1 Give ear, O my people, to my law; let your ears be bent down to the words of my mouth.
1 Escutai a minha lei, povo meu; inclinai os ouvidos às palavras da minha boca.
2 Opening my mouth I will give out a story, even the dark sayings of old times;
2 Abrirei a boca numa parábola; proporei enigmas da antiguidade,
3 Which have come to our hearing and our knowledge, as they were given to us by our fathers.
3 os quais temos ouvido e sabido, e nossos pais no-los têm contado.
4 We will not keep them secret from our children; we will make clear to the coming generation the praises of the Lord and his strength, and the great works of wonder which he has done.
4 Não os encobriremos aos seus filhos, mostrando à geração futura os louvores do SENHOR, assim como a sua força e as maravilhas que fez.
5 He put up a witness in Jacob, and made a law in Israel; which he gave to our fathers so that they might give knowledge of them to their children;
5 Porque ele estabeleceu um testemunho em Jacó, e pôs uma lei em Israel, e ordenou aos nossos pais que a fizessem conhecer a seus filhos,
6 So that the generation to come might have knowledge of them, even the children of the future, who would give word of them to their children;
6 para que a geração vindoura a soubesse, e os filhos que nascessem se levantassem e a contassem a seus filhos;
7 So that they might put their hope in God, and not let God’s works go out of their minds, but keep his laws;
7 para que pusessem em Deus a sua esperança e se não esquecessem das obras de Deus, mas guardassem os seus mandamentos
8 And not be like their fathers, a stiff-necked and uncontrolled generation; a generation whose heart was hard, whose spirit was not true to God.
8 e não fossem como seus pais, geração contumaz e rebelde, geração que não regeu o seu coração, e cujo espírito não foi fiel para com Deus.
9 The children of Ephraim, armed with bows, were turned back on the day of the fight.
9 Os filhos de Efraim, armados e trazendo arcos, retrocederam no dia da peleja.
10 They were not ruled by God’s word, and they would not go in the way of his law;
10 Não guardaram o concerto de Deus e recusaram andar na sua lei.
11 They let his works go out of their memory, and the wonders which he had made them see.
11 E esqueceram-se das suas obras e das maravilhas que lhes fizera ver,
12 He did great works before the eyes of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.
12 maravilhas que ele fez à vista de seus pais na terra do Egito, no campo de Zoã.
13 The sea was cut in two so that they might go through; the waters were massed together on this side and on that.
13 Dividiu o mar, e os fez passar por ele; fez com que as águas parassem como num montão.
14 In the daytime he was guiding them in the cloud, and all through the night with a light of fire.
14 De dia os guiou com uma nuvem, e toda a noite, com um clarão de fogo.
15 The rocks of the waste land were broken by his power, and he gave them drink as out of the deep waters.
15 Fendeu as penhas no deserto e deu-lhes de beber como de grandes abismos.
16 He made streams come out of the rock; and waters came flowing down like rivers.
16 Fez sair fontes da rocha e fez correr as águas como rios.
17 And they went on sinning against him even more, turning away from the Most High in the waste land;
17 E ainda prosseguiram em pecar contra ele, provocando ao Altíssimo na solidão.
18 Testing God in their hearts, requesting meat for their desire.
18 E tentaram a Deus no seu coração, pedindo carne para satisfazerem o seu apetite.
19 They said bitter words against God, saying, Is God able to make ready a table in the waste land?
19 E falaram contra Deus e disseram: Poderá Deus, porventura, preparar-nos uma mesa no deserto?
20 See, the rock was cut open by his power, so that the water came rushing out, and overflowing streams; is he able to give us bread? is he able to get meat for his people?
20 Eis que feriu a penha, e águas correram dela; rebentaram ribeiros em abundância; poderá também dar-nos pão ou preparar carne para o seu povo?
21 So these things came to the Lord’s ears, and he was angry; and a fire was lighted against Jacob, and wrath came up against Israel;
21 Pelo que o SENHOR os ouviu e se indignou; e acendeu um fogo contra Jacó, e furor também subiu contra Israel,
22 Because they had no faith in God, and no hope in his salvation.
22 porquanto não creram em Deus, nem confiaram na sua salvação,
23 And he gave orders to the clouds on high, and the doors of heaven were open;
23 posto que tivesse mandado às altas nuvens, e tivesse aberto as portas dos céus,
24 And he sent down manna like rain for their food, and gave them the grain of heaven.
24 e fizesse chover sobre eles o maná para comerem, e lhes tivesse dado do trigo do céu.
25 Man took part in the food of strong ones; he sent them meat in full measure.
25 Cada um comeu o pão dos poderosos; ele lhes mandou comida com abundância.
26 He sent an east wind from heaven, driving on the south wind by his power.
26 Fez soprar o vento do Oriente nos céus e trouxe o Sul com a sua força.
27 He sent down meat on them like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the sea,
27 E choveu sobre eles carne como pó, e aves de asas como a areia do mar.
28 And he let it come down into their resting-place, round about their tents.
28 E as fez cair no meio do seu arraial, ao redor de suas habitações.
29 So they had food and were full; for he gave them their desire;
29 Então, comeram e se fartaram bem; pois lhes satisfez o desejo.
30 But they were not turned from their desires; and while the food was still in their mouths,
30 Não refrearam o seu apetite. Ainda lhes estava a comida na boca,
31 The wrath of God came on them, and put to death the fattest of them, and put an end to the young men of Israel.
31 quando a ira de Deus desceu sobre eles, e matou os mais fortes deles, e feriu os escolhidos de Israel.
32 For all this they went on sinning even more, and had no faith in his great wonders.
32 Com tudo isto, ainda pecaram e não deram crédito às suas maravilhas.
33 So their days were wasted like a breath, and their years in trouble.
33 Pelo que consumiu os seus dias na vaidade e os seus anos, na angústia.
34 When he sent death on them, then they made search for him; turning to him and looking for him with care;
34 Pondo-os ele à morte, então, o procuravam; e voltavam, e de madrugada buscavam a Deus.
35 In the memory that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their saviour.
35 E lembravam-se de que Deus era a sua rocha, e o Deus Altíssimo, o seu Redentor.
36 But their lips were false to him, and their tongues were untrue to him;
36 Todavia, lisonjeavam-no com a boca e com a língua lhe mentiam.
37 And their hearts were not right with him, and they did not keep their agreement with him.
37 Porque o seu coração não era reto para com ele, nem foram fiéis ao seu concerto.
38 But he, being full of pity, has forgiveness for sin, and does not put an end to man: frequently turning back his wrath, and not being violently angry.
38 Mas ele, que é misericordioso, perdoou a sua iniqüidade e não os destruiu; antes, muitas vezes desviou deles a sua cólera e não deixou despertar toda a sua ira,
39 So he kept in mind that they were only flesh; a breath which is quickly gone, and will not come again.
39 porque se lembrou de que eram carne, um vento que passa e não volta.
40 How frequently did they go against him in the waste land, and give him cause for grief in the dry places!
40 Quantas vezes o provocaram no deserto e o ofenderam na solidão!
41 Again they put God to the test, and gave pain to the Holy One of Israel.
41 Voltaram atrás, e tentaram a Deus, e duvidaram do Santo de Israel.
42 They did not keep in mind the work of his hand, or the day when he took them from the power of their haters;
42 Não se lembraram do poder da sua mão, nem do dia em que os livrou do adversário;
43 How he had done his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan;

