dos caldeus.
44 Men will get fields for money, and put the business in writing, stamping the papers and having them witnessed, in the land of Benjamin and in the country round Jerusalem and in the towns of Judah and in the towns of the hill-country and in the towns of the lowland and in the towns of the South: for I will let their fate be changed, says the Lord.
44 Comprarão campos por dinheiro, e subscreverão os autos, e os selarão, e farão que os atestem testemunhas na terra de Benjamim, e nos contornos de Jerusalém, e nas cidades de Judá, e nas cidades das montanhas, e nas cidades das planícies, e nas cidades do Sul; porque os farei voltar do seu cativeiro, diz o SENHOR.

Jeremiah 33

1 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was still shut up in the place of the armed watchmen, saying,
1 E veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, segunda vez, estando ele ainda encerrado no pátio da guarda, dizendo:
2 These are the words of the Lord, who is doing it, the Lord who is forming it, to make it certain; the Lord is his name;
2 Assim diz o SENHOR que faz isto, o SENHOR que forma isto, para o estabelecer (o seu nome): é SENHOR.
3 Let your cry come to me, and I will give you an answer, and let you see great things and secret things of which you had no knowledge.
3 Clama a mim, e responder-te-ei e anunciar-te-ei coisas grandes e firmes, que não sabes.
4 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, has said about the houses of this town and the houses of the kings of Judah, which have been broken down to make earthworks and…;
4 Porque assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, sobre as casas desta cidade e sobre as casas dos reis de Judá, que foram derribadas com os trabucos e à espada.
5 …and to make them full of the dead bodies of men whom I have put to death in my wrath and in my passion, and because of whose evil-doing I have kept my face covered from this town.
5 Eles entraram a pelejar contra os caldeus, mas para que os encha de cadáveres de homens, que feri na minha ira e no meu furor, porquanto escondi o rosto desta cidade, por causa de toda a sua maldade.
6 See, I will make it healthy and well again, I will even make them well; I will let them see peace and good faith in full measure.
6 Eis que eu farei vir sobre ela saúde e cura, e os sararei, e lhes manifestarei abundância de paz e de verdade.
7 And I will let the fate of Judah and of Israel be changed, building them up as at first.
7 E removerei o cativeiro de Judá e o cativeiro de Israel e os edificarei como no princípio;
8 And I will make them clean from all their sin, with which they have been sinning against me; I will have forgiveness for all their sins, with which they have been sinning against me, and with which they have done evil against me.
8 e os purificarei de toda a sua maldade com que pecaram contra mim e perdoarei todas as suas iniqüidades com que pecaram contra mim e com que transgrediram contra mim.
9 And this town will be to me for a name of joy, for a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth, who, hearing of all the good which I am doing for them, will be shaking with fear because of all the good and the peace which I am doing for it.
9 E esta cidade me servirá de nome de alegria, de louvor e de glória, entre todas as nações da terra que ouvirem todo o bem que eu lhe faço; e espantar-se-ão e perturbar-se-ão por causa de todo o bem e por causa de toda a paz que eu lhe dou.
10 This is what the Lord has said: There will again be sounding in this place, of which you say, It is a waste, without man and without beast; even in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem which are waste and unpeopled, without man and without beast,
10 Assim diz o SENHOR: Neste lugar (de que vós dizeis que está deserto, sem homens nem animais), nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, que estão assoladas, sem homens, sem moradores e sem animais, ainda se ouvirá
11 Happy sounds, the voice of joy, the voice of the newly-married man and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who say, Give praise to the Lord of armies, for the Lord is good, for his mercy is unchanging for ever: the voices of those who go with praise into the house of the Lord. For I will let the land come back to its first condition, says the Lord.
11 a voz de gozo, e a voz de alegria, e a voz de noivo, e a voz de esposa, e a voz dos que dizem: Louvai ao SENHOR dos Exércitos, porque bom é o SENHOR, porque a sua benignidade é para sempre; e a voz dos que trazem louvor à Casa do SENHOR; pois farei que torne o cativeiro da terra como no princípio, diz o SENHOR.
12 This is what the Lord of armies has said: Again there will be in this place, which is a waste, without man and without beast, and in all its towns, a resting-place where the keepers of sheep will make their flocks take rest.
12 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Ainda neste lugar que está deserto, sem homens e sem animais e em todas as suas cidades haverá uma morada de pastores que façam repousar o gado.
13 In the towns of the hill-country, in the towns of the lowland, and in the towns of the South and in the land of Benjamin and in the country round Jerusalem and in the towns of Judah, the flocks will again go under the hand of him who is numbering them, says the Lord.
13 Nas cidades das montanhas, e nas cidades das planícies, e nas cidades do Sul, e na terra de Benjamim, e nos contornos de Jerusalém, e nas cidades de Judá, ainda passará o gado pelas mãos dos contadores, diz o SENHOR.
14 See, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will give effect to the good word which I have said about the people of Israel and the people of Judah.
14 Eis que vêm dias, diz o SENHOR, em que cumprirei a palavra boa que falei à casa de Israel e à casa de Judá.
15 In those days and at that time, I will let a Branch of righteousness come up for David; and he will be a judge in righteousness in the land.
15 Naqueles dias e naquele tempo, farei que brote a Davi um Renovo de justiça, e ele fará juízo e justiça na terra.
16 In those days, Judah will have salvation and Jerusalem will be safe: and this is the name which will be given to her: The Lord is our righteousness.
16 Naqueles dias, Judá será salvo, e Jerusalém habitará seguramente; e este é o nome que lhe chamarão: O SENHOR É Nossa Justiça.
17 For the Lord has said, David will never be without a man to take his place on the seat of the kingdom of Israel;
17 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Nunca faltará a Davi varão que se assente sobre o trono da casa de Israel,
18 And the priests and the Levites will never be without a man to come before me, offering burned offerings and perfumes and meal offerings and offerings of beasts at all times.
18 nem aos sacerdotes levíticos faltará varão diante de mim, para que ofereça holocausto, e queime oferta de manjares, e faça sacrifício todos os dias.
19 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

20 The Lord has said: If it is possible for my agreement of the day and the night to be broken, so that day and night no longer come at their fixed times,
20 Assim diz o SENHOR: Se puderdes invalidar o meu concerto do dia, e o meu concerto da noite, de tal modo que não haja dia e noite a seu tempo,
21 Then my agreement with my servant David may be broken, so that he no longer has a son to take his place on the seat of the kingdom; and my agreement with the Levites, the priests, my servants.
21 também se poderá invalidar o meu concerto com Davi, meu servo, para que não tenha filho que reine no seu trono, como também com os levitas sacerdotes, meus ministros.
22 As it is not possible for the army of heaven to be numbered, or the sand of the sea measured, so will I make the seed of my servant David, and the Levites my servants.
22 Como não se pode contar o exército dos céus, nem medir-se a areia do mar, assim multiplicarei a descendência de Davi, meu servo, e os levitas que ministram diante de mim.
23 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,
23 E veio ainda a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, dizendo:
24 Have you taken note of what these people have said, The two families, which the Lord took for himself, he has given up? This they say, looking down on my people as being, in their eyes, no longer a nation.
24 Não tens visto o que este povo fala, dizendo: As duas gerações que o SENHOR elegeu, agora as rejeitou? E desprezam o meu povo, como se não fora já um povo diante deles.
25 The Lord has said, If I have not made day and night, and if the limits of heaven and earth have not been fixed by me,
25 Assim diz o SENHOR: Se o meu concerto do dia e da noite não permanecer, e eu não puser as ordenanças dos céus e da terra,
26 Then I will give up caring for the seed of Jacob and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will let their fate be changed and will have mercy on them.
26 também rejeitarei a descendência de Jacó e de Davi, meu servo, de modo que não tome da sua semente quem domine sobre a semente de Abraão, Isaque e Jacó; porque removerei o seu cativeiro e apiedar-me-ei deles.

Jeremiah 34

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, when Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth which were under his rule, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and all its towns, saying,
1 A palavra que do SENHOR veio a Jeremias quando Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e todo o seu exército, e todos os reinos da terra que estavam sob o domínio da sua mão, e todos os povos pelejavam contra Jerusalém e contra todas as suas cidades, dizendo:
2 The Lord, the God of Israel, has said, Go and say to Zedekiah, king of Judah, This is what the Lord has said: See, I will give this town into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will have it burned with fire:
2 Assim diz o SENHOR, Deus de Israel: Vai, e fala a Zedequias, rei de Judá, e dize-lhe: Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu entrego esta cidade nas mãos do rei da Babilônia, o qual a queimará.
3 And you will not get away from him, but will certainly be taken and given up into his hands; and you will see the king of Babylon, eye to eye, and he will have talk with you, mouth to mouth, and you will go to Babylon.
3 E tu não escaparás das suas mãos; antes, decerto, serás preso e serás entregue nas suas mãos; e teus olhos verão os olhos do rei da Babilônia, e ele te falará boca a boca, e entrarás na Babilônia.
4 But give ear to the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah, king of Judah; this is what the Lord has said about you: Death will not come to you by the sword:
4 Todavia ouve a palavra do SENHOR, ó Zedequias, rei de Judá. Assim diz o SENHOR a teu respeito: Não morrerás à espada.
5 You will come to your end in peace; and such burnings as they made for your fathers, the earlier kings before you, will be made for you; and they will be weeping for you and saying, Ah lord! for I have said the word, says the Lord.
5 Em paz morrerás, e, conforme as incinerações de teus pais, os reis precedentes, que foram antes de ti, assim te queimarão a ti e prantear-te-ão, dizendo: Ah! Senhor! Porque sou eu que digo a palavra, diz o SENHOR.
6 Then Jeremiah the prophet said all these things to Zedekiah, king of Judah, in Jerusalem,
6 E anunciou Jeremias, o profeta, a Zedequias, rei de Judá, todas estas palavras, em Jerusalém,
7 When the army of the king of Babylon was fighting against Jerusalem and against all the towns of Judah which had not been taken, against Lachish and against Azekah; for these were the last of the walled towns of Judah.
7 quando o exército do rei da Babilônia pelejava contra Jerusalém, contra todas as cidades de Judá que ficaram de resto, contra Laquis e contra Azeca; porque estas fortes cidades foram as que ficaram dentre as cidades de Judá.
8 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after King Zedekiah had made an agreement with all the people in Jerusalem, to give news in public that servants were to be made free;
8 A palavra que do SENHOR veio a Jeremias, depois que o rei Zedequias fez concerto com todo o povo que havia em Jerusalém, para lhes apregoar a liberdade:
9 That every man was to let his Hebrew man-servant and his Hebrew servant-girl go free; so that no one might make use of a Jew, his countryman, as a servant:
9 que cada um despedisse forro o seu servo e cada um, a sua serva, hebreu ou hebréia, de maneira que ninguém se fizesse servir deles, sendo judeus, seus irmãos.
10 And this was done by all the rulers and the people who had taken part in the agreement, and every one let his man-servant and his servant-girl go free, not to be used as servants any longer; they did so, and let them go.
10 E ouviram todos os príncipes e todo o povo que entrou no concerto que cada um despedisse forro o seu servo e cada um, a sua serva, de maneira que não se fizessem mais servir deles; ouviram, pois, e os soltaram.
11 But later, they took back again the servants and the servant-girls whom they had let go free, and put them again under the yoke as servants and servant-girls.
11 Mas, depois, se arrependeram, e fizeram voltar os servos e as servas que tinham libertado, e os sujeitaram por servos e por servas.
12 For this reason the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

13 The Lord, the God of Israel, has said, I made an agreement with your fathers on the day when I took them out of Egypt, out of the prison-house, saying,

14 At the end of seven years every man is to let go his countryman who is a Hebrew, who has become yours for a price and has been your servant for six years; you are to let him go free: but your fathers gave no attention and did not give ear.
14 Ao fim de sete anos libertareis cada um a seu irmão hebreu que te for vendido a ti e te houver servido a ti seis anos; e despedi-lo-ás forro de ti; mas vossos pais me não ouviram, nem inclinaram os ouvidos.
15 And now, turning away from evil, you had done what is right in my eyes, giving a public undertaking for every man to make his neighbour free; and you had made an agreement before me in the house which is named by my name:
15 E vos havíeis, hoje, convertido e tínheis feito o que é reto aos meus olhos, apregoando liberdade cada um ao seu próximo; e tínheis feito diante de mim um concerto, na casa que se chama pelo meu nome.
16 But again you have put shame on my name, and you have taken back, every one his man-servant and his servant-girl, whom you had sent away free, and you have put them under the yoke again to be your servants and servant-girls.
16 Mudastes, porém, e profanastes o meu nome, e fizestes voltar cada um ao seu servo, e cada um, à sua serva, os quais já tínheis despedido forros, conforme a sua vontade; e os sujeitastes, para que se vos fizessem servos e servas.
17 And so the Lord has said, You have not given ear to me and undertaken publicly, every man to let loose his countryman and his neighbour: see, I undertake to let loose against you the sword and disease and need of food; and I will send you wandering among all the kingdoms of the earth.
17 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR: Vós não me ouvistes a mim, para apregoardes a liberdade, cada um ao seu irmão e cada um ao seu próximo; pois eis que eu vos apregôo a liberdade, diz o SENHOR, para a espada, para a pestilência e para a fome; e dar-vos-ei por espanto a todos os reinos da terra.
18 And I will give the men who have gone against my agreement and have not given effect to the words of the agreement which they made before me, when the ox was cut in two and they went between the parts of it,
18 E entregarei os homens que traspassaram o meu concerto, que não confirmaram as palavras do concerto, como eles fizeram diante de mim com o bezerro que dividiram em duas partes, passando pelo meio das duas porções.
19 The rulers of Judah and the rulers of Jerusalem, the unsexed servants and the priests and all the people of the land who went between the parts of the ox,
19 Os príncipes de Judá, e os príncipes de Jerusalém, e os eunucos, e os sacerdotes, e todo o povo da terra que passou por meio das porções do bezerro,
20 Even these I will give up into the hands of their haters and into the hands of those who have designs against their lives: and their dead bodies will become food for the birds of heaven and the beasts of the earth.
20 entregá-los-ei, digo, nas mãos de seus inimigos e nas mãos dos que procuram a sua morte, e os cadáveres deles servirão de mantimento às aves dos céus e aos animais da terra.
21 And Zedekiah, king of Judah, and his rulers I will give into the hands of their haters and into the hands of those who have designs against their lives, and into the hands of the king of Babylon’s army which has gone away from you.
21 E até o rei Zedequias, rei de Judá, e seus príncipes entregarei nas mãos de seus inimigos e nas mãos dos que procuram a sua morte, e nas mãos do exército do rei da Babilônia, que já se retirou de vós.
22 See, I will give orders, says the Lord, and make them come back to this town; and they will make war on it and take it and have it burned with fire: and I will make the towns of Judah waste and unpeopled.
22 Eis que eu darei ordem, diz o SENHOR, e os farei tornar a esta cidade, e pelejarão contra ela, e a tomarão, e a queimarão; e as cidades de Judá porei em assolação, de sorte que ninguém habite nelas.

Jeremiah 35

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,
1 Palavra que do SENHOR veio a Jeremias, nos dias de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, dizendo:
2 Go into the house of the Rechabites, and have talk with them, and take them into the house of the Lord, into one of the rooms, and give them wine.
2 Vai à casa dos recabitas, e fala com eles, e leva-os à Casa do SENHOR, a uma das câmaras, e dá-lhes vinho a beber.
3 Then I took Jaazaniah, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers and all his sons and all the Rechabites;
3 Então, tomei a Jazanias, filho de Jeremias, filho de Habazinias, e a seus irmãos, e a todos os seus filhos, e a toda a casa dos recabitas;
4 And I took them into the house of the Lord, into the room of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was near the rulers’ room, which was over the room of Maaseiah, the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door;
4 e os levei à Casa do SENHOR, à câmara dos filhos de Hanã, filho de Jigdalias, homem de Deus, que está junto à câmara dos príncipes, que está sobre a câmara de Maaséias, filho de Salum, guarda do vestíbulo;
5 And I put before the sons of the Rechabites basins full of wine and cups, and I said to them, Take some wine.
5 e pus diante dos filhos da casa dos recabitas taças cheias de vinho e copos e disse-lhes: Bebei vinho.
6 But they said, We will take no wine: for Jonadab, the son of Rechab our father, gave us orders, saying, You are to take no wine, you or your sons, for ever:
6 Mas eles disseram: Não beberemos vinho, porque Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, nosso pai, nos mandou, dizendo: Nunca bebereis vinho, nem vós nem vossos filhos;
7 And you are to make no houses, or put in seed, or get vine-gardens planted, or have any: but all your days you are to go on living in tents, so that you may have a long life in the land where you are living as in a strange country.
7 não edificareis casa, nem semeareis semente, não plantareis, nem possuireis vinha alguma; mas habitareis em tendas todos os vossos dias, para que vivais muitos dias sobre a face da terra em que vós andais peregrinando.
8 And we have kept the rules of Jonadab, the son of Rechab our father, in everything which he gave us orders to do, drinking no wine all our days, we and our wives and our sons and our daughters;
8 Obedecemos, pois, à voz de Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, nosso pai, em tudo quanto nos ordenou; de maneira que não bebemos vinho em todos os nossos dias, nem nós, nem nossas mulheres, nem nossos filhos, nem nossas filhas;
9 Building no houses for ourselves, having no vine-gardens or fields or seed:
9 nem edificamos casas para nossa habitação, nem temos vinha, nem campo, nem semente,
10 But we have been living in tents, and have done everything which Jonadab our father gave us orders to do.
10 mas habitamos em tendas. Assim, ouvimos e fizemos conforme tudo quanto nos mandou Jonadabe, nosso pai.
11 But when Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, came up into the land, we said, Come, let us go to Jerusalem, away from the army of the Chaldaeans and from the army of the Aramaeans: and so we are living in Jerusalem.
11 Sucedeu, porém, que, subindo Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, a esta terra, dissemos: Vinde, e vamo-nos a Jerusalém, por causa do exército dos caldeus e por causa do exército dos siros; e assim ficamos em Jerusalém.
12 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,
12 Então, veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, dizendo:
13 This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: Go and say to the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem, Is there no hope of teaching you to give ear to my words? says the Lord.
13 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Vai e dize aos homens de Judá e aos moradores de Jerusalém: Porventura, nunca aceitareis instrução, para ouvirdes as minhas palavras? —diz o SENHOR.
14 The orders which Jonadab, the son of Rechab, gave to his sons to take no wine, are done, and to this day they take no wine, for they do the orders of their father: but I have sent my words to you, getting up early and sending them, and you have not given ear to me.
14 As palavras de Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, que ordenou a seus filhos que não bebessem vinho, foram guardadas, pois não beberam até este dia; antes, ouviram o mandamento de seu pai; a mim, porém, que vos tenho falado a vós, madrugando e falando, vós não me ouvistes.
15 And I have sent you all my servants the prophets, getting up early and sending them, saying, Come back, now, every man from his evil way, and do better, and go not after other gods to become their servants, and you will go on living in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but your ears have not been open, and you have not given attention to me.
15 E vos enviei todos os meus servos, os profetas, madrugando, e enviando, e dizendo: Convertei-vos, agora, cada um do seu mau caminho, e fazei boas as vossas ações, e não sigais a outros deuses para servi-los; e assim ficareis na terra que vos dei a vós e a vossos pais; mas não inclinastes os ouvidos, nem me obedecestes a mim.
16 Though the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have done the orders of their father which he gave them, this people has not given ear to me:
16 Visto que os filhos de Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, guardaram o mandamento de seu pai, que ele lhes ordenou, mas este povo não me obedeceu,
17 For this reason the Lord, the God of armies, the God of Israel, has said, See, I will send on Judah and on all the people of Jerusalem all the evil which I said I would do to them: because I sent my words to them, but they did not give ear; crying out to them, but they gave no answer.
17 assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que trarei sobre Judá e sobre todos os moradores de Jerusalém todo o mal que falei contra eles; pois lhes tenho falado, e não ouviram; e clamei a eles, e não responderam.
18 But to the Rechabites Jeremiah said, This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: Because you have done the orders of Jonadab your father, and have kept his rules, and done everything as he gave you orders to do it;
18 E à casa dos recabitas disse Jeremias: Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Visto que obedecestes ao mandamento de Jonadabe, vosso pai, e guardastes todos os seus mandamentos, e fizestes conforme tudo quanto vos ordenou,
19 For this reason the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said, Jonadab, the son of Rechab, will never be without a man to take his place before me.
19 assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Nunca faltará varão a Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, que assista perante a minha face todos os dias.