44 So that their rivers were turned to blood, and they were not able to get drink from their streams.

45 He sent different sorts of flies among them, poisoning their flesh; and frogs for their destruction.

46 He gave the increase of their fields to worms, the fruits of their industry to the locusts.

47 He sent ice for the destruction of their vines; their trees were damaged by the bitter cold.
47 Destruiu as suas vinhas com saraiva, e os seus sicômoros, com pedrisco.
48 Ice was rained down on their cattle; thunderstorms sent destruction among the flocks.
48 Também entregou o seu gado à saraiva, e aos coriscos, os seus rebanhos.
49 He sent on them the heat of his wrath, his bitter disgust, letting loose evil angels among them.
49 E atirou para o meio deles, quais mensageiros de males, o ardor da sua ira: furor, indignação e angústia.
50 He let his wrath have its way; he did not keep back their soul from death, but gave their life to disease.
50 Abriu caminho à sua ira; não poupou a alma deles à morte, nem a vida deles à pestilência.
51 He gave to destruction all the first sons of Egypt; the first-fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham;
51 E feriu todo primogênito no Egito, primícias da sua força nas tendas de Cam,
52 But he took his people out like sheep, guiding them in the waste land like a flock.
52 mas fez com que o seu povo saísse como ovelhas e os guiou pelo deserto, como a um rebanho.
53 He took them on safely so that they had no fear; but their haters were covered by the sea.
53 E os guiou com segurança, e não temeram; mas o mar cobriu os seus inimigos.
54 And he was their guide to his holy land, even to the mountain, which his right hand had made his;
54 E conduziu-os até ao limite do seu santuário, até este monte que a sua destra adquiriu,
55 Driving out nations before them, marking out the line of their heritage, and giving the people of Israel their tents for a resting-place.
55 e expulsou as nações de diante deles, e, dividindo suas terras, lhas deu por herança, e fez habitar em suas tendas as tribos de Israel.
56 But they were bitter against the Most High God, testing him, and not keeping his laws;
56 Contudo, tentaram, e provocaram o Deus Altíssimo, e não guardaram os seus testemunhos.
57 Their hearts were turned back and untrue like their fathers; they were turned to one side like a twisted bow.
57 Mas tornaram atrás e portaram-se aleivosamente como seus pais; viraram-se como um arco traiçoeiro,
58 They made him angry with their high places; moving him to wrath with their images.
58 pois lhe provocaram a ira com os seus altos e despertaram-lhe o zelo com as suas imagens de escultura.
59 When this came to God’s ears he was very angry, and gave up Israel completely;
59 Deus ouviu isto e se indignou; e sobremodo aborreceu a Israel,
60 So that he went away from the holy place in Shiloh, the tent which he had put among men;
60 pelo que desamparou o tabernáculo em Siló, a tenda que estabelecera como sua morada entre os homens,
61 And he let his strength be taken prisoner, and gave his glory into the hands of his hater.
61 e deu a sua força ao cativeiro, e a sua glória, à mão do inimigo,
62 He gave his people up to the sword, and was angry with his heritage.
62 e entregou o seu povo à espada, e encolerizou-se contra a sua herança.
63 Their young men were burned in the fire; and their virgins were not praised in the bride-song.

64 Their priests were put to death by the sword, and their widows made no weeping for them.
64 Os seus sacerdotes caíram à espada, e suas viúvas não se lamentaram.
65 Then was the Lord like one awaking from sleep, and like a strong man crying out because of wine.
65 Então, o Senhor despertou como de um sono, como um valente que o vinho excitasse.
66 His haters were turned back by his blows and shamed for ever.
66 E feriu os seus adversários, que fugiram, e os pôs em perpétuo desprezo.
67 And he put the tent of Joseph on one side, and took not the tribe of Ephraim;
67 Além disto, rejeitou a tenda de José e não elegeu a tribo de Efraim.
68 But he took the tribe of Judah for himself, and the mountain of Zion, in which he had pleasure.
68 Antes, elegeu a tribo de Judá, o monte Sião, que ele amava.
69 And he made his holy place like the high heaven, like the earth which is fixed by him for ever.
69 E edificou o seu santuário como aos lugares elevados, como a terra que fundou para sempre.
70 He took David to be his servant, taking him from the place of the flocks;
70 Também elegeu a Davi, seu servo, e o tirou dos apriscos das ovelhas.
71 From looking after the sheep which were giving milk, he took him to give food to Jacob his people, and to Israel his heritage.
71 De após as ovelhas pejadas o trouxe, para apascentar a Jacó, seu povo, e a Israel, sua herança.
72 So he gave them food with an upright heart, guiding them by the wisdom of his hands.
72 Assim, os apascentou, segundo a integridade do seu coração, e os guiou com a perícia de suas mãos.
Psalms 79
1 O God, the nations have come into your heritage; they have made your holy Temple unclean; they have made Jerusalem a mass of broken walls.
1 Ó Deus, as nações entraram na tua herança; contaminaram o teu santo templo; reduziram Jerusalém a montões de pedras.
2 They have given the bodies of your servants as food to the birds of the air, and the flesh of your saints to the beasts of the earth.
2 Deram os cadáveres dos teus servos por comida às aves dos céus e a carne dos teus santos, às alimárias da terra.
3 Their blood has been flowing like water round about Jerusalem; there was no one to put them in their last resting-place.
3 Derramaram o sangue deles como água ao redor de Jerusalém, e não houve quem os sepultasse.
4 We are looked down on by our neighbours, we are laughed at and made sport of by those who are round us.
4 Estamos feitos o opróbrio dos nossos vizinhos, o escárnio e a zombaria dos que estão à roda de nós.
5 How long, O Lord? will you be angry for ever? will your wrath go on burning like fire?
5 Até quando, SENHOR? Indignar-te-ás para sempre? Arderá o teu zelo como fogo?
6 Let your wrath be on the nations who have no knowledge of you, and on the kingdoms who have not made prayer to your name.
6 Derrama o teu furor sobre nações que te não conhecem e sobre os reinos que não invocam o teu nome.
7 For they have taken Jacob for their meat, and made waste his house.
7 Porque devoraram a Jacó e assolaram as suas moradas.
8 Do not keep in mind against us the sins of our fathers; let your mercy come to us quickly, for we have been made very low.
8 Não te lembres das nossas iniqüidades passadas; apressa-te e antecipem-se-nos as tuas misericórdias, pois estamos muito abatidos.
9 Give us help, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; take us out of danger and give us forgiveness for our sins, because of your name.
9 Ajuda-nos, ó Deus da nossa salvação, pela glória do teu nome; e livra-nos e perdoa os nossos pecados, por amor do teu nome.
10 Why may the nations say, Where is their God? Let payment for the blood of your servants be made openly among the nations before our eyes.
10 Por que diriam os gentios: Onde está o seu Deus? Torne-se manifesta entre as nações, à nossa vista, a vingança do sangue derramado dos teus servos.
11 Let the cry of the prisoner come before you; with your strong arm make free the children of death;
11 Chegue à tua presença o gemido dos presos; segundo a grandeza do teu braço, preserva aqueles que estão sentenciados à morte.
12 And give punishment seven times over into the breast of our neighbours for the bitter words which they have said against you, O Lord.
12 E aos nossos vizinhos, deita-lhes no regaço, setuplicadamente, a sua injúria com que te injuriaram, Senhor.
13 So we your people, and the sheep of your flock, will give you glory for ever: we will go on praising you through all generations.
13 Assim, nós, teu povo e ovelhas de teu pasto, te louvaremos eternamente; de geração em geração cantaremos os teus louvores.
Psalms 80
1 Give ear, O Keeper of Israel, guiding Joseph like a flock; you who have your seat on the winged ones, let your glory be seen.