Jeremiah 36

1 Now it came about in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
1 Sucedeu, pois, no ano quarto de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que veio esta palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, dizendo:
2 Take a book and put down in it all the words I have said to you against Israel and against Judah and against all the nations, from the day when my word came to you in the days of Josiah till this day.
2 Toma o rolo de um livro e escreve nele todas as palavras que te tenho falado sobre Israel, e sobre Judá, e sobre todas as nações, desde o dia em que eu te falei a ti, desde os dias de Josias até hoje.
3 It may be that the people of Judah, hearing of all the evil which it is my purpose to do to them, will be turned, every man from his evil ways; so that they may have my forgiveness for their evil-doing and their sin.
3 Ouvirão, talvez, os da casa de Judá todo o mal que eu intento fazer-lhes, para que cada qual se converta do seu mau caminho, e eu perdoe a sua maldade e o seu pecado.
4 Then Jeremiah sent for Baruch, the son of Neriah; and Baruch took down from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord which he had said to him, writing them in a book.
4 Então, Jeremias chamou a Baruque, filho de Nerias; e escreveu Baruque da boca de Jeremias todas as palavras do SENHOR, que ele lhe tinha revelado, no rolo de um livro.
5 And Jeremiah gave orders to Baruch, saying, I am shut up, and am not able to go into the house of the Lord:
5 E Jeremias deu ordem a Baruque, dizendo: Eu estou encerrado e não posso entrar na Casa do SENHOR.
6 So you are to go, reading there from the book, which you have taken down from my mouth, the words of the Lord, in the hearing of the people in the Lord’s house, on a day when they go without food, and in the hearing of all the men of Judah who have come out from their towns.
6 Entra, pois, tu e lê pelo rolo que escreveste da minha boca as palavras do SENHOR aos ouvidos do povo, na Casa do SENHOR, no dia de jejum; e também aos ouvidos de todo o Judá vindo das suas cidades as lerás.
7 It may be that their prayer for grace will go up to the Lord, and that every man will be turned from his evil ways: for great is the wrath and the passion made clear by the Lord against this people.
7 Pode ser que caia a sua súplica diante do SENHOR, e se converta cada um do seu mau caminho, porque grande é a ira e o furor que o SENHOR tem manifestado contra este povo.
8 And Baruch, the son of Neriah, did as Jeremiah the prophet gave him orders to do, reading from the book the words of the Lord in the Lord’s house.
8 E fez Baruque, filho de Nerias, conforme tudo quanto lhe havia ordenado Jeremias, o profeta, lendo naquele livro as palavras do SENHOR na Casa do SENHOR.
9 Now it came about in the fifth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that it was given out publicly that all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who came from the towns of Judah to Jerusalem, were to keep from food before the Lord.
9 E aconteceu, no ano quinto de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, no mês nono, que apregoaram jejum diante do SENHOR a todo o povo em Jerusalém, como também a todo o povo que vinha das cidades de Judá a Jerusalém.
10 Then Baruch gave a public reading of the words of Jeremiah from the book, in the house of the Lord, in the room of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher square, as one goes in by the new doorway of the Lord’s house, in the hearing of all the people.
10 Leu, pois, Baruque naquele livro as palavras de Jeremias na Casa do SENHOR, na câmara de Gemarias, filho de Safã, o escriba, no átrio superior, à entrada da Porta Nova da Casa do SENHOR, aos ouvidos de todo o povo.
11 And Micaiah, the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, after hearing all the words of the Lord from the book,
11 E, ouvindo Miquéias, filho de Gemarias, filho de Safã, todas as palavras do SENHOR, naquele livro,
12 Went down to the king’s house, to the scribe’s room: and all the rulers were seated there, Elishama the scribe and Delaiah, the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan, the son of Achbor, and Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah, the son of Hananiah, and all the rulers.
12 desceu à casa do rei, à câmara do escriba. E eis que todos os príncipes estavam ali assentados: Elisama, o escriba; e Delaías, filho de Semaías; e Elnatã, filho de Acbor; e Gemarias, filho de Safã; e Zedequias, filho de Hananias; e todos os outros príncipes.
13 Then Micaiah gave them an account of all the words which had come to his ears when Baruch was reading the book to the people.
13 E Miquéias anunciou-lhes todas as palavras que ouvira, lendo-as Baruque, pelo livro, aos ouvidos do povo.
14 So all the rulers sent Jehudi, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, Take in your hand the book from which you have been reading to the people and come. So Baruch, the son of Neriah, took the book in his hand and came down to them.
14 Então, todos os príncipes mandaram Jeudi, filho de Netanias, filho de Selemias, filho de Cusi, dizer a Baruque: O rolo que leste aos ouvidos do povo, toma-o nas tuas mãos, e vem. E Baruque, filho de Nerias, tomou o rolo nas suas mãos, e veio a eles.
15 Then they said to him, Be seated now, and give us a reading from it. So Baruch did so, reading it to them.
15 E disseram-lhe: Assenta-te, agora, e lê-o aos nossos ouvidos. E leu Baruque aos ouvidos deles.
16 Now it came about that, after hearing all the words, they said to one another in fear, We will certainly give the king an account of all these words.
16 E sucedeu que, ouvindo eles todas aquelas palavras, se voltaram temerosos uns para os outros e disseram a Baruque: Sem dúvida nenhuma, anunciaremos ao rei todas estas palavras.
17 And questioning Baruch, they said, Say now, how did you put all these words down in writing from his mouth?
17 E perguntaram a Baruque, dizendo: Declara-nos, agora, como escreveste da sua boca todas estas palavras.
18 Then Baruch, answering, said, He said all these things to me by word of mouth, and I put them down with ink in the book.
18 E disse-lhes Baruque: Com a sua boca, ditava-me todas estas palavras, e eu as escrevia, no livro, com tinta.
19 Then the rulers said to Baruch, Go and put yourself in a safe place, you and Jeremiah, and let no man have knowledge of where you are.
19 Então, disseram os príncipes a Baruque: Vai e esconde-te, tu e Jeremias, e ninguém saiba onde estais.
20 Then they went into the open square to the king; but the book they put away in the room of Elishama the scribe; and they gave the king an account of all the words.
20 E foram ter com o rei ao átrio; mas depositaram o rolo na câmara de Elisama, o escriba, e anunciaram aos ouvidos do rei todas aquelas palavras.
21 So the king sent Jehudi to get the book, and he took it from the room of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi gave a reading of it in the hearing of the king and all the rulers who were by the king’s side.
21 Então, enviou o rei a Jeudi, para que trouxesse o rolo; e Jeudi tomou-o da câmara de Elisama, o escriba, e leu-o aos ouvidos do rei e aos ouvidos de todos os príncipes que estavam em torno do rei.
22 Now the king was seated in the winter house, and a fire was burning in the fireplace in front of him.
22 (Estava, então, o rei assentado na casa de inverno, pelo nono mês; e estava diante dele um braseiro aceso.)
23 And it came about that whenever Jehudi, in his reading, had got through three or four divisions, the king, cutting them with his penknife, put them into the fire, till all the book was burned up in the fire which was burning in the fireplace.
23 E sucedeu que, tendo Jeudi lido três ou quatro folhas, cortou-o o rei com um canivete de escrivão e lançou-o ao fogo que havia no braseiro, até que todo o rolo se consumiu no fogo que estava sobre o braseiro.
24 But they had no fear and gave no signs of grief, not the king or any of his servants, after hearing all these words.
24 E não temeram, nem rasgaram as suas vestes o rei e todos os seus servos que ouviram todas aquelas palavras.
25 And Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made a strong request to the king not to let the book be burned, but he would not give ear to them.
25 Posto que Elnatã, e Delaías, e Gemarias tivessem pedido ao rei que não queimasse o rolo, ele não lhes deu ouvidos;
26 And the king gave orders to Jerahmeel, the king’s son, and Seraiah, the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah, the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the Lord kept them safe.
26 antes, deu ordem o rei a Jerameel, filho de Hameleque, e a Seraías, filho de Azriel, e a Selemias, filho de Abdeel, que prendessem Baruque, o escrivão, e Jeremias, o profeta. Mas o SENHOR tinha-os escondido.
27 Then after the book, in which Baruch had put down the words of Jeremiah, had been burned by the king, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,
27 Então, veio a Jeremias a palavra do SENHOR, depois que o rei queimara o rolo, com as palavras que Baruque escrevera da boca de Jeremias, dizendo:
28 Take another book and put down in it all the words which were in the first book, which Jehoiakim, king of Judah, put into the fire.
28 Toma ainda outro rolo e escreve nele todas as palavras que estavam no primeiro volume, o qual Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, queimou.
29 And about Jehoiakim, king of Judah, you are to say, This is what the Lord has said: You have put this book into the fire, saying, Why have you put in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come, causing the destruction of this land and putting an end to every man and beast in it?
29 E a Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, dirás: Assim diz o SENHOR: Tu queimaste este rolo, dizendo: Por que escreveste nele anunciando: Certamente, virá o rei da Babilônia, e destruirá esta terra, e fará cessar nela homens e animais?
30 For this reason the Lord has said of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, He will have no son to take his place on the seat of David: his dead body will be put out to undergo the heat of the day and the cold of the night.
30 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR acerca de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá: Não terá quem se assente sobre o trono de Davi, e será lançado o seu cadáver ao calor de dia e à geada de noite.
31 And I will send punishment on him and on his seed and on his servants for their evil-doing; I will send on them and on the people of Jerusalem and the men of Judah, all the evil which I said against them, but they did not give ear.
31 E visitarei sobre ele, e sobre a sua semente, e sobre os seus servos a sua iniqüidade; e trarei sobre ele, e sobre os moradores de Jerusalém, e sobre os homens de Judá todo aquele mal que lhes tenho falado sem que me ouvissem.
32 Then Jeremiah took another book, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who put down in it, from the mouth of Jeremiah, all the words of the book which had been burned in the fire by Jehoiakim, king of Judah: and in addition a number of other words of the same sort.
32 Tomou, pois, Jeremias outro rolo e o deu a Baruque, filho de Nerias, o escrivão, o qual escreveu nele, da boca de Jeremias, todas as palavras do livro que Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, tinha queimado; e ainda se acrescentaram a elas muitas palavras semelhantes.

Jeremiah 37

1 And Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, became king in place of Coniah, the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, made king in the land of Judah.
1 E reinou o rei Zedequias, filho de Josias, em lugar de Conias, filho de Jeoaquim, a quem Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, constituiu rei na terra de Judá.
2 But he and his servants and the people of the land did not give ear to the words of the Lord which he said by Jeremiah the prophet.
2 Mas nem ele, nem os seus servos, nem o povo da terra deram ouvidos às palavras do SENHOR que falou pelo ministério de Jeremias, o profeta.
3 And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal, the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Make prayer now to the Lord our God for us.
3 Contudo, mandou o rei Zedequias a Jucal, filho de Selemias, e a Sofonias, filho de Maaséias, o sacerdote, ao profeta Jeremias, para lhe dizerem: Roga, agora, por nós ao SENHOR, nosso Deus.
4 (Now Jeremiah was going about among the people, for they had not put him in prison.
4 E entrava e saía Jeremias entre o povo, porque não o tinham encerrado na prisão.
5 And Pharaoh’s army had come out from Egypt: and the Chaldaeans, who were attacking Jerusalem, hearing news of them, went away from Jerusalem.)
5 Contudo, o exército de Faraó saiu do Egito; ouvindo os caldeus que tinham sitiado Jerusalém esta notícia, retiraram-se de Jerusalém.
6 Then the word of the Lord came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
6 Então, veio a Jeremias, o profeta, a palavra do SENHOR, dizendo:
7 The Lord, the God of Israel, has said: This is what you are to say to the king of Judah who sent you to get directions from me: See, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to your help, will go back to Egypt, to their land.
7 Assim diz o SENHOR, Deus de Israel: Assim direis ao rei de Judá, que vos enviou a mim, para se informar: Eis que o exército de Faraó, que saiu em vosso socorro, voltará para a sua terra no Egito.
8 And the Chaldaeans will come back again and make war against this town and they will take it and put it on fire.
8 E voltarão os caldeus, e pelejarão contra esta cidade, e a tomarão, e a queimarão.
9 The Lord has said, Have no false hopes, saying to yourselves, The Chaldaeans will go away from us: for they will not go away.
9 Assim diz o SENHOR: Não enganeis a vossa alma, dizendo: Sem dúvida, se irão os caldeus de nós; porque não se irão.
10 For even if you had overcome all the army of the Chaldaeans fighting against you, and there were only wounded men among them, still they would get up, every man in his tent, and put this town on fire.
10 Porque, ainda que ferísseis a todo o exército dos caldeus que peleja contra vós, e ficassem deles apenas homens traspassados, cada um se levantaria na sua tenda e queimaria a fogo esta cidade.
11 And it came about that when the Chaldaean army outside Jerusalem had gone away for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
11 E sucedeu que, subindo de Jerusalém o exército dos caldeus, por causa do exército de Faraó,
12 Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, with the purpose of taking up his heritage there among the people.
12 saiu Jeremias de Jerusalém, a fim de ir à terra de Benjamim para receber a sua parte no meio do povo.
13 But when he was at the Benjamin door, a captain of the watch named Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, who was stationed there, put his hand on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You are going to give yourself up to the Chaldaeans.
13 Estando ele à porta de Benjamim, achava-se ali um capitão da guarda, cujo nome era Jerias, filho de Selemias, filho de Hananias, o qual prendeu a Jeremias, o profeta, dizendo: Tu foges para os caldeus.
14 Then Jeremiah said, That is not true; I am not going to the Chaldaeans. But he would not give ear to him: so Irijah made him prisoner and took him to the rulers.
14 E Jeremias disse: Isso é falso; não fujo para os caldeus. Mas ele não lhe deu ouvidos; e assim Jerias prendeu a Jeremias e o levou aos príncipes.
15 And the rulers were angry with Jeremiah, and gave him blows and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.
15 E os príncipes se iraram muito contra Jeremias, e o feriram, e o puseram na prisão, na casa de Jônatas, o escrivão; porque a tinham transformado em cárcere.
16 So Jeremiah came into the hole of the prison, under the arches, and was there for a long time.
16 Entrando, pois, Jeremias na casa do calabouço e nas suas celas, ficou ali Jeremias muitos dias.
17 Then King Zedekiah sent and got him out: and the king, questioning him secretly in his house, said, Is there any word from the Lord? And Jeremiah said, There is. Then he said, You will be given up into the hands of the king of Babylon.
17 E mandou o rei Zedequias soltá-lo. Então, o rei lhe perguntou em sua casa, em segredo, dizendo: Há alguma palavra do SENHOR? E disse Jeremias: Há. E disse ainda: Na mão do rei da Babilônia serás entregue.
18 Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, What has been my sin against you or against your servants or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
18 Disse mais Jeremias ao rei Zedequias: Em que tenho pecado contra ti, e contra os teus servos, e contra este povo, para que me pusésseis na prisão?
19 Where now are your prophets who said to you, The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land?
19 Onde estão, agora, os vossos profetas que vos profetizavam, dizendo: O rei da Babilônia não virá contra vós nem contra esta terra?
20 And now be pleased to give ear, O my lord the king; let my prayer for help come before you, and do not make me go back to the house of Jonathan the scribe, for fear that I may come to my death there.
20 Agora, pois, ó rei, meu senhor, caia a minha súplica diante de ti: não me deixes tornar à casa de Jônatas, o escriba, para que não venha a morrer ali.
21 Then by the order of Zedekiah the king, Jeremiah was put into the place of the armed watchmen, and they gave him every day a cake of bread from the street of the bread-makers, till all the bread in the town was used up. So Jeremiah was kept in the place of the armed watchmen.
21 Então, ordenou o rei Zedequias que pusessem Jeremias no átrio da guarda; e deram-lhe um bolo de pão cada dia, da rua dos padeiros, até que se acabou todo o pão da cidade. Assim, ficou Jeremias no átrio da guarda.