2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, let your strength be awake from sleep, and come as our salvation.

3 Take us back again, O God; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.

5 You have given them the bread of weeping for food; for their drink you have given them sorrow in great measure.

6 You make us a cause of war among our neighbours; our haters are laughing at us among themselves.

7 Take us back again, O God of armies; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.

8 You took a vine out of Egypt: driving out the nations, and planting it in their land.

9 You made ready a place for it, so that it might take deep root, and it sent out its branches over all the land.
9 Preparaste-lhe lugar, e fizeste com que ela aprofundasse raízes; e, assim, encheu a terra.
10 The mountains were covered with its shade, and the great trees with its branches.
10 Os montes cobriram-se com a sua sombra, e como os cedros de Deus se tornaram os seus ramos.
11 It sent out its arms to the Sea, and its branches to the River.

12 Why are its walls broken down by your hands, so that all who go by may take its fruit?

13 It is uprooted by the pigs from the woods, the beasts of the field get their food from it.

14 Come back, O God of armies: from heaven let your eyes be turned to this vine, and give your mind to it,

15 Even to the tree which was planted by your right hand, and to the branch which you made strong for yourself.

16 It is burned with fire; it is cut down: they are made waste by the wrath of your face.

1 Make a song to God our strength: make a glad cry to the God of Jacob.

2 Take up the melody, playing on an instrument of music, even on corded instruments.

3 Let the horn be sounded in the time of the new moon, at the full moon, on our holy feast-day:

6 I took the weight from his back; his hands were made free from the baskets.

8 Give ear, O my people, and I will give you my word, O Israel, if you will only do as I say!

9 There is to be no strange god among you; you are not to give worship to any other god.

10 I am the Lord your God, who took you up from the land of Egypt: let your mouth be open wide, so that I may give you food.
10 Eu sou o SENHOR, teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egito; abre bem a tua boca, e ta encherei.
11 But my people did not give ear to my voice; Israel would have nothing to do with me.
11 Mas o meu povo não quis ouvir a minha voz, e Israel não me quis.
12 So I gave them up to the desires of their hearts; that they might go after their evil purposes.
12 Pelo que eu os entreguei aos desejos do seu coração, e andaram segundo os seus próprios conselhos.
13 If only my people would give ear to me, walking in my ways!
13 Ah! Se o meu povo me tivesse ouvido! Se Israel andasse nos meus caminhos!
14 I would quickly overcome their haters: my hand would be turned against those who make war on them.
14 Em breve eu abateria os seus inimigos e voltaria a minha mão contra os seus adversários.
15 The haters of the Lord would be broken, and their destruction would be eternal.
15 Os que aborrecem ao SENHOR ter-se-lhe-iam sujeitado, e o tempo dele seria eterno.
16 I would give them the best grain for food; you would be full of honey from the rock.
16 E eu o sustentaria com o trigo mais fino e o saciaria com o mel saído da rocha.
Psalms 82
1 God is in the meeting-place of God; he is judging among the gods.
1 Deus está na congregação dos poderosos; julga no meio dos deuses.
2 How long will you go on judging falsely, having respect for the persons of evil-doers? (Selah.)
2 Até quando julgareis injustamente e respeitareis a aparência da pessoa dos ímpios? (Selá)
3 Give ear to the cause of the poor and the children without fathers; let those who are troubled and in need have their rights.
3 Defendei o pobre e o órfão; fazei justiça ao aflito e necessitado.
4 Be the saviour of the poor and those who have nothing: take them out of the hand of the evil-doers.