Jeremiah 38

1 Now it came to the ears of Shephatiah, the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah, the son of Pashhur, and Jucal, the son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur, the son of Malchiah, that Jeremiah had said to all the people,
1 Ouviu, pois, Sefatias, filho de Matã, e Gedalias, filho de Pasur, e Jucal, filho de Selemias, e Pasur, filho de Malquias, as palavras que anunciava Jeremias a todo o povo, dizendo:
2 These are the words of the Lord: Whoever goes on living in this town will come to his death by the sword or through need of food or by disease: but whoever goes out to the Chaldaeans will keep his life out of the power of the attackers and be safe.
2 Assim diz o SENHOR: Aquele que ficar nesta cidade morrerá à espada, à fome e de pestilência; mas quem for para os caldeus viverá; porque a sua alma lhe será por despojo, e viverá.
3 The Lord has said, This town will certainly be given into the hands of the army of the king of Babylon, and he will take it.
3 Assim diz o SENHOR: Esta cidade, infalivelmente, será entregue nas mãos do exército do rei da Babilônia, e ele a tomará.
4 Then the rulers said to the king, Let this man be put to death, because he is putting fear into the hearts of the men of war who are still in the town, and into the hearts of the people, by saying such things to them: this man is not working for the well-being of the people, but for their damage.
4 E disseram os príncipes ao rei: Morra este homem, visto que ele, assim, enfraquece as mãos dos homens de guerra que restam nesta cidade e as mãos de todo o povo, dizendo-lhes tais palavras; porque este homem não busca a paz para este povo, senão o mal.
5 Then Zedekiah the king said, See, he is in your hands: for the king was not able to do anything against them.
5 E disse o rei Zedequias: Eis que ele está na vossa mão, porque o rei nada pode contra vós.
6 So they took Jeremiah and put him into the water-hole of Malchiah, the king’s son, in the place of the armed watchmen: and they let Jeremiah down with cords. And in the hole there was no water, but wet earth: and Jeremiah went down into the wet earth.
6 Então, tomaram Jeremias e o lançaram no calabouço de Malquias, filho do rei, que estava no átrio da guarda; e desceram Jeremias com cordas; mas, no calabouço, não havia água, senão lama; e atolou-se Jeremias na lama.
7 Now it came to the ears of Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, an unsexed servant in the king’s house, that they had put Jeremiah into the water-hole; the king at that time being seated in the doorway of Benjamin:
7 Ouviu, pois, Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, um eunuco que, então, estava na casa do rei, que tinham metido a Jeremias no calabouço. Estava, porém, o rei assentado à Porta de Benjamim.
8 And Ebed-melech went out from the king’s house and said to the king,
8 Logo, Ebede-Meleque saiu da casa do rei e falou ao rei, dizendo:
9 My lord the king, these men have done evil in all they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have put into the water-hole; and he will come to his death in the place where he is through need of food: for there is no more bread in the town.
9 Ó rei, senhor meu, agiram mal estes homens em tudo quanto fizeram a Jeremias, o profeta, lançando-o no calabouço; decerto, morreria de fome no lugar onde se acha, pois não há mais pão na cidade.
10 Then the king gave orders to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Take with you three men from here and get Jeremiah out of the water-hole before death overtakes him.
10 Então, deu ordem o rei a Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, dizendo: Toma contigo daqui trinta homens e tira Jeremias, o profeta, do calabouço, antes que morra.
11 So Ebed-melech took the men with him and went into the house of the king, to the place where the clothing was kept, and got from there old clothing and bits of old cloth, and let them down by cords into the water-hole where Jeremiah was.
11 E tomou Ebede-Meleque os homens consigo, e foi à casa do rei, por debaixo da tesouraria, e tomou dali uns trapos velhos e rotos e roupas velhas em bocados, e desceu-os a Jeremias, no calabouço, por meio de cordas.
12 And Ebed-melech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, Put these bits of old cloth under your arms under the cords. And Jeremiah did so.
12 E disse Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, a Jeremias: Põe, agora, estes trapos velhos e rotos, já apodrecidos, nas covas dos teus braços, por debaixo das cordas. E Jeremias o fez assim.
13 So pulling Jeremiah up with the cords they got him out of the water-hole: and Jeremiah was kept in the place of the armed watchmen.
13 E puxaram a Jeremias com as cordas e o tiraram do calabouço; e ficou Jeremias no átrio da guarda.
14 Then King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah the prophet and took him into the rulers’ doorway in the house of the Lord: and the king said to Jeremiah, I have a question to put to you; keep nothing back from me.
14 Então, enviou o rei Zedequias e fez vir à sua presença Jeremias, o profeta, à terceira entrada, que estava na Casa do SENHOR; e disse o rei a Jeremias: Pergunto-te uma coisa; não me encubras nada.
15 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, If I give you the answer to your question, will you not certainly put me to death? and if I make a suggestion to you, you will not give it a hearing.
15 Disse Jeremias a Zedequias: Se eu ta declarar, com certeza, não me matarás? E, aconselhando-te eu, ouvir-me-ás?
16 So King Zedekiah gave his oath to Jeremiah secretly, saying, By the living Lord, who gave us our life, I will not put you to death, or give you up to these men who are desiring to take your life.
16 Então, jurou o rei Zedequias a Jeremias, em segredo, dizendo: Vive o SENHOR, que nos fez esta alma, que não te matarei, nem te entregarei nas mãos destes homens que procuram a tua morte.
17 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, These are the words of the Lord, the God of armies, the God of Israel: If you go out to the king of Babylon’s captains, then you will have life, and the town will not be burned with fire, and you and your family will be kept from death:
17 Então, Jeremias disse a Zedequias: Assim diz o SENHOR, Deus dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Se, voluntariamente, saíres, aos príncipes do rei da Babilônia, então, viverá a tua alma, e esta cidade não será queimada, e viverás tu e a tua casa.
18 But if you do not go out to the king of Babylon’s captains, then this town will be given into the hands of the Chaldaeans and they will put it on fire, and you will not get away from them.
18 Mas, se não saíres aos príncipes do rei da Babilônia, então, será entregue esta cidade nas mãos dos caldeus, e eles a queimarão, e tu não escaparás das mãos deles.
19 And King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, I am troubled on account of the Jews who have gone over to the Chaldaeans, for fear that they may give me up to them and they will put me to shame.
19 Então, disse o rei Zedequias a Jeremias: Receio-me dos judeus que se passaram para os caldeus; que me entreguem nas suas mãos e escarneçam de mim.
20 But Jeremiah said, They will not give you up: be guided now by the word of the Lord as I have given it to you, and it will be well for you, and you will keep your life.
20 Disse Jeremias: Não te entregarão; ouve, te peço, a voz do SENHOR, conforme a qual eu te falo; e bem te irá, e viverá a tua alma.
21 But if you do not go out, this is what the Lord has made clear to me:
21 Mas, se tu não quiseres sair, esta é a palavra que me mostrou o SENHOR.
22 See, all the rest of the women in the house of the king of Judah will be taken out to the king of Babylon’s captains, and these women will say, Your nearest friends have been false to you and have got the better of you: they have made your feet go deep into the wet earth, and they are turned away back from you.
22 Eis que todas as mulheres que ficaram na casa do rei de Judá serão levadas aos príncipes do rei da Babilônia, e elas mesmas dirão: Os teus pacificadores te incitaram e prevaleceram contra ti; e, agora, que se atolaram os teus pés na lama, eles voltaram atrás.
23 And they will take all your wives and your children out to the Chaldaeans: and you will not get away out of their hands, but will be taken by the hands of the king of Babylon: and this town will be burned with fire.
23 Assim, a todas as tuas mulheres e a teus filhos levarão aos caldeus, e tu não escaparás das suas mãos; antes, pela mão do rei da Babilônia, serás preso, e esta cidade ele queimará.
24 Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, Let no man have knowledge of these words, and you will not be put to death.
24 Então, disse Zedequias a Jeremias: Ninguém saiba estas palavras, e não morrerás.
25 But if it comes to the ears of the rulers that I have been talking with you, and they come and say to you, Give us word now of what you have said to the king and what the king said to you, keeping nothing back and we will not put you to death;
25 E, quando os príncipes, ouvindo que falei contigo, vierem a ti e te disserem: Declara-nos, agora, o que disseste ao rei; não no-lo encubras, e não te mataremos; e disserem também: Que te disse o rei?
26 Then you are to say to them, I made my request to the king, that he would not send me back to my death in Jonathan’s house.
26 Então, lhes dirás: Eu lancei a minha súplica diante do rei, para que não me fizesse tornar à casa de Jônatas, para morrer ali.
27 Then all the rulers came to Jeremiah, questioning him: and he gave them an answer in the words the king had given him orders to say. So they said nothing more to him; for the thing was not made public.
27 Vindo, pois, todos os príncipes a Jeremias e interrogando-o, declarou-lhes conforme todas as palavras que o rei lhe havia ordenado; e o deixaram, porque não se revelou o negócio.
28 So Jeremiah was kept in the place of the armed watchmen till the day when Jerusalem was taken.
28 E ficou Jeremias no átrio da guarda até o dia em que foi tomada Jerusalém e ainda ali estava quando foi tomada Jerusalém.

Jeremiah 39

1 And it came about, that when Jerusalem was taken, (in the ninth year of Zedekiah, king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, with all his army, came against Jerusalem, shutting it in on every side;
1 No ano nono de Zedequias, rei de Judá, no mês décimo, veio Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e todo o seu exército contra Jerusalém e a cercaram.
2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the town was broken into:)
2 No ano undécimo de Zedequias, no quarto mês, aos nove do mês, se fez a brecha na cidade.
3 All the captains of the king of Babylon came in and took their places in the middle doorway of the town, Nergal-shar-ezer, ruler of Sin-magir, the Rabmag, and Nebushazban, the Rab-saris, and all the captains of the king of Babylon.
3 E entraram todos os príncipes do rei da Babilônia, e pararam na Porta do Meio, os quais eram Nergal-Sarezer, Sangar-Nebo, Sarsequim, Rabe-Saris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabe-Mague, e todos os outros príncipes do rei da Babilônia.
4 And when Zedekiah, king of Judah, and all the men of war saw it, they went in flight from the town by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the doorway between the two walls: and they went out by the Arabah.
4 E sucedeu que, vendo-os Zedequias, rei de Judá, e todos os homens de guerra, fugiram, então e saíram de noite da cidade, pelo caminho do jardim do rei, pela porta dentre os dois muros; e saiu pelo caminho da campina.
5 But the Chaldaean army went after them and overtook Zedekiah in the lowlands of Jericho: and they made him a prisoner and took him up to Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, to Riblah in the land of Hamath, to be judged by him.
5 Mas o exército dos caldeus os perseguiu; e alcançaram Zedequias nas campinas de Jericó, e o prenderam, e o fizeram ir a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, a Ribla, na terra de Hamate, e ali o rei da Babilônia o sentenciou.
6 Then the king of Babylon put the sons of Zedekiah to death before his eyes in Riblah: and the king of Babylon put to death all the great men of Judah.
6 E o rei da Babilônia matou os filhos de Zedequias em Ribla, à sua vista; também matou o rei da Babilônia todos os nobres de Judá.
7 And more than this, he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and had him put in chains to take him away to Babylon.
7 E arrancou os olhos a Zedequias e o atou com duas cadeias de bronze, para levá-lo à Babilônia.
8 And the Chaldaeans put the king’s house on fire, as well as the houses of the people, and had the walls of Jerusalem broken down.
8 E os caldeus queimaram a casa do rei e as casas do povo e derribaram os muros de Jerusalém.
9 Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, took away to Babylon as prisoners, all the rest of the workmen who were still in the town, as well as those who had given themselves up to him, and all the rest of the people.
9 E o resto do povo que ficara na cidade, e os rebeldes que se tinham passado para ele, e o resto do povo que ficou levou Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, para Babilônia.
10 But Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, let the poorest of the people, who had nothing whatever, go on living in the land of Judah, and gave them vine-gardens and fields at the same time.
10 Mas os pobres de entre o povo, que não tinham nada, deixou Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, na terra de Judá; e deu-lhes vinhas e campos naquele dia.
11 Now Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, gave orders about Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, saying,
11 Mas Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, havia ordenado acerca de Jeremias, a Nebuzaradã, capitão dos da guarda, dizendo:
12 Take him and keep an eye on him and see that no evil comes to him; but do with him whatever he says to you.
12 Toma-o, e põe sobre ele os olhos, e não lhe faças nenhum mal; antes, como ele te disser, assim procederás para com ele.
13 So Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, sent Nebushazban, the Rab-saris, and Nergal-shar-ezer, the Rabmag, and all the chief captains of the king of Babylon,
13 Deste modo, Nebuzaradã, capitão dos da guarda, ordenou a Nebusazbã, Rabe-Saris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabe-Mague e todos os príncipes do rei da Babilônia.
14 And they sent and took Jeremiah out of the place of the watchmen, and gave him into the care of Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him to his house: so he was living among the people.
14 Mandaram retirar Jeremias do átrio da guarda e o entregaram a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, para que o levasse à sua casa; e ele ficou entre o povo.
15 Now the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the place of the armed watchmen, saying,
15 Ora, tinha vindo a Jeremias a palavra do SENHOR, estando ele ainda encerrado no átrio da guarda, dizendo:
16 Go and say to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: See, my words will come true for this town, for evil and not for good: they will come about before your eyes on that day.
16 Vai e fala a Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que eu trarei as minhas palavras sobre esta cidade para mal e não para bem; e se cumprirão diante de ti naquele dia.
17 But I will keep you safe on that day, says the Lord: you will not be given into the hands of the men you are fearing.
17 A ti, porém, eu livrarei naquele dia, diz o SENHOR, e não serás entregue nas mãos dos homens perante cuja face tu temes.
18 For I will certainly let you go free, and you will not be put to the sword, but your life will be given to you out of the hands of your attackers: because you have put your faith in me, says the Lord.
18 Porque, certamente, te salvarei, e não cairás à espada; mas a tua alma terás por despojo, porquanto confiaste em mim, diz o SENHOR.

Jeremiah 40

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him; for he had been put in chains, among all the prisoners of Jerusalem and Judah who were taken away prisoners to Babylon.
1 Palavra que veio a Jeremias, da parte do SENHOR, depois que Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, o deixou ir de Ramá, quando o tomou, estando ele atado com cadeias no meio de todos os do cativeiro de Jerusalém e de Judá, que foram levados cativos para a Babilônia;
2 And the captain of the armed men took Jeremiah and said to him, The Lord your God gave word of the evil which was to come on this place:
2 porque o capitão da guarda levou a Jeremias e lhe disse. O SENHOR, teu Deus, pronunciou este mal contra este lugar;
3 ***and the Lord has made it come, and has done as he said; because of your sin against the Lord in not giving ear to his voice; and that is why this thing has come on you.
3 e o SENHOR o trouxe e fez como tinha dito, porque pecastes contra o SENHOR e não obedecestes à sua voz; pelo que vos sucedeu tudo isto.
4 Now see, this day I am freeing you from the chains which are on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will keep an eye on you; but if it does not seem good to you to come with me to Babylon, then do not come: see, all the land is before you; if it seems good and right to you to go on living in the land,
4 Agora, pois, eis que te soltei, hoje, das cadeias que estavam sobre as tuas mãos. Se te apraz vir comigo para a Babilônia, vem, e eu velarei por ti; mas, se te não apraz vir comigo para Babilônia, deixa de vir. Olha: toda a terra está diante de ti; para onde parecer bom e reto aos teus olhos que vás, para ali vai.
5 Then go back to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made ruler over the towns of Judah, and make your living-place with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go. So the captain of the armed men gave him food and some money and let him go.
5 Mas, como ele ainda não tinha voltado, disse-lhe: Volta a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, a quem o rei da Babilônia pôs sobre as cidades de Judá, e habita com ele no meio do povo; ou, se para qualquer outra parte te aprouver ir, vai. Deu-lhe o capitão da guarda sustento para o caminho e um presente e o deixou ir.
6 So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, in Mizpah, and was living with him among the people who were still in the land.
6 Assim, veio Jeremias a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Mispa e habitou com ele no meio do povo que havia ficado na terra.
7 Now when it came to the ears of all the captains of the forces who were in the field, and their men, that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, ruler in the land, and had put under his care the men and women and children, all the poorest of the land, those who had not been taken away to Babylon;
7 Ouvindo, pois, todos os príncipes dos exércitos que estavam no campo, eles e os seus homens, que o rei da Babilônia tinha posto sobre a terra a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, e que lhe havia confiado os homens, e as mulheres, e os meninos, e os mais pobres da terra, que não foram levados cativos para a Babilônia,
8 Then they came to Gedaliah in Mizpah, even Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah, the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.
8 vieram ter com Gedalias, a Mispa; e eram: Ismael, filho de Netanias, e Joanã e Jônatas, filhos de Careá, e Seraías, filho de Tanumete, e os filhos de Efai, o netofatita, e Jezanias, filho de um maacatita, eles e os seus homens.
9 And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath to them and their men, saying, Have no fear of the servants of the Chaldaeans: go on living in the land, and become the servants of the king of Babylon, and all will be well.
9 Jurou Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, a eles e aos seus homens, dizendo: Não temais servir aos caldeus; ficai na terra e servi ao rei da Babilônia, e bem vos irá.
10 As for me, I will be living in Mizpah as your representative before the Chaldaeans who come to us: but you are to get in your wine and summer fruits and oil and put them in your vessels, and make living-places for yourselves in the towns which you have taken.
10 Eu, porém, eis que habito em Mispa, para estar às ordens dos caldeus que vierem a nós; e vós, recolhei o vinho, e as frutas de verão, e o azeite, e metei-os nas vossas vasilhas, e habitai nas cidades que tomastes.
11 In the same way, when all the Jews who were in Moab and among the children of Ammon and in Edom and in all the countries, had news that the king of Babylon had let Judah keep some of its people and that he had put over them Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan;
11 Do mesmo modo, quando todos os judeus que estavam em Moabe, e entre os filhos de Amom, e em Edom, e os que havia em todas aquelas terras ouviram que o rei da Babilônia havia deixado um resto em Judá e que havia posto sobre eles a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã,
12 Then all the Jews came back from all the places to which they had gone in flight, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, to Mizpah, and got in a great store of wine and summer fruit.
12 tornaram, então, todos os judeus de todos os lugares para onde foram lançados, e vieram à terra de Judá, a Gedalias, a Mispa, e recolheram vinho e frutas do verão com muita abundância.
13 Now Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces which were in the field, came to Gedaliah in Mizpah,
13 Joanã, filho de Careá, e todos os príncipes dos exércitos que estavam no campo vieram a Gedalias, a Mispa.
14 And said to him, Has it come to your knowledge that Baalis, the king of the children of Ammon, has sent Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, to take your life? But Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, put no faith in what they said.
14 E disseram-lhe: Bem sabes que Baalis, rei dos filhos de Amom, enviou a Ismael, filho de Netanias, para te tirar a vida. Mas não lhes deu crédito Gedalias, filho de Aicão.
15 Then Johanan, the son of Kareah, said to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, Let me now go and put Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, to death without anyone’s knowledge: why let him take your life so that all the Jews who have come together to you may be sent in flight, and the rest of the men of Judah come to an end?
15 Todavia, Joanã, filho de Careá, falou a Gedalias em segredo, em Mispa, dizendo: Irei, agora, e ferirei a Ismael, filho de Netanias, sem que ninguém o saiba. Por que razão te tiraria ele a vida, e todo o Judá que se tem congregado a ti seria disperso, e pereceria o resto de Judá?
16 But Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, said to Johanan, the son of Kareah, You are not to do this: for what you say about Ishmael is false.
16 Mas disse Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Joanã, filho de Careá: Não faças tal coisa, porque falas falsamente contra Ismael.