5 They have no knowledge or sense; they go about in the dark: all the bases of the earth are moved.

1 O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God.

2 For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads.
2 Porque eis que teus inimigos se alvoroçam, e os que te aborrecem levantaram a cabeça.
3 They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place.
3 Astutamente formam conselho contra o teu povo e conspiram contra os teus protegidos.
4 They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man’s memory.

5 For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you:

6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites;
6 As tendas de Edom, dos ismaelitas, de Moabe, dos agarenos,
7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre;
7 de Gebal, de Amom, de Amaleque e a Filístia com os moradores de Tiro.
8 Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.)

9 Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon:

2 The passion of my soul’s desire is for the house of the Lord; my heart and my flesh are crying out for the living God.
2 A minha alma está anelante e desfalece pelos átrios do SENHOR; o meu coração e a minha carne clamam pelo Deus vivo.
3 The little birds have places for themselves, where they may put their young, even your altars, O Lord of armies, my King and my God.
3 Até o pardal encontrou casa, e a andorinha, ninho para si e para a sua prole, junto dos teus altares, SENHOR dos Exércitos, Rei meu e Deus meu.
4 Happy are they whose resting-place is in your house: they will still be praising you. (Selah.)

5 Happy is the man whose strength is in you; in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

1 Lord, you were good to your land: changing the fate of Jacob.

9 Truly, his salvation is near to his worshippers; so that glory may be in our land.

10 Mercy and faith have come together; righteousness and peace have given one another a kiss.

11 Faith comes up from the earth like a plant; righteousness is looking down from heaven.

12 The Lord will give what is good; and our land will give its increase.

13 Righteousness will go before him, making a way for his footsteps.

1 Let your ears be open to my voice, O Lord, and give me an answer; for I am poor and in need.

1 This house is resting on the holy mountain.

9 You have rule over the sea in storm; when its waves are troubled, you make them calm.

10 Rahab was crushed by you like one wounded to death; with your strong arm you put to flight all your haters.

11 Yours are the heavens, and the earth is yours; you have made the world, and everything which is in it.

22 The deceit of those who are against him will not overcome him; he will not be troubled by the sons of evil.

23 I will have those who are against him broken before his face, and his haters will be crushed under my blows.

24 But my faith and my mercy will be with him; and in my name will his horn be lifted up.

30 If his children give up my law, and are not ruled by my decisions;

31 If my rules are broken, and my orders are not kept;
31 se profanarem os meus preceitos e não guardarem os meus mandamentos,
32 Then I will send punishment on them for their sin; my rod will be the reward of their evil-doing.

33 But I will not take away my mercy from him, and will not be false to my faith.

34 I will be true to my agreement; the things which have gone out of my lips will not be changed.

35 I have made an oath once by my holy name, that I will not be false to David.

11 Who has knowledge of the power of your wrath, or who takes note of the weight of your passion?

12 So give us knowledge of the number of our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom.

13 You will put your foot on the lion and the snake; the young lion and the great snake will be crushed under your feet.

14 Because he has given me his love, I will take him out of danger: I will put him in a place of honour, because he has kept my name in his heart.

11 My eyes have seen trouble come on my haters; my ears have news of the fate of the evil-doers who have come up against me.

21 They are banded together against the soul of the upright, to give decisions against those who have done no wrong.

22 But the Lord is my safe resting-place; my God is the Rock where I am safe.

23 And he has made their evil designs come back on themselves, cutting them off in their sin; the Lord our God will put an end to them.

1 O come, let us make songs to the Lord; sending up glad voices to the Rock of our salvation.

18 This will be put in writing for the coming generation, and the people of the future will give praise to the Lord.

22 When the peoples are come together, and the kingdoms, to give worship to the Lord.

24 O Lord, how great is the number of your works! in wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of the things you have made.

25 There is the great, wide sea, where there are living things, great and small, more than may be numbered.

1 O give praise to the Lord; give honour to his name, talking of his doings among the peoples.

8 But he was their saviour because of his name, so that men might see his great power.

9 By his word the Red Sea was made dry: and he took them through the deep waters as through the waste land.

36 And they gave worship to images; which were a danger to them:

37 They even made offerings of their sons and their daughters to evil spirits,

38 And gave the blood of their sons and their daughters who had done no wrong, offering them to the images of Canaan; and the land was made unclean with blood.

39 So they became unclean through their works, going after their evil desires.

40 Then the wrath of the Lord was burning against his people, and he was angry with his heritage.

41 And he gave them into the hands of the nations; and they were ruled by their haters.

42 By them they were crushed, and made low under their hands.

43 Again and again he made them free; but their hearts were turned against his purpose, and they were overcome by their sins.
43 Muitas vezes os livrou; mas eles provocaram-no com o seu conselho e foram abatidos pela sua iniqüidade.
44 But when their cry came to his ears, he had pity on their trouble:
44 Contudo, atentou para a sua aflição, ouvindo o seu clamor.
45 And kept in mind his agreement with them, and in his great mercy gave them forgiveness.