Jeremiah 41

1 Now it came about in the seventh month that Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the king’s seed, having with him ten men, came to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, in Mizpah; and they had a meal together in Mizpah.
1 Sucedeu, porém, no mês sétimo, que veio Ismael, filho de Netanias, filho de Elisama, de sangue real, e os capitães do rei, a saber, dez homens com ele, a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Mispa; e ali eles comeram pão juntos em Mispa.
2 Then Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men who were with him, got up, and attacking Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword, put to death him whom the king of Babylon had made ruler over the land.
2 E levantou-se Ismael, filho de Netanias, com os dez homens que estavam com ele, e feriram a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, à espada, matando, assim, aquele que o rei da Babilônia havia posto sobre a terra.
3 And Ishmael put to death all the Jews who were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldaean men of war.
3 Também feriu Ismael todos os judeus que estavam com Gedalias em Mispa, como também aos caldeus, homens de guerra, que se achavam ali.
4 Now on the second day after he had put Gedaliah to death, when no one had knowledge of it,
4 Sucedeu, pois, no dia seguinte, depois que ele matara a Gedalias, sem ninguém o saber,
5 Some people came from Shechem, from Shiloh and Samaria, eighty men, with the hair of their faces cut off and their clothing out of order, and with cuts on their bodies, and in their hands meal offerings and perfumes which they were taking to the house of the Lord.
5 que vieram homens de Siquém, de Siló e de Samaria, oitenta homens, com a barba rapada, e as vestes rasgadas, e o corpo retalhado; e traziam nas suas mãos ofertas de manjares e incenso, para levarem à Casa do SENHOR.
6 And Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, went out from Mizpah with the purpose of meeting them, weeping on his way: and it came about that when he was face to face with them he said, Come to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam.
6 E, saindo-lhes ao encontro Ismael, filho de Netanias, desde Mispa, ia chorando; e sucedeu que, encontrando-os, lhes disse: Vinde a Gedalias, filho de Aicão.
7 And when they came inside the town, Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and the men who were with him, put them to death and put their bodies into a deep hole.
7 Sucedeu, porém, que, indo eles até ao meio da cidade, matou-os Ismael, filho de Netanias, e os lançou num poço, ele e os homens que estavam com ele.
8 But there were ten men among them who said to Ishmael, Do not put us to death, for we have secret stores, in the country, of grain and oil and honey. So he did not put them to death with their countrymen.
8 Mas houve entre eles dez homens que disseram a Ismael: Não nos mates a nós; porque temos no campo tesouros escondidos, trigo, e cevada, e azeite, e mel. E ele, por isso, os deixou e não os matou, como a seus irmãos.
9 Now the hole into which Ishmael had put the dead bodies of the men whom he had put to death, was the great hole which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha, king of Israel: and Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, made it full of the bodies of those who had been put to death.
9 E o poço em que Ismael lançou todos os cadáveres dos homens que feriu por causa de Gedalias é o mesmo que fez o rei Asa, por causa de Baasa, rei de Israel; foi esse mesmo que Ismael, filho de Netanias, encheu de mortos.
10 Then Ishmael took away as prisoners all the rest of the people who were in Mizpah, the king’s daughters and all the people still in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, had put under the care of Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam: Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, took them away prisoners with the purpose of going over to the children of Ammon.
10 E Ismael levou cativo a todo o resto do povo que estava em Mispa; as filhas do rei, e todo o povo que ficara em Mispa, que Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, havia confiado a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, levou-os cativos Ismael, filho de Netanias; e foi-se, para passar aos filhos de Amom.
11 But when Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the armed forces who were with him, had news of all the evil which Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, had done,
11 Ouvindo, pois, Joanã, filho de Careá, e todos os príncipes dos exércitos que estavam com ele todo o mal que havia feito Ismael, filho de Netanias,
12 They took their men and went out to make war on Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and they came face to face with him by the great waters in Gibeon.
12 tomaram todos os seus homens e foram pelejar contra Ismael, filho de Netanias; e acharam-no ao pé das muitas águas que há em Gibeão.
13 Now when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces with him, then they were glad.
13 E aconteceu que, vendo todo o povo que estava com Ismael a Joanã, filho de Careá, e a todos os príncipes dos exércitos que vinham com ele, se alegrou.
14 And all the people whom Ishmael had taken away prisoners from Mizpah, turning round, came back and went to Johanan, the son of Kareah.
14 E todo o povo que Ismael levara cativo de Mispa virou as costas, e voltou, e foi para Joanã, filho de Careá.
15 But Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, got away from Johanan, with eight men, and went to the children of Ammon.
15 Mas Ismael, filho de Netanias, escapou com oito homens de diante de Joanã e se foi para os filhos de Amom.
16 Then Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, took all the rest of the people whom Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, had made prisoners, after he had put to death Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the people from Mizpah, that is, the men of war and the women and the children and the unsexed servants, whom he had taken back with him from Gibeon:
16 Então, tomou Joanã, filho de Careá, e todos os príncipes dos exércitos que estavam com ele a todo o resto do povo que ele havia recobrado de Ismael, filho de Netanias, desde Mispa, depois que tinha sido ferido Gedalias, filho de Aicão, e aos homens valentes de guerra, e às mulheres, e aos meninos, e aos eunucos que havia recobrado de Gibeão.
17 And they went and were living in the resting-place of Chimham, which is near Beth-lehem on the way into Egypt,
17 E partiram, indo habitar em Gerute-Quimã, que está perto de Belém, para dali entrarem no Egito,
18 Because of the Chaldaeans: for they were in fear of them because Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, had put to death Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had made ruler over the land.
18 por causa dos caldeus; porque os temiam, por ter Ismael, filho de Netanias, ferido a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a quem o rei da Babilônia tinha posto sobre a terra.

Jeremiah 42

1 Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah, the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest, came near,
1 Então, chegaram todos os príncipes dos exércitos, e Joanã, filho de Careá, e Jezanias, filho de Hosaías, e todo o povo, desde o menor até ao maior,
2 And said to Jeremiah the prophet, Let our request come before you, and make prayer for us to the Lord your God, even for this small band of us; for we are only a small band out of what was a great number, as your eyes may see:
2 e disseram a Jeremias, o profeta: Caia, agora, a nossa súplica diante de ti, e roga por nós ao SENHOR, teu Deus, por todo este resto; porque de muitos restamos uns poucos, como vêem os teus olhos;
3 That the Lord your God may make clear to us the way in which we are to go and what we are to do.
3 para que o SENHOR, teu Deus, nos ensine o caminho por onde havemos de andar e aquilo que havemos de fazer.
4 Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, I have given ear to you; see, I will make prayer to the Lord your God, as you have said; and it will be that, whatever the Lord may say in answer to you, I will give you word of it, keeping nothing back.
4 E disse-lhes Jeremias, o profeta: Eu vos ouvi; eis que orarei ao SENHOR, vosso Deus, conforme as vossas palavras; e seja o que for que o SENHOR vos responder, eu vo-lo declararei; não vos ocultarei nada.
5 Then they said to Jeremiah, May the Lord be a true witness against us in good faith, if we do not do everything which the Lord your God sends you to say to us.
5 Então, eles disseram a Jeremias: Seja o SENHOR entre nós testemunha da verdade e fidelidade, se não fizermos conforme toda a palavra com que te enviar a nós o SENHOR, teu Deus.
6 If it is good or if it is evil, we will be guided by the voice of the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you; so that it may be well for us when we give ear to the voice of the Lord our God.
6 Seja ela boa ou seja má, à voz do SENHOR, nosso Deus, a quem te enviamos, obedeceremos, para que nos suceda bem, obedecendo à voz do SENHOR, nosso Deus.
7 And it came about that after ten days the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah.
7 E sucedeu que, ao fim de dez dias, veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias.
8 And he sent for Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were still with him, and all the people, from the least to the greatest,
8 Então, chamou a Joanã, filho de Careá, e a todos os príncipes dos exércitos que havia com ele, e a todo o povo, desde o menor até ao maior,
9 And said to them, These are the words of the Lord, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to put your request before him:
9 e disse-lhes: Assim diz o SENHOR, Deus de Israel, a quem me enviastes, para lançar a vossa súplica diante dele:
10 If you still go on living in the land, then I will go on building you up and not pulling you down, planting you and not uprooting you: for my purpose of doing evil to you has been changed.
10 Se de boa mente ficardes nesta terra, então, vos edificarei e não vos derribarei; e vos plantarei e não vos arrancarei, porque estou arrependido do mal que vos tenho feito.
11 Have no fear of the king of Babylon, of whom you are now in fear; have no fear of him, says the Lord: for I am with you to keep you safe and to give you salvation from his hands.
11 Não temais o rei da Babilônia, a quem vós temeis; não o temais, diz o SENHOR, porque eu sou convosco, para vos salvar e para vos fazer livrar das suas mãos.
12 And I will have mercy on you, so that he may have mercy on you and let you go back to your land.
12 E vos farei misericórdia, para que ele tenha misericórdia de vós e vos faça voltar à vossa terra.
13 But if you say, We have no desire to go on living in this land; and do not give ear to the voice of the Lord your God,
13 Mas, se vós disserdes: Não ficaremos nesta terra, não obedecendo à voz do SENHOR, vosso Deus,
14 Saying, No, but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we will not see war, or be hearing the sound of the horn, or be in need of food; there we will make our living-place;
14 dizendo: Não; antes, iremos à terra do Egito, onde não veremos guerra, nem ouviremos som de trombeta, nem teremos fome de pão, e ali ficaremos.
15 Then give ear now to the word of the Lord, O you last of Judah: the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said, If your minds are fixed on going into Egypt and stopping there;
15 Nesse caso, ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, ó resto de Judá; assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Se vós, absolutamente, puserdes o vosso rosto para entrardes no Egito e entrardes para lá peregrinar;
16 Then it will come about that the sword, which is the cause of your fear, will overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and need of food, which you are fearing, will go after you there in Egypt; and there death will come to you.
16 acontecerá, então, que a espada que vós temeis ali vos alcançará na terra do Egito, e a fome que vós receais estará convosco no Egito, e ali morrereis.
17 Such will be the fate of all the men whose minds are fixed on going into Egypt and stopping there; they will come to their end by the sword, by being short of food, and by disease: not one of them will keep his life or get away from the evil which I will send on them.
17 Assim será com todos os homens que puseram o seu rosto para entrarem no Egito, a fim de lá peregrinarem: morrerão à espada, à fome e da peste; e deles não haverá quem reste e escape do mal que eu farei vir sobre eles.
18 For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: As my wrath and passion have been let loose on the people of Jerusalem, so will my passion be let loose on you when you go into Egypt: and you will become an oath and a cause of wonder and a curse and a name of shame; and you will never see this place again.
18 Porque assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Como se derramaram a minha ira e a minha indignação sobre os habitantes de Jerusalém, assim se derramará a minha indignação sobre vós, quando entrardes no Egito; e sereis uma maldição, e um espanto, e uma execração, e um opróbrio e não vereis mais este lugar.
19 The Lord has said about you, O last of Judah, Go not into Egypt: be certain that I have given witness to you this day.
19 Falou o SENHOR acerca de vós, ó resto de Judá: Não entreis no Egito. Sabei, decerto, que testifiquei contra vós, hoje.
20 For you have been acting with deceit in your hearts; for you sent me to the Lord your God, saying, Make prayer for us to the Lord our God, and give us word of everything he may say, and we will do it.
20 Porquanto, enganastes a vossa alma, pois me enviastes ao SENHOR, vosso Deus, dizendo: Ora por nós ao SENHOR, nosso Deus; e, conforme tudo o que disser o SENHOR, Deus nosso, declara-no-lo assim, e o faremos.
21 And this day I have made it clear to you, and you have not given ear to the voice of the Lord your God in anything for which he has sent me to you.
21 E vo-lo tenho declarado hoje; mas não destes ouvidos à voz do SENHOR, vosso Deus, em coisa alguma pela qual ele me enviou a vós.
22 And now be certain that you will come to your end by the sword and by being short of food and by disease, in the place to which you are pleased to go for a living-place.
22 Agora, pois, sabei, por certo, que à espada, à fome e da peste morrereis no mesmo lugar onde desejastes entrar, para lá peregrinardes.

Jeremiah 43

1 And it came about that when Jeremiah had come to the end of giving all the people the words of the Lord their God, which the Lord their God had sent him to say to them, even all these words,
1 E sucedeu que, acabando Jeremias de anunciar a todo o povo todas as palavras do SENHOR, Deus deles, com as quais o SENHOR, Deus deles, o havia enviado, e que foram todas aquelas palavras,
2 Then Azariah, the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the men of pride, said to Jeremiah, You have said what is false: the Lord our God has not sent you to say, You are not to go into the land of Egypt and make your living-place there:
2 então, falou Azarias, filho de Hosaías, e Joanã, filho de Careá, e todos os homens soberbos, dizendo a Jeremias: Tu dizes mentiras; o SENHOR, nosso Deus, não te enviou a dizer: Não entreis no Egito, para lá peregrinardes.
3 But Baruch, the son of Neriah, is moving you against us, to give us up into the hands of the Chaldaeans so that they may put us to death, and take us away prisoners into Babylon.
3 Baruque, filho de Nerias, é que te incita contra nós, para nos entregar nas mãos dos caldeus, para eles nos matarem ou para nos transportarem para a Babilônia.
4 So Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, did not give ear to the order of the Lord that they were to go on living in the land of Judah.
4 Não obedeceu, pois, Joanã, filho de Careá, nem nenhum de todos os príncipes dos exércitos, nem o povo todo à voz do SENHOR, para ficarem na terra de Judá.
5 But Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces took all the rest of Judah who had come back into the land of Judah from all the nations where they had been forced to go;
5 Antes, tomou Joanã, filho de Careá, e todos os príncipes dos exércitos a todo o resto de Judá que havia voltado dentre todas as nações para onde haviam sido lançados com o fim de peregrinarem na terra de Judá;
6 The men and the women and the children and the king’s daughters, and every person whom Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, had put under the care of Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch, the son of Neriah;
6 aos homens, e às mulheres, e aos meninos, e às filhas do rei, e a toda alma que deixara Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, com Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã; como também a Jeremias, o profeta, e a Baruque, filho de Nerias.
7 And they came into the land of Egypt; for they did not give ear to the voice of the Lord: and they came to Tahpanhes.
7 E entraram na terra do Egito, porque não obedeceram à voz do SENHOR; e vieram até Tafnes.
8 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
8 Então, veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, em Tafnes, dizendo:
9 Take in your hand some great stones, and put them in a safe place in the paste in the brickwork which is at the way into Pharaoh’s house in Tahpanhes, before the eyes of the men of Judah;
9 Toma na tua mão pedras grandes e esconde-as entre o barro no forno que está à porta da casa de Faraó em Tafnes, perante os olhos de homens judeus.
10 And say to them, This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: See, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar, the king of Babylon, my servant, and he will put the seat of his kingdom on these stones which have been put in a safe place here by you; and his tent will be stretched over them.
10 E dize-lhes: Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que eu enviarei, e tomarei a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, meu servo, e porei o seu trono sobre estas pedras que escondi; e ele estenderá a sua tenda real sobre elas.
11 And he will come and overcome the land of Egypt; those who are for death will be put to death, those who are to be prisoners will be made prisoners, and those who are for the sword will be given to the sword.
11 E virá e ferirá a terra do Egito: quem para a morte, para a morte; e quem para o cativeiro, para o cativeiro; e quem para a espada, para a espada.
12 And he will put a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and they will be burned by him: and he will make Egypt clean as a keeper of sheep makes clean his clothing; and he will go out from there in peace.
12 E lançarei fogo às casas dos deuses do Egito, e ele queimá-los-á e levá-los-á cativos; e ornar-se-á da terra do Egito, como veste o pastor sua veste, e sairá dali em paz.
13 And the stone pillars of Beth-shemesh in the land of Egypt will be broken by him, and the houses of the gods of Egypt burned with fire.
13 E quebrará as estátuas de Bete-Semes, que está na terra do Egito; e as casas dos deuses do Egito queimará.