46 He put pity into the hearts of those who made them prisoners.

39 And when they are made low, and crushed by trouble and sorrow,

40 He puts an end to the pride of kings, and sends them wandering in the waste lands where there is no way.

41 But he puts the poor man on high from his troubles, and gives him families like a flock.

42 The upright see it and are glad: the mouth of the sinner is stopped.

15 Let them be ever before the eyes of the Lord, so that the memory of them may be cut off from the earth.

17 As he took pleasure in cursing, so let it come on him; and as he had no delight in blessing, let it be far from him.

18 He put on cursing like a robe, and it has come into his body like water, and into his bones like oil.

2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people, from this time and for ever.

1 When the Lord made a change in Zion’s fate, we were like men in a dream.
1 Quando o SENHOR trouxe do cativeiro os que voltaram a Sião, estávamos como os que sonham.
2 Then our mouths were full of laughing, and our tongues gave a glad cry; they said among the nations, The Lord has done great things for them.
2 Então, a nossa boca se encheu de riso, e a nossa língua, de cânticos; então, se dizia entre as nações: Grandes coisas fez o SENHOR a estes.
3 The Lord has done great things for us; because of which we are glad.

6 Though a man may go out weeping, taking his vessel of seed with him; he will come again in joy, with the corded stems of grain in his arms.

1 If the Lord is not helping the builders, then the building of a house is to no purpose: if the Lord does not keep the town, the watchman keeps his watch for nothing.
1 Se o SENHOR não edificar a casa, em vão trabalham os que edificam; se o SENHOR não guardar a cidade, em vão vigia a sentinela.
2 It is of no use for you to get up early, and to go late to your rest, with the bread of sorrow for your food; for the Lord gives to his loved ones in sleep.
2 Inútil vos será levantar de madrugada, repousar tarde, comer o pão de dores, pois assim dá ele aos seus amados o sono.
3 See, sons are a heritage from the Lord; the fruit of the body is his reward.
3 Eis que os filhos são herança do SENHOR, e o fruto do ventre, o seu galardão.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a man of war, are the children of the young.
4 Como flechas na mão do valente, assim são os filhos da mocidade.
5 Happy is the man who has a good store of them; he will not be put to shame, but his cause will be supported by them against his haters.

1 Happy is the worshipper of the Lord, who is walking in his ways.

2 You will have the fruit of the work of your hands: happy will you be, and all will be well for you.

7 He who gets in the grain has no use for it; and they do not make bands of it for the grain-stems.

3 O Lord, keep a watch over my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

4 Keep my heart from desiring any evil thing, or from taking part in the sins of the evil-doers with men who do wrong: and let me have no part in their good things.
4 Não inclines o meu coração para o mal, nem para se ocupar de coisas más com aqueles que praticam a iniqüidade; e não coma eu das suas delícias.
5 Let the upright give me punishment; and let the god-fearing man put me in the right way; but I will not let the oil of sinners come on my head: when they do evil I will give myself to prayer.
5 Fira-me o justo, será isso uma benignidade; e repreenda-me, será um excelente óleo, que a minha cabeça não rejeitará; porque continuarei a orar a despeito das maldades deles.
6 When destruction comes to their judges by the side of the rock, they will give ear to my words, for they are sweet.
6 Quando os seus juízes forem arremessados da rocha, ouvirão as minhas palavras, pois são agradáveis.
7 Our bones are broken up at the mouth of the underworld, as the earth is broken by the plough.
7 Como quando alguém lavra e sulca a terra, são os nossos ossos espalhados à boca da sepultura.
8 But my eyes are turned to you, O Lord God: my hope is in you; let not my soul be given up to death.

9 Keep me from the net which they have put down for me, and from the designs of the workers of evil.

10 Let the sinners be taken in the nets which they themselves have put down, while I go free.

1 The sound of my cry went up to the Lord; with my voice I made my prayer for grace to the Lord.

2 I put all my sorrows before him; and made clear to him all my trouble.

3 When my spirit is overcome, your eyes are on my goings; nets have been secretly placed in the way in which I go.

4 Looking to my right side, I saw no man who was my friend: I had no safe place; no one had any care for my soul.
4 Olhei para a minha direita e vi; mas não havia quem me conhecesse; refúgio me faltou; ninguém cuidou da minha alma.
5 I have made my cry to you, O Lord; I have said, You are my safe place, and my heritage in the land of the living.