Jeremiah 44

1 The word which came to Jeremiah about all the Jews who were living in the land of Egypt, in Migdol and at Tahpanhes and at Noph and in the country of Pathros, saying,
1 Palavra que veio a Jeremias acerca de todos os judeus habitantes da terra do Egito, que habitavam em Migdol, e em Tafnes, e em Nofe, e na terra de Patros, dizendo:
2 The Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: You have seen all the evil which I have sent on Jerusalem and on all the towns of Judah; and now, this day they are waste and unpeopled;
2 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Vós vistes todo o mal que fiz cair sobre Jerusalém e sobre todas as cidades de Judá; e eis que elas são, hoje, um deserto, e ninguém habita nelas;
3 Because of the evil which they have done, moving me to wrath by burning perfumes in worship to other gods, who were not their gods or yours or the gods of their fathers.
3 por causa da sua maldade que fizeram, para me irarem, indo queimar incenso e servir a deuses estranhos, que eles nunca conheceram, eles, vós e vossos pais.
4 And I sent all my servants the prophets to you, getting up early and sending them, saying, Do not do this disgusting thing which is hated by me.
4 E eu vos enviei todos os meus servos, os profetas, madrugando e enviando a dizer: Ora, não façais esta coisa abominável que aborreço.
5 But they gave no attention, and their ears were not open so that they might be turned from their evil-doing and from burning perfume to other gods.
5 Mas eles não deram ouvidos, nem inclinaram os ouvidos, para se converterem da sua maldade, para não queimarem incenso a deuses estranhos.
6 Because of this, my passion and my wrath were let loose, burning in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are waste and unpeopled as at this day.
6 Derramaram-se, pois, a minha indignação e a minha ira e acenderam-se nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém; e elas tornaram-se em deserto e em assolação, como hoje se vê.
7 So now, the Lord, the God of armies, the God of Israel, has said, Why are you doing this great evil against yourselves, causing every man and woman, little child and baby at the breast among you in Judah to be cut off till not one is still living;
7 Agora, pois, assim diz o SENHOR, Deus dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Por que fazeis vós tão grande mal contra a vossa alma, para desarraigardes ao homem, e à mulher, à criança, e ao que mama do meio de Judá, a fim de não deixardes ali resto algum;
8 Moving me to wrath with the work of your hands, burning perfumes to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to make a place for yourselves, so that you may become a curse and a name of shame among all the nations of the earth?
8 irando-me com as obras de vossas mãos, queimando incenso a deuses estranhos na terra do Egito, onde vós entrastes, para lá peregrinardes, para que a vós mesmos vos desarraigueis e para que sirvais de maldição, de opróbrio entre todas as nações da terra?
9 Have you no memory of the evil-doing of your fathers, and the evil-doing of the kings of Judah, and the evil-doing of their wives, and the evil which you yourselves have done, and the evil which your wives have done, in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
9 Esquecestes já as maldades de vossos pais, e as maldades dos reis de Judá, e as maldades das suas mulheres, e as vossas maldades, e as maldades das vossas mulheres, que cometeram na terra de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém?
10 Even to this day their hearts are not broken, and they have no fear, and have not gone in the way of my law or of my rules which I gave to you and to your fathers.
10 Não se humilharam até ao dia de hoje, nem temeram, nem andaram na minha lei, nem nos meus estatutos, que pus diante de vós e diante de vossos pais.
11 So this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: See, my face will be turned against you for evil, for the cutting off of all Judah;
11 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que eu ponho o rosto contra vós, para mal e para desarraigar a todo o Judá.
12 And I will take the last of Judah, whose minds are fixed on going into the land of Egypt and stopping there, and they will all come to their end, falling in the land of Egypt by the sword and by being short of food and by disease; death will overtake them, from the least to the greatest, death by the sword and by need of food: they will become an oath and a cause of wonder and a curse and a name of shame.
12 E tomarei o resto de Judá, que pôs o rosto para entrar na terra do Egito, a fim de lá peregrinar; e ele será todo consumido na terra do Egito; cairá à espada e de fome morrerá; consumir-se-ão, desde o menor até ao maior; à espada e à fome morrerão e serão uma execração, e um espanto, e uma maldição, e um opróbrio.
13 For I will send punishment on those who are living in the land of Egypt, as I have sent punishment on Jerusalem, by the sword and by need of food and by disease:
13 Porque visitarei os que habitam na terra do Egito, como visitei Jerusalém, com a espada, com a fome e com a peste.
14 So that not one of the rest of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt and are living there, will get away or keep his life, to come back to the land of Judah where they are hoping to come back and be living again: for not one will come back, but only those who are able to get away.
14 De maneira que não haverá quem escape e fique da parte remanescente do Judá que entrou na terra do Egito, a fim de lá peregrinar, para tornar à terra de Judá, à qual era grande desejo da sua alma voltar e habitar lá; mas não tornarão senão os que escaparem.
15 Then all the men who had knowledge that their wives were burning perfumes to other gods, and all the women who were present, a great meeting, answering Jeremiah, said,
15 Então, responderam a Jeremias todos os homens que sabiam que suas mulheres queimavam incenso a deuses estranhos e todas as mulheres que estavam em pé em grande multidão, como também todo o povo que habitava na terra do Egito, em Patros, dizendo:
16 As for the word which you have said to us in the name of the Lord, we will not give ear to you.
16 Quanto à palavra que nos anunciaste em nome do SENHOR, não te obedeceremos a ti;
17 But we will certainly do every word which has gone out of our mouths, burning perfumes to the queen of heaven and draining out drink offerings to her as we did, we and our fathers and our kings and our rulers, in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then we had food enough and did well and saw no evil.
17 antes, certamente, cumpriremos toda a palavra que saiu da nossa boca, queimando incenso à deusa chamada Rainha dos Céus e oferecendo-lhe libações, como nós e nossos pais, nossos reis e nossos príncipes temos feito, nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém; e tivemos, então, fartura de pão, e andávamos alegres, e não vimos mal algum.
18 But from the time when we gave up burning perfumes to the queen of heaven and draining out drink offerings to her, we have been in need of all things, and have been wasted by the sword and by need of food.
18 Mas, desde que cessamos de queimar incenso à Rainha dos Céus e de lhe oferecer libações, tivemos falta de tudo e fomos consumidos pela espada e pela fome.
19 And the women said, When we were burning perfumes to the queen of heaven and draining out drink offerings to her, did we make cakes in her image and give her our drink offerings without the knowledge of our husbands?
19 Quando nós queimávamos incenso à Rainha dos Céus e lhe oferecíamos libações, fizemos-lhe bolos para a adorar e oferecemos-lhe libações sem nossos maridos?
20 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men and women and all the people who had given him that answer,
20 Então, disse Jeremias a todo o povo, aos homens e às mulheres, e a todo o povo que lhe havia dado esta resposta, dizendo:
21 The perfumes which you have been burning in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers and your kings and your rulers and the people of the land, had the Lord no memory of them, and did he not keep them in mind?
21 Porventura, não se lembrou o SENHOR, e não lhe subiu ao coração o incenso que queimastes nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, vós e vossos pais, vossos reis e vossos príncipes, como também o povo da terra?
22 And the Lord was no longer able to put up with the evil of your doings and the disgusting things you did; and because of this your land has become a waste and a cause of wonder and a curse, with no one living in it, as at this day.
22 De maneira que o SENHOR não podia por mais tempo sofrer a maldade das vossas ações, as abominações que cometestes; pelo que se tornou a vossa terra em deserto, e em espanto, e em maldição, sem habitantes, como hoje se vê.
23 Because you have been burning perfumes, and sinning against the Lord, and have not given ear to the voice of the Lord, or gone in the way of his law or his rules or his orders; for this reason this evil has come on you, as it is today.
23 Visto que queimastes incenso, e pecastes contra o SENHOR, e não obedecestes à voz do SENHOR, e na sua lei e nos seus testemunhos não andastes, vos sucedeu este mal, como se vê neste dia.
24 Further, Jeremiah said to all the people and all the women, Give ear to the word of the Lord, all those of Judah who are living in Egypt:
24 Disse mais Jeremias a todo o povo e a todas as mulheres: Ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, vós, todo o Judá que estais na terra do Egito.
25 This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: You women have said with your mouths, and with your hands you have done what you said, We will certainly give effect to the oaths we have made, to have perfumes burned to the queen of heaven and drink offerings drained out to her: then give effect to your oaths and do them.
25 Assim fala o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, dizendo: Vós e vossas mulheres não somente falastes por vossa boca, senão também o fizestes por vossas mãos, dizendo: Certamente, cumpriremos os nossos votos que fizemos, de queimar incenso à Rainha dos Céus e de lhe oferecer libações; perfeitamente confirmastes os vossos votos e perfeitamente cumpristes os vossos votos.
26 And now give ear to the word of the Lord, all you of Judah who are living in the land of Egypt: Truly, I have taken an oath by my great name, says the Lord, that my name is no longer to be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, By the life of the Lord God.
26 Portanto, ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, todo o Judá que habitais na terra do Egito: Eis que eu juro pelo meu grande nome, diz o SENHOR, que nunca mais será pronunciado o meu nome pela boca de homem de Judá em toda a terra do Egito, dizendo: Vive o Senhor JEOVÁ!
27 See, I am watching over them for evil and not for good: all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will be wasted by the sword and by need of food till there is an end of them.

28 And those who get away safe from the sword will come back from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, a very small number; and all the rest of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt and are living there, will see whose word has effect, mine or theirs.

29 And this will be the sign to you, says the Lord, that I will give you punishment in this place, so that you may see that my words will certainly have effect against you for evil:

30 The Lord has said, See, I will give up Pharaoh Hophra, king of Egypt, into the hands of those who are fighting against him and desiring to take his life, as I gave Zedekiah, king of Judah, into the hands of Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, his hater, who had designs against his life.
30 Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu entregarei o Faraó Hofra, rei do Egito, nas mãos de seus inimigos e nas mãos dos que procuram a sua morte, como entreguei Zedequias, rei de Judá, nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, seu inimigo e que procurava a sua morte.

Jeremiah 45

1 The words which Jeremiah the prophet said to Baruch, the son of Neriah, when he put these words down in a book from the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah; he said,

4 This is what you are to say to him: The Lord has said, Truly, the building which I put up will be broken down, and that which was planted by me will be uprooted, and this through all the land;
4 Isto lhe dirás: Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que o que edifiquei eu derribo e o que plantei eu arranco, e isso em toda esta terra.
5 And as for you, are you looking for great things for yourself? Have no desire for them: for truly I will send evil on all flesh, says the Lord: but your life I will keep safe from attack wherever you go.
5 E procuras tu grandezas? Não as busques, porque eis que trarei mal sobre toda a carne, diz o SENHOR; a ti, porém, darei a tua alma por despojo, em todos os lugares para onde fores.

Jeremiah 46

1 The word of the Lord which came to Jeremiah the prophet about the nations.

3 Get out the breastplate and body-cover, and come together to the fight.

8 Egypt is coming up like the Nile, and his waters are lifting their heads like the rivers, and he says, I will go up, covering the earth; I will send destruction on the town and its people.

11 Go up to Gilead and take sweet oil, O virgin daughter of Egypt: there is no help in all your medical arts; nothing will make you well.
11 Sobe a Gileade e toma bálsamo, ó virgem filha do Egito; debalde, multiplicas remédios; não há cura para ti.
12 Your shame has come to the ears of the nations, and the earth is full of your cry: for the strong man is falling against the strong, they have come down together.
12 As nações ouviram falar da tua vergonha, e a terra está cheia do teu clamor; porque o valente tropeçou no valente, e ambos caíram juntos.

17 Give a name to Pharaoh, king of Egypt: A noise who has let the time go by.

18 By my life, says the King, whose name is the Lord of armies, truly, like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea, so will he come.

26 E os entregarei nas mãos dos que procuram a sua morte, nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia e nas mãos dos seus servos; mas, depois, será habitada como nos dias antigos, diz o SENHOR.
27 But have no fear, O Jacob, my servant, and do not be troubled, O Israel: for see, I will make you come back from far away, and your seed from the land where they are prisoners; and Jacob will come back, and will be quiet and in peace, and no one will give him cause for fear.
27 Não temas, pois, tu, servo meu, Jacó, nem te espantes, ó Israel; porque eis que te livrarei mesmo de longe e a tua semente da terra do seu cativeiro; e Jacó voltará, e descansará, e sossegará, e não haverá quem o atemorize.
28 Have no fear, O Jacob, my servant, says the Lord; for I am with you: for I will put an end to all the nations where I have sent you, but I will not put an end to you completely: though with wise purpose I will put right your errors, and will not let you go quite without punishment.
28 Não temas, servo meu, Jacó, diz o SENHOR, porque estou contigo; porque porei termo a todas as nações entre as quais te lancei; mas a ti não porei termo, mas castigar-te-ei com medida e não te deixarei de todo impune.

Jeremiah 47

1 The word of the Lord which came to Jeremiah the prophet about the Philistines, before Pharaoh’s attack on Gaza.

2 This is what the Lord has said: See, waters are coming up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, overflowing the land and everything in it, the town and those who are living in it; and men will give a cry, and all the people of the land will be crying out in pain.

3 At the noise of the stamping of the feet of his war-horses, at the rushing of his carriages and the thunder of his wheels, fathers will give no thought to their children, because their hands are feeble;
3 ao ruído estrepitoso das unhas dos seus fortes cavalos, ao barulho de seus carros, ao estrondo das suas rodas; os pais não atendem aos filhos, por causa da fraqueza das mãos;
4 Because of the day which is coming with destruction on all the Philistines, cutting off from Tyre and Zidon the last of their helpers: for the Lord will send destruction on the Philistines, the rest of the sea-land of Caphtor.
4 por causa do Dia que vem para destruir a todos os filisteus, para cortar de Tiro e de Sidom todo o resto que os socorra; porque o SENHOR destruirá os filisteus, o resto da ilha de Caftor.
5 The hair is cut off from the head of Gaza; Ashkelon has come to nothing; the last of the Anakim are deeply wounding themselves.

Jeremiah 48

1 Of Moab. The Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: Sorrow on Nebo, for it has been made waste; Kiriathaim has been put to shame and is taken: the strong place is put to shame and broken down.

5 For by the slope of Luhith they will go up, weeping all the way; for on the way down to Horonaim the cry of destruction has come to their ears.

10 Let him be cursed who does the Lord’s work half-heartedly; let him be cursed who keeps back his sword from blood.

11 From his earliest days, Moab has been living in comfort; like wine long stored he has not been drained from vessel to vessel, he has never gone away as a prisoner: so his taste is still in him, his smell is unchanged.

14 How say you, We are men of war and strong fighters?

15 He who makes Moab waste has gone up against her; and the best of her young men have gone down to their death, says the King, whose name is the Lord of armies.

26 Make him full of wine, for his heart has been lifted up against the Lord: and Moab will be rolling in the food he was not able to keep down, and everyone will be making sport of him.

27 For did you not make sport of Israel? was he taken among thieves? for whenever you were talking about him, you were shaking your head over him.

28 O people of Moab, go away from the towns and take cover in the rock; be like the dove of the Arabah, which makes her living-place in holes.

33 All joy is gone; no longer are they glad for the fertile field and for the land of Moab; I have made the wine come to an end from the crushing vessels: no longer will the grapes be crushed with the sound of glad voices.

34 The cry of Heshbon comes even to Elealeh; to Jahaz their voice is sounding; from Zoar even to Horonaim and to Eglath-shelishiyah: for the waters of Nimrim will become dry.

35 And I will put an end in Moab, says the Lord, to him who is making offerings in the high place and burning perfumes to his gods.

36 So my heart is sounding for Moab like the sound of pipes, and my heart is sounding like pipes for the men of Kir-heres: for the wealth he has got for himself has come to an end.

37 For everywhere the hair of the head and the hair of the face is cut off: on every hand there are wounds, and haircloth on every body.

38 On all the house-tops of Moab and in its streets there is weeping everywhere; for Moab has been broken like a vessel in which there is no pleasure, says the Lord.
38 Sobre todos os telhados de Moabe e nas suas ruas haverá um pranto geral; porque quebrei a Moabe, como a um vaso que não agrada, diz o SENHOR.
39 How is it broken down! how is Moab’s back turned in shame! so Moab will be a cause of sport and of fear to everyone round about him.

40 For the Lord has said, See, he will come like an eagle in flight, stretching out his wings against Moab.

41 Kerioth is taken, and the strong places have been forced, and the hearts of Moab’s men of war in that day will be like the heart of a woman in birth-pains.

42 And Moab will come to an end as a people, because he has been lifting himself up against the Lord.
42 E Moabe será destruído, para que não seja povo, porque se engrandeceu contra o SENHOR.
43 Fear and death and the net have come on you, O people of Moab, says the Lord.
43 Temor, e cova, e laço vêm sobre ti, ó morador de Moabe, diz o SENHOR.
44 He who goes in flight from the fear will be overtaken by death; and he who gets free from death will be taken in the net: for I will make this come on Moab, even the year of their punishment, says the Lord.
44 O que fugir do temor cairá na cova, e o que sair da cova ficará preso no laço, porque trarei sobre ele, sobre Moabe, o ano da sua visitação, diz o SENHOR.
45 Those who went in flight from the fear are waiting under the shade of Heshbon: for a fire has gone out from Heshbon and a flame from the house of Sihon, burning up the pride of Moab and the crown of the head of the violent ones.
45 Os que fugiam ficaram sem força e pararam à sombra de Hesbom; mas fogo saiu de Hesbom, e a labareda, do meio de Seom, e devorou o canto de Moabe e o poder dos turbulentos.
46 Sorrow is yours, O Moab! the people of Chemosh are overcome: for your sons have been taken away as prisoners, and your daughters made servants.
46 Ai de ti, Moabe! Pereceu o povo de Quemos, porque teus filhos ficaram cativos, e tuas filhas, em cativeiro.
47 But still, I will let the fate of Moab be changed in the last days, says the Lord.
47 Mas farei voltar os cativos de Moabe no último dos dias, diz o SENHOR. Até aqui o juízo de Moabe.

Jeremiah 49

1 About the children of Ammon. These are the words of the Lord: Has Israel no sons? has he no one to take the heritage? why then has Milcom taken Gad for himself, putting his people in its towns?
1 Contra os filhos de Amom. Assim diz o SENHOR: Acaso, não tem filhos Israel, nem tem herdeiros? Por que, pois, herdou Malcã a Gade, e o seu povo habitou nas suas cidades?
2 Because of this, see, the days are coming when I will have a cry of war sounded against Rabbah, the town of the children of Ammon; it will become a waste of broken walls, and her daughter-towns will be burned with fire: then Israel will take the heritage of those who took his heritage, says the Lord.
2 Portanto, eis que vêm dias, diz o SENHOR, em que farei ouvir em Rabá dos filhos de Amom o alarido de guerra, e tornar-se-á num montão de ruínas, e os lugares da sua jurisdição serão queimados; e Israel herdará aqueles que o herdaram, diz o SENHOR.
3 Make sounds of grief, O Heshbon, for Ai is wasted; give loud cries, O daughters of Rabbah, and put haircloth round you: give yourselves to weeping, running here and there and wounding yourselves; for Milcom will be taken prisoner together with his rulers and his priests.
3 Uiva, ó Hesbom, porque é destruída Ai; clamai, ó filhas de Rabá, cingi-vos de panos de saco, lamentai e dai voltas pelos valados, porque Malcã irá em cativeiro, e os seus sacerdotes e os seus príncipes juntamente.
4 Why are you lifted up in pride on account of your valleys, your flowing valley, O daughter ever turning away? who puts her faith in her wealth, saying, Who will come against me?
4 Por que te glorias nos vales, teus luxuriantes vales, ó filha rebelde, que confias nos teus tesouros, dizendo: Quem virá contra mim?
5 See, I will send fear on you, says the Lord, the Lord of armies, from those who are round you on every side; you will be forced out, every man straight before him, and there will be no one to get together the wanderers.
5 Eis que eu trarei temor sobre ti, diz o Senhor JEOVÁ dos Exércitos, de todos os que estão ao redor de ti; e sereis lançados fora, cada um em frente, e ninguém recolherá o desgarrado.
6 But after these things, I will let the fate of the children of Ammon be changed, says the Lord.
6 Mas, depois disto, farei voltar os cativos dos filhos de Amom, diz o SENHOR.
7 About Edom. This is what the Lord of armies has said. Is there no more wisdom in Teman? have wise suggestions come to an end among men of good sense? has their wisdom completely gone?
7 Contra Edom. Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Acaso, não há mais sabedoria em Temã? Já pereceu o conselho dos sábios? Corrompeu-se a sua sabedoria?
8 Go in flight, go back, take cover in deep places, you who are living in Dedan; for I will send the fate of Edom on him, even the time of his punishment.
8 Fugi, voltai e habitai em profundezas, ó moradores de Dedã, porque eu trouxe sobre ele a ruína de Esaú, no tempo em que o visitei.
9 If men came to get your grapes, would they not let some be uncut on the vines? if thieves came by night, would they not make waste till they had enough?
9 Se vindimadores viessem a ti, não deixariam alguns rabiscos? Se ladrões, de noite, não te danificariam quanto julgassem suficiente?
10 I have had Esau searched out, uncovering his secret places, so that he may not keep himself covered: his seed is wasted and has come to an end, and there is no help from his neighbours.
10 Mas eu despi a Esaú, descobri os seus esconderijos, e não se poderá esconder; é destruída a sua descendência, como também seus irmãos e seus vizinhos, e ele já não existe.
11 Put in my care your children who have no father, and I will keep them safe; and let your widows put their faith in me.
11 Deixa os teus órfãos; eu os guardarei em vida; e as tuas viúvas confiarão em mim.
12 For the Lord has said, Those for whom the cup was not made ready will certainly be forced to take of it; and are you to go without punishment? you will not be without punishment, but will certainly be forced to take from the cup.
12 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que aqueles que não estavam condenados a beber o copo totalmente o beberão, e tu ficarias inteiramente impune? Não ficarás impune, mas, certamente, o beberás.
13 For I have taken an oath by myself, says the Lord, that Bozrah will become a cause of wonder, a name of shame, a waste and a curse; and all its towns will be waste places for ever.
13 Porque por mim mesmo jurei, diz o SENHOR, que Bozra servirá de espanto, de opróbrio, de assolação e de execração; e todas as suas cidades se tornarão em assolações perpétuas.
14 Word has come to me from the Lord, and a representative has been sent to the nations, to say, Come together and go up against her, and take your places for the fight.
14 Ouvi um rumor vindo do SENHOR, que um embaixador é enviado às nações, para lhes dizer: Ajuntai-vos, e vinde contra ela, e levantai-vos para a guerra.
15 For see, I have made you small among the nations, looked down on by men.
15 Porque eis que te fiz pequeno entre as nações, desprezado entre os homens.
16 …the pride of your heart has been a false hope, O you who are living in the cracks of the rock, keeping your place on the top of the hill: even if you made your living-place as high as the eagle, I would make you come down, says the Lord.
16 Quanto à tua terribilidade, a arrogância do teu coração te enganou. Tu, que habitas nas cavernas das rochas, que ocupas as alturas dos outeiros, ainda que eleves o teu ninho como a águia, de lá te derribarei, diz o SENHOR.
17 And Edom will become a cause of wonder: everyone who goes by will be overcome with wonder, and make sounds of fear at all her punishments.
17 Assim servirá Edom de espanto; todo aquele que passar por ele se espantará e assobiará por causa de todas as suas pragas.
18 As at the downfall of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbouring towns, says the Lord, no man will be living in it, no son of man will have a resting-place there.
18 Será como a destruição de Sodoma e Gomorra e dos seus vizinhos, diz o SENHOR; não habitará ninguém ali, nem morará nela filho de homem.
19 See, he will come up like a lion from the thick growth of Jordan against the resting-place of Teman: but I will suddenly make him go in flight from her; and I will put over her the man of my selection: for who is like me? and who will put forward his cause against me? and what keeper of sheep will be able to keep his place before me?
19 Eis que, como leão, subirá da enchente do Jordão contra a morada do forte; porque, num momento, o farei correr dali; e quem é o escolhido que porei sobre ela? Porque quem é semelhante a mim? E quem me emprazaria? E quem é o pastor que subsistiria perante mim?
20 For this cause give ear to the decision of the Lord which he has made against Edom, and to his purposes designed against the people of Teman: Truly, they will be pulled away by the smallest of the flock; truly, he will make waste their fields with them.
20 Portanto, ouvi o conselho do SENHOR, que ele decretou contra Edom, e os seus desígnios, que ele intentou contra os moradores de Temã; certamente, os menores do rebanho os arrastarão; certamente, assolará as suas moradas sobre eles.
21 The earth is shaking with the noise of their fall; their cry is sounding in the Red Sea.
21 A terra estremeceu com o estrondo da sua queda; e do seu grito até ao mar Vermelho se ouviu o som.
22 See, he will come up like an eagle in flight, stretching out his wings against Bozrah: and the hearts of Edom’s men of war on that day will be like the heart of a woman in birth-pains.
22 Eis que, como águia, subirá, e voará, e estenderá as asas sobre Bozra; e o coração dos valentes de Edom, naquele dia, será como o coração da mulher que está em suas dores.
23 About Damascus. Hamath is put to shame, and Arpad; for the word of evil has come to their ears, their heart in its fear is turned to water, it will not be quiet.
23 Contra Damasco. Envergonhou-se Hamate e Arpade e, porquanto ouviram más novas, desmaiaram; no mar há angústia; não se pode sossegar.
24 Damascus has become feeble, she is turned to flight, fear has taken her in its grip: pain and sorrows have come on her, as on a woman in birth-pains.
24 Enfraquecida está Damasco; virou as costas para fugir, e tremor a tomou; angústia e dores a tomaram como da mulher que está de parto.
25 How has the town of praise been wasted, the place of joy!
25 Como não está abandonada a afamada cidade, a cidade de meu folguedo?
26 So her young men will be falling in her streets, and all the men of war will be cut off in that day, says the Lord of armies.
26 Portanto, cairão os seus jovens nas suas ruas; e todos os homens de guerra serão consumidos naquele dia, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
27 And I will have a fire lighted on the wall of Damascus, burning up the great houses of Ben-hadad.
27 E acenderei fogo no muro de Damasco, o qual consumirá os palácios de Ben-Hadade.
28 About Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, overcame. This is what the Lord has said: Up! go against Kedar, and make an attack on the children of the east.
28 Contra Quedar e contra os reinos de Hazor, que Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, feriu. Assim diz o SENHOR: Levantai-vos, subi contra Quedar e destruí os filhos do Oriente.
29 Their tents and their flocks they will take; they will take away for themselves their curtains and all their vessels and their camels: they will give a cry to them, Fear on every side.
29 Tomarão as suas tendas, e os seus gados, as suas cortinas, e todos os seus utensílios, e os seus camelos levarão para si; e lhes gritarão: Há medo de todos os lados!
30 Go in flight, go wandering far off, take cover in deep places, O people of Hazor, says the Lord; for Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, has made a design against you, he has a purpose against you in mind.
30 Fugi, desviai-vos para mui longe e habitai nas profundezas, ó moradores de Hazor, diz o SENHOR, porque Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, tomou conselho contra vós e intentou um desígnio contra vós.
31 Up! go against a nation which is living in comfort and without fear of danger, says the Lord, without doors or locks, living by themselves.
31 Levantai-vos e subi contra uma nação em repouso, que habita confiadamente, diz o SENHOR; que não tem portas, nem ferrolhos; eles habitam sós.
32 And their camels will be taken from them by force, and their great herds will come into the hands of their attackers: those who have the ends of their hair cut I will send in flight to all the winds; and I will send their fate on them from every side, says the Lord.
32 E os seus camelos serão para presa, e a multidão dos seus gados, para despojo; e espalharei a todo vento, aqueles que têm cortados os cantos do seu cabelo, e de todos os lados lhes trarei a sua ruína, diz o SENHOR.
33 And Hazor will be a hole for jackals, a waste for ever: no one will be living in it, and no son of man will have a resting-place there.
33 E Hazor se tornará em morada de dragões, em assolação para sempre; ninguém habitará ali, nem morará nela filho de homem.
34 The word of the Lord which came to Jeremiah the prophet about Elam, when Zedekiah first became king of Judah, saying,
34 Palavra do SENHOR que veio a Jeremias, o profeta, contra Elão, no princípio do reinado de Zedequias, rei de Judá, dizendo:
35 This is what the Lord of armies has said: See, I will have the bow of Elam, their chief strength, broken.
35 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Eis que eu quebrarei o arco de Elão, o principal do seu poder.
36 And I will send on Elam four winds from the four quarters of heaven, driving them out to all those winds; there will be no nation into which the wanderers from Elam do not come.
36 E trarei sobre Elão os quatro ventos dos quatro ângulos do céu e os espalharei na direção de todos estes ventos; e não haverá nação aonde não venham os fugitivos de Elão.
37 And I will let Elam be broken before their haters, and before those who are making designs against their lives: I will send evil on them, even my burning wrath, says the Lord; and I will send the sword after them till I have put an end to them:
37 E farei que Elão tema diante de seus inimigos e diante dos que procuram a sua morte; e farei vir sobre eles o mal, o furor da minha ira, diz o SENHOR; e enviarei após eles a espada, até que venha a consumi-los.
38 I will put the seat of my power in Elam, and in Elam I will put an end to kings and rulers, says the Lord.
38 E porei o meu trono em Elão; e destruirei dali o rei e príncipes, diz o SENHOR.
39 But it will come about that, in the last days, I will let the fate of Elam be changed, says the Lord.
39 Acontecerá, porém, no último dos dias, que farei voltar os cativos de Elão, diz o SENHOR.