6 Give ear to my cry, for I am made very low: take me out of the hands of my haters, for they are stronger than I.

7 Take my soul out of prison, so that I may give praise to your name: the upright will give praise because of me; for you have given me a full reward.

Psalms 143
1 Let my prayer come to you, O Lord; give ear to my requests for your grace; keep faith with me, and give me an answer in your righteousness;
1 Ó SENHOR, ouve a minha oração! Inclina os ouvidos às minhas súplicas; escuta-me segundo a tua verdade e segundo a tua justiça
2 Let not your servant come before you to be judged; for no man living is upright in your eyes.
2 e não entres em juízo com o teu servo, porque à tua vista não se achará justo nenhum vivente.
3 The evil man has gone after my soul; my life is crushed down to the earth: he has put me in the dark, like those who have long been dead.
3 Pois o inimigo perseguiu a minha alma; abateu-me até ao chão; fez-me habitar na escuridão, como aqueles que morreram há muito.
4 Because of this my spirit is overcome; and my heart is full of fear.

5 I keep in mind the early days of the past, giving thought to all your acts, even to the work of your hands.

7 Be quick in answering me, O Lord, for the strength of my spirit is gone: let me see your face, so that I may not be like those who go down into the underworld.

8 Let the story of your mercy come to me in the morning, for my hope is in you: give me knowledge of the way in which I am to go; for my soul is lifted up to you.
8 Faze-me ouvir a tua benignidade pela manhã, pois em ti confio; faze-me saber o caminho que devo seguir, porque a ti levanto a minha alma.
9 O Lord, take me out of the hands of my haters; my soul is waiting for you.
9 Livra-me, ó SENHOR, dos meus inimigos; porque em ti é que eu me refugio.
10 Give me teaching so that I may do your pleasure; for you are my God: let your good Spirit be my guide into the land of righteousness.
10 Ensina-me a fazer a tua vontade, pois és o meu Deus; guie-me o teu bom Espírito por terra plana.
11 Give me life, O Lord, because of your name; in your righteousness take my soul out of trouble.
11 Vivifica-me, ó SENHOR, por amor do teu nome; por amor da tua justiça, tira a minha alma da angústia.
12 And in your mercy put an end to my haters, and send destruction on all those who are against my soul; for I am your servant.
12 E, por tua misericórdia, desarraiga os meus inimigos e destrói a todos os que angustiam a minha alma, pois sou teu servo.
Psalms 144
1 Praise be to the God of my strength, teaching my hands the use of the sword, and my fingers the art of fighting:
1 Bendito seja o SENHOR, minha rocha, que adestra as minhas mãos para a peleja e os meus dedos para a guerra;
2 He is my strength, and my Rock; my high tower, and my saviour; my keeper and my hope: he gives me authority over my people.
2 benignidade minha e fortaleza minha; alto retiro meu e meu libertador és tu; escudo meu, em quem eu confio, e que me sujeita o meu povo.
3 Lord, what is man, that you keep him in mind? or the son of man that you take him into account?

4 Man is like a breath: his life is like a shade which is quickly gone.

5 Come down, O Lord, from your heavens: at your touch let the mountains give out smoke.

6 With your storm-flames send them in flight: send out your arrows for their destruction.

10 It is God who gives salvation to kings; and who kept his servant David from the wounding sword.

11 Make me free, and take me out of the hands of strange men, in whose mouths are false words, and whose right hand is a right hand of deceit.

12 Our sons are like tall young plants; and our daughters like the shining stones of a king’s house;

13 Our store-houses are full of all good things; and our sheep give birth to thousands and ten thousands in our fields.

14 Our oxen are well weighted down; our cows give birth safely; there is no going out, and there is no cry of sorrow in our open places.

15 Happy is the nation whose ways are so ordered: yes, happy is the nation whose God is the Lord.

Psalms 145
1 Let me give glory to you, O God, my King; and blessing to your name for ever and ever.

2 Every day will I give you blessing, praising your name for ever and ever.

3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; his power may never be searched out.
3 Grande é o SENHOR e muito digno de louvor; e a sua grandeza, inescrutável.
4 One generation after another will give praise to your great acts, and make clear the operation of your strength.

5 My thoughts will be of the honour and glory of your rule, and of the wonder of your works.

10 All the works of your hands give praise to you, O Lord; and your saints give you blessing.

11 Their words will be of the glory of your kingdom, and their talk of your strength;

17 The Lord is upright in all his ways, and kind in all his works.

19 To his worshippers, he will give their desire; their cry comes to his ears, and he gives them salvation.

3 Put not your faith in rulers, or in the son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
3 Não confieis em príncipes nem em filhos de homens, em quem não há salvação.
4 Man’s breath goes out, he is turned back again to dust; in that day all his purposes come to an end.