Jeremiah 50

1 The word which the Lord said about Babylon, about the land of the Chaldaeans, by Jeremiah the prophet.
1 Palavra que falou o SENHOR contra a Babilônia, contra a terra dos caldeus, por Jeremias, o profeta.
2 Give it out among the nations, make it public, and let the flag be lifted up; give the word and keep nothing back; say, Babylon is taken, Bel is put to shame, Merodach is broken, her images are put to shame, her gods are broken.
2 Anunciai entre as nações, e fazei ouvir, e arvorai um estandarte, e fazei ouvir, e não encubrais; dizei: Tomada é a Babilônia, confundido está Bel, atropelado está Merodaque, confundidos estão os seus ídolos, e caídos estão os seus deuses.
3 For out of the north a nation is coming up against her, which will make her land waste and unpeopled: they are in flight, man and beast are gone.
3 Porque subiu contra ela uma nação do Norte, que fará da sua terra uma solidão, e não haverá quem habite nela; desde os homens até os animais fugiram e se foram.
4 In those days and in that time, says the Lord, the children of Israel will come, they and the children of Judah together; they will go on their way weeping and making prayer to the Lord their God.
4 Naqueles dias e naquele tempo, diz o SENHOR, os filhos de Israel virão, eles e os filhos de Judá juntamente; andando e chorando, virão e buscarão ao SENHOR, seu Deus.
5 They will be questioning about the way to Zion, with their faces turned in its direction, saying, Come, and be united to the Lord in an eternal agreement which will be kept in mind for ever.
5 Pelo caminho de Sião perguntarão, para ali dirigirão o rosto; virão e se ajuntarão ao SENHOR num concerto eterno, que nunca será esquecido.
6 My people have been wandering sheep: their keepers have made them go out of the right way, turning them loose on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, having no memory of their resting-place.
6 Ovelhas perdidas foram o meu povo, os seus pastores as fizeram errar, para os montes as deixaram desviar; de monte em outeiro andaram, esqueceram-se do lugar de seu repouso.
7 They have been attacked by all those who came across them: and their attackers said, We are doing no wrong, because they have done evil against the Lord in whom is righteousness, against the Lord, the hope of their fathers.
7 Todos os que as achavam as devoraram; e os seus adversários diziam: Culpa nenhuma teremos; porque pecaram contra o SENHOR e a morada da justiça, sim, o SENHOR, a Esperança de seus pais.
8 Go in flight out of Babylon, go out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and be like he-goats before the flocks.
8 Fugi do meio da Babilônia e saí da terra dos caldeus; e sede como os carneiros diante do rebanho.
9 For see, I am moving and sending up against Babylon a band of great nations from the north country: and they will put their armies in position against her; and from there she will be taken: their arrows will be like those of an expert man of war; not one will come back without getting its mark.
9 Porque eis que eu suscitarei e farei subir contra a Babilônia uma congregação de grandes nações da terra do Norte, e se prepararão contra ela; dali, será tomada; as suas flechas serão como de valente herói; nenhuma tornará sem efeito.
10 And the wealth of Chaldaea will come into the hands of her attackers: all those who take her wealth will have enough, says the Lord.
10 E a Caldéia servirá de presa; todos os que a saquearem ficarão fartos, diz o SENHOR,
11 Because you are glad, because you are lifted up with pride, you wasters of my heritage, because you are playing like a young cow put out to grass, and you make a noise like strong horses;
11 porquanto vos alegrastes, e saltastes de prazer, ó saqueadores da minha herança, e vos inchastes como bezerra gorda, e rinchastes como cavalos vigorosos.
12 Your mother will be put to shame; she who gave you birth will be looked down on: see, she will be the last of the nations, a waste place, a dry and unwatered land.
12 Será mui confundida vossa mãe, ficará envergonhada a que vos deu à luz; eis que ela será a última das nações, um deserto, uma terra seca e uma solidão.
13 Because of the wrath of the Lord no one will be living in it, and it will be quite unpeopled: everyone who goes by Babylon will be overcome with wonder, and make sounds of fear at all her punishments.
13 Por causa do furor do SENHOR, não será habitada; antes, se tornará em total assolação; qualquer que passar por Babilônia se espantará e assobiará, vendo todas as suas pragas.
14 Put your armies in position against Babylon on every side, all you bowmen; let loose your arrows at her, not keeping any back: for she has done evil against the Lord.
14 Preparai-vos para cercar Babilônia, todos os que armais arcos; atirai-lhe, não poupeis as flechas, porque pecou contra o SENHOR.
15 Give a loud cry against her on every side; she has given herself up, her supports are overturned, her walls are broken down: for it is the payment taken by the Lord; give her payment; as she has done, so do to her.
15 Gritai contra ela, rodeando-a; ela já se submeteu; caíram seus fundamentos, estão derribados os seus muros, porque esta é a vingança do SENHOR; vingai-vos dela; como ela fez, fazei-lhe.
16 Let the planter of seed be cut off from Babylon, and everyone using the curved blade at the time of the grain-cutting: for fear of the cruel sword, everyone will be turned to his people, everyone will go in flight to his land.
16 Arrancai da Babilônia aquele que semeia e aquele que leva a foice no tempo da sega; por causa da espada aflitiva, virar-se-á cada um para o seu povo e fugirá cada um para a sua terra.
17 Israel is a wandering sheep; the lions have been driving him away: first he was attacked by the king of Assyria, and now his bones have been broken by Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon.
17 Cordeiro desgarrado é Israel; os leões o afugentaram. O primeiro a devorá-lo foi o rei da Assíria; e, por último, Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, lhe quebrou os ossos.
18 So this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: See, I will send punishment on the king of Babylon and on his land, as I have given punishment to the king of Assyria.
18 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que visitarei o rei da Babilônia e a sua terra, como visitei o rei da Assíria.
19 And I will make Israel come back to his resting-place, and he will get his food on Carmel and Bashan, and have his desire in full measure on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.
19 E farei tornar Israel para a sua morada e pastará no Carmelo e em Basã; e fartar-se-á a sua alma no monte de Efraim e em Gileade.
20 In those days and in that time, says the Lord, when the evil-doing of Israel is looked for, there will be nothing; and in Judah no sins will be seen: for I will have forgiveness for those whom I will keep safe.
20 Naqueles dias e naquele tempo, diz o SENHOR, buscar-se-á a maldade de Israel e não será achada; e os pecados de Judá, mas não se acharão, porque perdoarei os que eu deixar de resto.
21 Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the people of Pekod; put them to death and send destruction after them, says the Lord, and do everything I have given you orders to do.
21 Sobe contra a terra de Merataim, sobe contra ela e contra os moradores de Pecode; assola e inteiramente destrói tudo após eles, diz o SENHOR, e faze conforme tudo o que te mandei.
22 There is a sound of war in the land and of great destruction.
22 Estrondo de batalha há na terra e de grande destruição.
23 How is the hammer of all the earth cut in two and broken! how has Babylon become a waste among the nations!
23 Como foi cortado e quebrado o martelo de toda a terra! Como se tornou a Babilônia em espanto entre as nações!
24 I have put a net for you, and you have been taken, O Babylon, without your knowledge: you have been uncovered and taken because you were fighting against the Lord.
24 Laços te armei, e também foste presa, ó Babilônia, e tu não o soubeste; foste achada e também apanhada, porque contra o SENHOR te entremeteste.
25 From his store-house the Lord has taken the instruments of his wrath: for the Lord, the Lord of armies, has a work to do in the land of the Chaldaeans.
25 O SENHOR abriu o seu tesouro e tirou os instrumentos da sua indignação, porque o Senhor JEOVÁ dos Exércitos, tem uma obra a realizar na terra dos caldeus.
26 Come up against her one and all, let her store-houses be broken open: make her into a mass of stones, give her to the curse, till there is nothing of her to be seen.
26 Vinde contra ela dos confins da terra, abri os seus celeiros, trilhai-a como a feixes e destruí-a de todo; nada lhe fique de resto.
27 Put all her oxen to the sword; let them go down to death: sorrow is theirs, for their day has come, the time of their punishment.
27 Matai à espada a todos os seus novilhos, que eles desçam ao degoladouro; ai deles! Porque veio o seu dia, o tempo da sua visitação.
28 The voice of those who are in flight, who have got away safe from the land of Babylon, to give news in Zion of punishment from the Lord our God, even payment for his Temple.
28 Tal é a voz dos que fugiram e escaparam da terra da Babilônia para anunciarem em Sião a vingança do SENHOR, nosso Deus, a vingança do seu templo.
29 Send for the archers to come together against Babylon, all the bowmen; put up your tents against her on every side; let no one get away: give her the reward of her work; as she has done, so do to her: for she has been uplifted in pride against the Lord, against the Holy One of Israel.
29 Convocai contra Babilônia os flecheiros, todos os que armam arcos; acampai-vos contra ela em redor, que ninguém escape dela; pagai-lhe conforme a sua obra; conforme tudo o que fez, fazei-lhe; porque se houve arrogantemente contra o SENHOR, contra o Santo de Israel.
30 For this cause her young men will be falling in her streets, and all her men of war will be cut off in that day, says the Lord.
30 Portanto, cairão os seus jovens nas suas ruas; e todos os seus homens de guerra serão desarraigados naquele dia, diz o SENHOR.
31 See, I am against you, O pride, says the Lord, the Lord of armies, for your day has come, the time when I will send punishment on you.
31 Eis que eu sou contra ti, ó soberbo, diz o SENHOR Deus dos Exércitos, porque veio o teu dia, o tempo em que te hei de visitar.
32 And pride will go with uncertain steps and have a fall, and there will be no one to come to his help: and I will put a fire in his towns, burning up everything round about him.
32 Então, tropeçará o soberbo e cairá, e ninguém haverá que o levante; e porei fogo às suas cidades, o qual consumirá todos os seus contornos.
33 This is what the Lord of armies has said: The children of Israel and the children of Judah are crushed down together: all those who took them prisoner keep them in a tight grip; they will not let them go.
33 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá foram oprimidos juntamente; todos os que os levaram cativos os retiveram e não os quiseram soltar.
34 Their saviour is strong; the Lord of armies is his name: he will certainly take up their cause, so that he may give rest to the earth and trouble to the people of Babylon.
34 Mas o seu Redentor é forte, o SENHOR dos Exércitos é o seu nome; certamente, pleiteará a causa deles, para dar descanso à terra e inquietar os moradores da Babilônia.
35 A sword is on the Chaldaeans, says the Lord, and on the people of Babylon, and on her rulers and on her wise men.
35 A espada virá sobre os caldeus, diz o SENHOR, e sobre os moradores da Babilônia, e sobre os seus príncipes, e sobre os seus sábios.
36 A sword is on the men of pride, and they will become foolish: a sword is on her men of war, and they will be broken.
36 A espada virá sobre os mentirosos, e ficarão insensatos; a espada virá sobre os seus valentes, e desmaiarão.
37 A sword is on all the mixed people in her, and they will become like women: a sword is on her store-houses, and they will be taken by her attackers.
37 A espada virá sobre os seus cavalos, e sobre os seus carros, e sobre todo o povo misto que está no meio dela; e eles serão como mulheres; a espada virá sobre os seus tesouros, e serão saqueados.
38 A sword is on her waters, drying them up; for it is a land of images, and their minds are fixed on false gods.
38 Cairá a seca sobre as suas águas, e secarão, porque é uma terra de imagens de escultura, e eles, pelos seus ídolos, andam enfurecidos.
39 For this reason the beasts of the waste land with the wolves will make their holes there and the ostriches will be living in it: never again will men be living there, it will be unpeopled from generation to generation.
39 Por isso, habitarão nela as feras do deserto, com os animais bravos das ilhas; também habitarão nela os avestruzes; e nunca mais será povoada, nem será habitada de geração em geração.
40 As when Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbouring towns were overturned by God, says the Lord, so no man will be living in it, and no son of man will have a resting-place there.
40 Como quando Deus transtornou a Sodoma e a Gomorra e aos seus vizinhos, diz o SENHOR, assim ninguém habitará ali, nem morará nela filho de homem.
41 See, a people is coming from the north; a great nation and a number of kings will be put in motion from the inmost parts of the earth.
41 Eis que um povo vem do Norte, e uma grande nação e reis poderosos se levantarão dos lados mais remotos da terra.
42 Bows and spears are in their hands; they are cruel and have no mercy; their voice is like the thunder of the sea, and they go on horses; everyone in his place like men going to the fight, against you, O daughter of Babylon.
42 Arco e lança tomarão; eles são cruéis e não conhecem a compaixão; a sua voz bramará como o mar, e eles cavalgarão cavalos, como um homem, apercebido para a batalha, contra ti, ó filha da Babilônia.
43 The king of Babylon has had news of them, and his hands have become feeble: trouble has come on him and pain like the pain of a woman in childbirth.

44 See, he will come up like a lion from the thick growth of Jordan against the resting-place of Teman: but I will suddenly make them go in flight from her; and I will put over her the man of my selection: for who is like me? and who will put forward his cause against me? and what keeper of sheep will keep his place before me?
44 Eis que um como leão subirá da enchente do Jordão contra a morada forte, mas, num momento, o farei correr dali; e ao escolhido porei contra ela, porque quem é semelhante a mim? E quem me citaria a mim? E quem é o pastor que subsistiria perante mim?
45 So give ear to the decision of the Lord which he has made against Babylon, and to his purposes designed against the land of the Chaldaeans; Truly, they will be pulled away by the smallest of the flock; truly, he will make waste their fields with them.
45 Portanto, ouvi o conselho que o SENHOR decretou contra Babilônia e os seus desígnios que intentou contra a terra dos caldeus; certamente, os menores do rebanho os arrastarão; certamente, será assolada a morada deles.
46 At the cry, Babylon is taken! the earth is shaking, and the cry comes to the ears of the nations.
46 Ao estrondo da tomada da Babilônia, estremeceu a terra, e o grito se ouviu entre as nações.

Jeremiah 51

1 The Lord has said: See, I will make a wind of destruction come up against Babylon and against those who are living in Chaldaea;
1 Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que levantarei um vento destruidor contra a Babilônia e contra os que habitam no coração dos que se levantam contra mim.
2 And I will send men to Babylon to make her clean and get her land cleared: for in the day of trouble they will put up their tents against her on every side.
2 E enviarei padejadores contra a Babilônia, que a padejarão e despojarão a sua terra, porque virão contra ela em redor no dia da calamidade.
3 Against her the bow of the archer is bent, and he puts on his coat of metal: have no mercy on her young men, give all her army up to the curse.
3 O flecheiro arme o seu arco contra aquele que arma o seu arco e contra o que presume da sua couraça; e não perdoeis a seus jovens; destruí a todo o seu exército.
4 And the dead will be stretched out in the land of the Chaldaeans, and the wounded in her streets.
4 E mortos cairão na terra dos caldeus e atravessados pelas ruas.
5 For Israel has not been given up, or Judah, by his God, by the Lord of armies; for their land is full of sin against the Holy One of Israel.
5 Porque Israel e Judá não foram abandonados pelo seu Deus, pelo SENHOR dos Exércitos, ainda que a sua terra esteja cheia de culpas perante o Santo de Israel.
6 Go in flight out of Babylon, so that every man may keep his life; do not be cut off in her evil-doing: for it is the time of the Lord’s punishment; he will give her her reward.
6 Fugi do meio da Babilônia, e livre cada um a sua alma; não vos destruais a vós na sua maldade, porque este é o tempo da vingança do SENHOR; ele lhe dará a sua recompensa.
7 Babylon has been a gold cup in the hand of the Lord, which has made all the earth overcome with wine: the nations have taken of her wine, and for this cause the nations have gone off their heads.
7 A Babilônia era um copo de ouro na mão do SENHOR, o qual embriagava a toda a terra; do seu vinho beberam as nações; por isso, as nações enlouqueceram.
8 Sudden is the downfall of Babylon and her destruction: make cries of grief for her; take sweet oil for her pain, if it is possible for her to be made well.
8 Num momento, caiu a Babilônia e ficou arruinada; gemei sobre ela, tomai bálsamo para a sua dor; porventura, sarará.
9 We would have made Babylon well, but she is not made well: give her up, and let us go everyone to his country: for her punishment is stretching up to heaven, and lifted up even to the skies.
9 Queríamos sarar a Babilônia, mas ela não sarou; deixai-a, e vá cada um para a sua terra, porque o seu juízo chegou até ao céu e se elevou até às mais altas nuvens.
10 The Lord has made clear our righteousness: come, and let us give an account in Zion of the work of the Lord our God.
10 O SENHOR trouxe a nossa justiça à luz; vinde e contemos em Sião a obra do SENHOR, nosso Deus.
11 Make bright the arrows; take up the body-covers: the Lord has been moving the spirit of the king of the Medes; because his design against Babylon is its destruction: for it is the punishment from the Lord, the payment for his Temple.
11 Alimpai as flechas, preparai perfeitamente os escudos; o SENHOR despertou o espírito dos reis da Média, porque o seu intento contra a Babilônia é para a destruir; pois esta é a vingança do SENHOR, a vingança do seu templo.
12 Let the flag be lifted up against the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, put the watchmen in their places, make ready a surprise attack: for it is the Lord’s purpose, and he has done what he said about the people of Babylon.
12 Arvorai um estandarte sobre os muros de Babilônia, reforçai a guarda, colocai sentinelas e preparai as ciladas; porque o SENHOR intentou e fez o que tinha dito acerca dos moradores da Babilônia.
13 O you whose living-place is by the wide waters, whose stores are great, your end is come, your evil profit is ended.
13 Ó tu que habitas sobre muitas águas, rica de tesouros! Chegou o teu fim, a medida da tua avareza.
14 The Lord of armies has taken an oath by himself, saying, Truly, I will make you full with men as with locusts, and their voices will be loud against you.
14 Jurou o SENHOR dos Exércitos por si mesmo, dizendo: Certamente, te encherei de homens, como de pulgão, e eles cantarão com júbilo sobre ti.
15 He has made the earth by his power, he has made the world strong in its place by his wisdom, and by his wise design the heavens have been stretched out:
15 Ele fez a terra com o seu poder, e ordenou o mundo com a sua sabedoria, e estendeu os céus com o seu entendimento.
16 At the sound of his voice there is a massing of the waters in the heavens, and he makes the mists go up from the ends of the earth; he makes the thunder-flames for the rain and sends out the wind from his store-houses.
16 Fazendo ele ouvir a sua voz, grande estrondo de águas há nos céus, e sobem os vapores desde o fim da terra; faz os relâmpagos com a chuva e tira o vento dos seus tesouros.
17 Then every man becomes like a beast without knowledge; every gold-worker is put to shame by the image he has made: for his metal image is deceit, and there is no breath in them.
17 Embruteceu-se todo homem e não tem ciência; envergonhou-se todo ourives de imagem de escultura, porque a sua imagem de fundição é mentira, e não há espírito em nenhuma delas.
18 They are nothing, a work of error: in the time of their punishment, destruction will overtake them.
18 Vaidade são e obra de enganos; no tempo em que eu as visitar, perecerão.
19 The heritage of Jacob is not like these; for the maker of all things is his heritage: the Lord of armies is his name.
19 Não é semelhante a estes a porção de Jacó, porque ele é o Criador de todas as coisas, e Israel é a tribo da sua herança; o SENHOR dos Exércitos é o seu nome.
20 You are my fighting axe and my instrument of war: with you the nations will be broken; with you kingdoms will be broken;
20 Tu és meu martelo e minhas armas de guerra; e contigo despedaçarei nações e contigo destruirei os reis;
21 With you the horse and the horseman will be broken; with you the war-carriage and he who goes in it will be broken;
21 e contigo despedaçarei o cavalo e o seu cavaleiro; e contigo despedaçarei o carro e o que vai nele;
22 With you man and woman will be broken; with you the old man and the boy will be broken; with you the young man and the virgin will be broken;
22 e contigo despedaçarei o homem e a mulher; e contigo despedaçarei o velho e o moço; e contigo despedaçarei o jovem e a virgem;
23 With you the keeper of sheep with his flock will be broken, and with you the farmer and his oxen will be broken, and with you captains and rulers will be broken.

24 And I will give to Babylon, and to all the people of Chaldaea, their reward for all the evil they have done in Zion before your eyes, says the Lord.
24 E pagarei à Babilônia e a todos os moradores da Caldéia toda a maldade que fizeram em Sião, à vossa vista, diz o SENHOR.
25 See, I am against you, says the Lord, O mountain of destruction, causing the destruction of all the earth: and my hand will be stretched out on you, rolling you down from the rocks, and making you a burned mountain.
25 Diz o SENHOR: Eis-me aqui contra ti, ó monte destruidor, que destróis toda a terra; e estenderei a mão contra ti, e te revolverei das rochas, e farei de ti um monte de incêndio.
26 And they will not take from you a stone for the angle of a wall or the base of a building; but you will be a waste place for ever, says the Lord.
26 E não tomarão de ti pedra para esquina, nem pedra para fundamentos, porque te tornarás numa assolação perpétua, diz o SENHOR.
27 Let a flag be lifted up in the land, let the horn be sounded among the nations, make the nations ready against her; get the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz together against her, make ready a scribe against her; let the horses come up against her like massed locusts.
27 Arvorai um estandarte na terra, tocai a buzina entre as nações, santificai as nações contra ela e convocai contra ela os reinos de Ararate, Mini e Asquenaz; ordenai contra ela um capitão, fazei subir cavalos, como pulgão agitado.
28 Make the nations ready for war against her, the king of the Medes and his rulers and all his captains, and all the land under his rule.
28 Santificai contra ela as nações, os reis da Média, os seus capitães, todos os seus magistrados e toda a terra do seu domínio.
29 And the land is shaking and in pain: for the purposes of the Lord are fixed, to make the land of Babylon an unpeopled waste.
29 Então, tremerá a terra e doer-se-á, porque cada um dos desígnios do SENHOR está firme contra Babilônia, para fazer da terra de Babilônia uma assolação, sem habitantes.
30 Babylon’s men of war have kept back from the fight, waiting in their strong places; their strength has given way, they have become like women: her houses have been put on fire, her locks are broken.
30 Os valentes de Babilônia cessaram de pelejar, ficaram nas fortalezas, desfaleceu a sua força, tornaram-se como mulheres; incendiaram as suas moradas, quebrados foram os seus ferrolhos.
31 One man, running, will give word to another, and one who goes with news will be handing it on to another, to give word to the king of Babylon that his town has been taken from every quarter:
31 Um correio correrá ao encontro de outro correio, e um mensageiro, ao encontro de outro mensageiro, para anunciar ao rei da Babilônia que a sua cidade foi tomada de todos os lados.
32 And the ways across the river have been taken, and the water-holes…burned with fire, and the men of war are in the grip of fear.
32 E os vaus estão ocupados, e os canaviais, queimados; e os homens de guerra ficaram assombrados.
33 For these are the words of the Lord of armies, the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon is like a grain-floor when it is stamped down; before long, the time of her grain-cutting will come.
33 Porque assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: A filha de Babilônia é como uma eira no tempo da debulha; ainda um pouco, e o tempo da sega lhe virá.
34 Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, has made a meal of me, violently crushing me, he has made me a vessel with nothing in it, he has taken me in his mouth like a dragon, he has made his stomach full with my delicate flesh, crushing me with his teeth.
34 Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, me devorou, pisou-me, fez de mim um vaso vazio, como dragão me tragou, encheu o seu ventre das minhas delicadezas e lançou-me fora.
35 May the violent things done to me, and my downfall, come on Babylon, the daughter of Zion will say; and, May my blood be on the people of Chaldaea, Jerusalem will say.
35 A violência que se me fez a mim e à minha carne venha sobre a Babilônia, diga a moradora de Sião; e o meu sangue caia sobre os moradores da Caldéia, diga Jerusalém.
36 For this reason the Lord has said: See, I will give support to your cause, and take payment for what you have undergone; I will make her sea dry, and her fountain without water.
36 Pelo que assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que pleitearei a tua causa e te vingarei da vingança que se tomou contra ti; secarei o seu mar e farei que se esgote o seu manancial.
37 And Babylon will become a mass of broken walls, a hole for jackals, a cause of wonder and surprise, without a living man in it.
37 E Babilônia se tornará em montões, morada de dragões, espanto e assobio, sem um só habitante.
38 They will be crying out together like lions, their voices will be like the voices of young lions.
38 Juntamente, rugirão como filhos dos leões, bramarão como filhotes de leões.
39 When they are heated, I will make a feast for them, and overcome them with wine, so that they may become unconscious, sleeping an eternal sleep without awaking, says the Lord.
39 Estando eles excitados, lhes darei a sua bebida e os embriagarei, para que andem saltando; mas dormirão um perpétuo sono e não acordarão, diz o SENHOR.
40 I will make them go down to death like lambs, like he-goats together.
40 Fá-los-ei descer como cordeiros ao matadouro, como carneiros com os bodes.
41 How is Babylon taken! and the praise of all the earth surprised! how has Babylon become a cause of wonder among the nations!
41 Como foi tomada Sesaque, e apanhada de surpresa a glória de toda a terra! Como se tornou Babilônia um espanto entre as nações!
42 The sea has come up over Babylon; she is covered with the mass of its waves.
42 O mar subiu sobre Babilônia, com a multidão das suas ondas se cobriu.
43 Her towns have become a waste, a dry and unwatered land, where no man has his living-place and no son of man goes by.
43 Tornaram-se as suas cidades em assolação, terra seca e deserta, terra em que ninguém habita, nem passa por ela filho de homem.
44 And I will send punishment on Bel in Babylon, and take out of his mouth what went into it; no longer will the nations be flowing together to him: truly, the wall of Babylon will come down.
44 E visitarei a Bel na Babilônia e tirarei da sua boca o que ele tragou, e nunca mais concorrerão a ele as nações; também o muro de Babilônia caiu.
45 My people, go out from her, and let every man get away safe from the burning wrath of the Lord.
45 Saí do meio dela, ó povo meu, e livre cada um a sua alma, por causa do ardor da ira do SENHOR.
46 So that your hearts may not become feeble and full of fear because of the news which will go about in the land; for a story will go about one year, and after that in another year another story, and violent acts in the land, ruler against ruler.
46 E não se enterneça o vosso coração, nem temais pelo rumor que se ouvir na terra; porque virá, num ano, um rumor, e depois, noutro ano, outro rumor; e haverá violência na terra, dominador contra dominador.
47 For this cause, truly, the days are coming when I will send punishment on the images of Babylon, and all her land will be shamed, and her dead will be falling down in her.
47 Portanto, eis que vêm dias em que visitarei as imagens de escultura da Babilônia, e toda a sua terra será envergonhada, e todos os seus traspassados cairão no meio dela.
48 And the heaven and the earth and everything in them, will make a song of joy over Babylon: for those who make her waste will come from the north, says the Lord.
48 E os céus e a terra, com tudo quanto neles há, jubilarão sobre a Babilônia, porque do Norte lhe virão os destruidores, diz o SENHOR.
49 As Babylon had the dead of Israel put to the sword, so in Babylon the dead of all the land will be stretched out.
49 Como Babilônia fez cair os traspassados de Israel, assim em Babilônia cairão os traspassados de toda a terra.
50 You who have got away safe from the sword, go, waiting for nothing; have the Lord in memory when you are far away, and keep Jerusalem in mind.
50 Vós que escapastes da espada, ide-vos, não pareis; de longe, lembrai-vos do SENHOR, e suba Jerusalém ao vosso coração.
51 We are shamed because bitter words have come to our ears; our faces are covered with shame: for men from strange lands have come into the holy places of the Lord’s house.
51 Direis: Envergonhados estamos, porque ouvimos opróbrio; vergonha cobriu o nosso rosto, porque vieram estrangeiros sobre os santuários da Casa do SENHOR.
52 For this reason, see, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will send punishment on her images; and through all her land the wounded will be crying out in pain.
52 Portanto, eis que vêm dias, diz o SENHOR, em que visitarei as suas imagens de escultura; e gemerá o traspassado em toda a sua terra.
53 Even if Babylon was lifted up to heaven, even if she had the high places of her strength shut in with walls, still I would send against her those who will make her waste, says the Lord.
53 Ainda que a Babilônia subisse aos céus, e ainda que fortificasse a altura da sua fortaleza, de mim viriam destruidores sobre ela, diz o SENHOR.
54 There is the sound of a cry from Babylon, and of a great destruction from the land of the Chaldaeans:
54 O som de um clamor se ouve da Babilônia e de grande destruição, da terra dos caldeus;
55 For the Lord is making Babylon waste, and putting an end to the great voice coming out of her; and her waves are thundering like great waters, their voice is sounding loud:
55 porque o SENHOR destrói Babilônia e fará perecer nela a sua grande voz; e as suas ondas bramirão como muitas águas; ouvir-se-á o arruído da sua voz.
56 For the waster has come on her, even on Babylon, and her men of war are taken, their bows are broken: for the Lord is a rewarding God, and he will certainly give payment.
56 Porque o destruidor vem sobre ela, sobre Babilônia, e os seus valentes serão presos; já estão quebrados os seus arcos, porque o SENHOR, Deus das recompensas, certamente, lhe retribuirá.
57 And I will make her chiefs and her wise men, her rulers and her captains and her men of war, overcome with wine; their sleep will be an eternal sleep without awaking, says the King; the Lord of armies is his name.
57 E embriagarei os seus príncipes, e os seus sábios, e os seus capitães, e os seus magistrados, e os seus valentes; e dormirão um sono perpétuo e não acordarão, diz o Rei cujo nome é o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
58 The Lord of armies has said: The wide walls of Babylon will be completely uncovered and her high doorways will be burned with fire; so peoples keep on working for nothing, and the weariness of nations comes to an end in the smoke.
58 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Os largos muros de Babilônia totalmente serão derribados, e as suas portas excelsas serão abrasadas pelo fogo; e trabalharão os povos em vão, e as nações serão para o fogo e cansar-se-ão.
59 The order which Jeremiah the prophet gave to Seraiah, the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah, the king of Judah, to Babylon in the fourth year of his rule. Now Seraiah was the chief controller of the house.
59 A palavra que mandou Jeremias, o profeta, a Seraías, filho de Nerias, filho de Maaséias, indo ele com Zedequias, rei de Judá, à Babilônia, no ano quarto do seu reinado; e Seraías era um príncipe pacífico.
60 And Jeremiah put in a book all the evil which was to come on Babylon.
60 Escreveu, pois, Jeremias num livro todo o mal que havia de vir sobre a Babilônia; todas estas palavras que estavam escritas contra a Babilônia.
61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When you come to Babylon, see that you give them all these words;
61 E disse Jeremias a Seraías: Em tu chegando a Babilônia, verás e lerás todas estas palavras.
62 And after reading them, say, O Lord, you have said about this place that it is to be cut off, so that no one will be living in it, not a man or a beast, but it will be unpeopled for ever.
62 E dirás: SENHOR! Tu falaste a respeito deste lugar, que o havias de desarraigar, até não ficar nele morador algum, desde o homem até ao animal, mas que se tornaria em perpétuas assolações.
63 And it will be that, when you have come to an end of reading this book, you are to have a stone fixed to it, and have it dropped into the Euphrates:
63 E será que, acabando tu de ler este livro, o atarás a uma pedra e o lançarás no meio do Eufrates.
64 And you are to say, So Babylon will go down, never to be lifted up again, because of the evil which I will send on her: and weariness will overcome them. So far, these are the words of Jeremiah.
64 E dirás: Assim será afundada a Babilônia e não se levantará, por causa do mal que eu hei de trazer sobre ela; eles se cansarão. Até aqui as palavras de Jeremias.

Jeremiah 52

1 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king; he was king for eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
1 Era Zedequias da idade de vinte e um anos quando começou a reinar e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém; e o nome de sua mãe era Hamutal, filha de Jeremias, de Libna.
2 And he did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as Jehoiakim had done.
2 E fez o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR, conforme tudo o que fizera Jeoaquim.
3 And because of the wrath of the Lord this came about in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had sent them away from before him: and Zedekiah took up arms against the king of Babylon.
3 Por esta razão, sucedeu que, por causa da ira do SENHOR contra Jerusalém e Judá, ele os lançou fora da sua presença; e Zedequias se rebelou contra o rei da Babilônia.
4 And in the ninth year of his rule, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, came against Jerusalem with all his army and took up his position before it, building earthworks all round it.
4 E aconteceu, no ano nono do seu reinado, no mês décimo, no décimo dia do mês, que veio Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, contra Jerusalém, ele e todo o seu exército, e se acamparam contra ela e levantaram contra ela tranqueiras ao redor.
5 So the town was shut in by their forces till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
5 Assim esteve cercada a cidade, até ao ano undécimo do rei Zedequias.
6 In the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the store of food in the town was almost gone, so that there was no food for the people of the land.
6 No mês quarto, aos nove do mês, quando a fome prevalecia na cidade, e o povo da terra não tinha pão,
7 Then an opening was made in the wall of the town, and all the men of war went in flight out of the town by night through the doorway between the two walls which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldaeans were stationed round the town:) and they went by the way of the Arabah.
7 foi aberta uma brecha na cidade, e todos os homens de guerra fugiram, e saíram de noite, pelo caminho da porta, entre os dois muros que estavam junto ao jardim do rei (porque os caldeus estavam contra a cidade ao redor), e foram pelo caminho da campina.
8 And the Chaldaean army went after King Zedekiah and overtook him on the other side of Jericho, and all his army went in flight from him in every direction.
8 Mas o exército dos caldeus seguiu o rei, e alcançaram Zedequias nas campinas de Jericó, e todo o seu exército se espalhou, abandonando-o.
9 Then they made the king a prisoner and took him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath to be judged.
9 E prenderam o rei e o fizeram subir ao rei da Babilônia, a Ribla, na terra de Hamate, o qual lhe lavrou ali a sentença.
10 And the king of Babylon put the sons of Zedekiah to death before his eyes: and he put to death all the rulers of Judah in Riblah.
10 E o rei da Babilônia degolou os filhos de Zedequias à sua vista e também degolou a todos os príncipes de Judá, em Ribla.
11 And he put out Zedekiah’s eyes; and the king of Babylon, chaining him in iron bands, took him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.
11 E arrancou os olhos a Zedequias e o atou com duas cadeias de bronze; e o rei da Babilônia o levou para a Babilônia e o conservou na prisão até o dia da sua morte.
12 Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, a servant of the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem.
12 E, no quinto mês, no décimo dia do mês (este era o décimo nono ano do rei Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia), veio Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, que assistia na presença do rei da Babilônia, a Jerusalém.
13 And he had the house of the Lord and the king’s house and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burned with fire:
13 E queimou a Casa do SENHOR, e a casa do rei, e também a todas as casas de Jerusalém, e incendiou todas as casas dos grandes.
14 And the walls round Jerusalem were broken down by the Chaldaean army which was with the captain.
14 E todo o exército dos caldeus que estavam com o capitão da guarda derribou todos os muros que rodeavam Jerusalém.
15 Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, took away as prisoners the rest of the people who were still in the town, and those who had given themselves up to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the workmen.
15 E os mais pobres do povo, e a parte do povo que tinha ficado na cidade, e os rebeldes que se haviam passado para o rei da Babilônia, e o resto da multidão, Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, levou presos.
16 But Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, let the poorest of the land go on living there, to take care of the vines and the fields.
16 Mas dos mais pobres da terra deixou Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, ficar alguns, para serem vinhateiros e lavradores.
17 And the brass pillars which were in the house of the Lord, and the wheeled bases and the great brass water-vessel in the house of the Lord, were broken up by the Chaldaeans, who took all the brass away to Babylon.
17 Quebraram mais os caldeus as colunas de bronze que estavam na Casa do SENHOR, e as bases, e o mar de bronze que estavam na Casa do SENHOR e levaram todo o bronze para a Babilônia.
18 And the pots and the spades and the scissors for the lights and the spoons, and all the brass vessels used in the Lord’s house, they took away.
18 Também tomaram os caldeirões, e as pás, e os garfos, e as bacias, e os perfumadores, e todos os utensílios de bronze, com que se ministrava.
19 And the cups and the fire-trays and the basins and the pots and the supports for the lights and the spoons and the wide basins; the gold of the gold vessels, and the silver of the silver vessels, the captain of the armed men took away.
19 E tomou o capitão da guarda os copos, e os incensários, e as bacias, e os caldeirões, e os castiçais, e os perfumadores, e as galhetas, tanto o que era de puro ouro como o que era de prata maciça.
20 The two pillars, the great water-vessel, and the twelve brass oxen which were under it, and the ten wheeled bases, which King Solomon had made for the house of the Lord: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
20 As duas colunas, e o único mar, e os doze bois de bronze que estavam no lugar das bases e que fizera o rei Salomão para a Casa do SENHOR, o bronze de todos estes utensílios era sem medida.
21 And as for the pillars, one pillar was eighteen cubits high, and twelve cubits measured all round, and it was as thick as a man’s hand: it was hollow.
21 Quanto às colunas, a altura de uma coluna era de dezoito côvados, e um fio de doze côvados a cercava; e era a sua espessura de quatro dedos, e era oca.
22 And there was a crown of brass on it: the crown was five cubits high, circled with a network and apples all of brass; and the second pillar had the same.
22 E havia sobre ela um capitel de bronze, e altura do capitel era de cinco côvados, e a rede e as romãs em roda do capitel; e tudo era de bronze; e semelhante a esta era a outra coluna, com as romãs.
23 There were ninety-six apples on the outside; the number of apples all round the network was a hundred.
23 E havia noventa e seis romãs em cada banda; as romãs todas eram um cento, em roda da rede.
24 And the captain of the armed men took Seraiah, the chief priest, and Zephaniah, the second priest, and the three door-keepers;
24 Levou também o capitão da guarda a Seraías, o sumo-sacerdote, e a Sofonias, o segundo sacerdote, e aos três guardas do umbral da porta.
25 And from the town he took the unsexed servant who was over the men of war, and seven of the king’s near friends who were in the town, and the scribe of the captain of the army, who was responsible for getting the people of the land together in military order, and sixty men of the people of the land who were in the town.
25 E da cidade levou um eunuco que tinha a seu cargo a gente de guerra, e a sete homens dos que viam a face do rei que se acharam na cidade, como também o escrivão-mor do exército, que registrava o povo da terra para a guerra, e mais sessenta homens do povo da terra que se acharam no meio da cidade.
26 These Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, took with him to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
26 Tomando-os, pois, Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, os trouxe ao rei da Babilônia, a Ribla.
27 And the king of Babylon put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was taken prisoner away from his land.
27 E o rei da Babilônia os feriu e os matou em Ribla, na terra de Hamate; assim Judá foi levado da sua terra para o cativeiro.
28 These are the people whom Nebuchadrezzar took away prisoner: in the seventh year, three thousand and twenty-three Jews:
28 Este é o povo que Nabucodonosor levou cativo no sétimo ano: três mil e vinte e três judeus.
29 And in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he took away as prisoners from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty-two persons:
29 No ano décimo oitavo de Nabucodonosor, ele levou cativas de Jerusalém oitocentas e trinta e duas almas.
30 In the twenty-third year of Nebuchadrezzar, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, took away as prisoners seven hundred and forty-five of the Jews: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.
30 No ano vigésimo terceiro de Nabucodonosor, Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, levou cativos, dentre os judeus, setecentas e quarenta e cinco almas; todas as almas são quatro mil e seiscentas.
31 And in the thirty-seventh year after Jehoiachin, king of Judah, had been taken prisoner, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evil-merodach, king of Babylon, in the first year after he became king, took Jehoiachin, king of Judah, out of prison.
31 Sucedeu, pois, no ano trigésimo sétimo do cativeiro de Joaquim, rei de Judá, no mês duodécimo, aos vinte e cinco do mês, que Evil-Merodaque, rei da Babilônia, no ano primeiro do seu reinado, levantou a cabeça de Joaquim, rei de Judá, e o tirou da casa da prisão;
32 And he said kind words to him and put his seat higher than the seats of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
32 e falou com ele benignamente e pôs o seu trono acima dos tronos dos reis que estavam com ele em Babilônia;
33 And his prison clothing was changed, and he was a guest at the king’s table every day for the rest of his life.
33 e lhe mudou as vestes da sua prisão, e Joaquim comeu pão sempre na sua presença, todos os dias da sua vida.
34 And for his food, the king gave him a regular amount every day till the day of his death, for the rest of his life.
34 E, quanto ao seu tratamento, foi-lhe sempre dado o tratamento comum do rei da Babilônia, a sua porção cotidiana, até o dia da sua morte, todos os dias da sua vida.