5 Happy is the man who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

8 The Lord makes open the eyes of the blind; the Lord is the lifter up of those who are bent down; the Lord is a lover of the upright;
8 o SENHOR abre os olhos aos cegos; o SENHOR levanta os abatidos; o SENHOR ama os justos;
9 The Lord takes care of those who are in a strange land; he gives help to the widow and to the child who has no father; but he sends destruction on the way of sinners.
9 o SENHOR guarda os estrangeiros; ampara o órfão e a viúva, mas transtorna o caminho dos ímpios.
10 The Lord will be King for ever; your God, O Zion, will be King through all generations. Praise be to the Lord.

Psalms 147
1 Give praise to the Lord; for it is good to make melody to our God; praise is pleasing and beautiful.

2 The Lord is building up Jerusalem; he makes all the outlaws of Israel come together.

3 He makes the broken-hearted well, and puts oil on their wounds.
3 sara os quebrantados de coração e liga-lhes as feridas;
4 He sees the number of the stars; he gives them all their names.

5 Great is our Lord, and great his power; there is no limit to his wisdom.
5 Grande é o nosso SENHOR e de grande poder; o seu entendimento é infinito.
6 The Lord gives help to the poor in spirit; but he sends sinners down in shame.
6 O SENHOR eleva os humildes e abate os ímpios até à terra.
7 Make songs of praise to the Lord; make melody to our God with instruments of music.
7 Cantai ao SENHOR em ação de graças; cantai louvores ao nosso Deus sobre a harpa.
8 By his hand the heaven is covered with clouds and rain is stored up for the earth; he makes the grass tall on the mountains.
8 Ele é que cobre o céu de nuvens, que prepara a chuva para a terra e que faz produzir erva sobre os montes;
9 He gives food to every beast, and to the young ravens in answer to their cry.
9 que dá aos animais o seu sustento e aos filhos dos corvos, quando clamam.
10 He has no delight in the strength of a horse; he takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
10 Não se deleita na força do cavalo, nem se compraz na agilidade do varão.
11 The Lord takes pleasure in his worshippers, and in those whose hope is in his mercy.
11 O SENHOR agrada-se dos que o temem e dos que esperam na sua misericórdia.
12 Give praise to the Lord, O Jerusalem; give praise to your God, O Zion.
12 Louva, ó Jerusalém, ao SENHOR; louva, ó Sião, ao teu Deus.
13 He has made strong the iron bands of your doors; he has sent blessings on your children inside your walls.
13 Porque ele fortaleceu os ferrolhos das tuas portas; abençoa aos teus filhos dentro de ti.
14 He gives peace in all your land, making your stores full of fat grain.
14 Ele é quem pacifica os teus termos e da flor da farinha te farta;
15 He sends out his orders to the earth; his word goes out quickly.

16 He gives snow like wool; he sends out ice-drops like dust.

17 He sends down ice like raindrops: water is made hard by his cold.

18 At the outgoing of his word, the ice is turned to water; when he sends out his wind, there is a flowing of waters.
18 Manda a sua palavra e os faz derreter; faz soprar o vento, e correm as águas.
19 He makes his word clear to Jacob, teaching Israel his laws and his decisions.
19 Mostra a sua palavra a Jacó, os seus estatutos e os seus juízos, a Israel.
20 He has not done these things for any other nation: and as for his laws, they have no knowledge of them. Let the Lord be praised.

1 Give praise to the Lord. Let the Lord be praised from the heavens: give him praise in the skies.

2 Give praise to him, all you his angels: give praise to him, all his armies.
2 Louvai-o, todos os seus anjos; louvai-o, todos os seus exércitos.

4 Give praise to him, you highest heavens, and you waters which are over the heavens.

8 fogo e saraiva, neve e vapores e vento tempestuoso que executa a sua palavra;
9 Mountains and all hills; fruit-trees and all trees of the mountains:
9 montes e todos os outeiros, árvores frutíferas e todos os cedros;
10 Beasts and all cattle; insects and winged birds:
10 as feras e todos os gados, répteis e aves voadoras;
11 Kings of the earth, and all peoples; rulers and all judges of the earth:
11 reis da terra e todos os povos, príncipes e todos os juízes da terra;
12 Young men and virgins; old men and children:
12 rapazes e donzelas, velhos e crianças.
13 Let them give glory to the name of the Lord: for his name only is to be praised: his kingdom is over the earth and the heaven.
13 Que louvem o nome do SENHOR, pois só o seu nome é exaltado; a sua glória está sobre a terra e o céu.
14 He has put on high the horn of his people, for the praise of all his saints; even the children of Israel, a people which is near to him. Let the Lord be praised.
14 Ele também exalta o poder do seu povo, o louvor de todos os seus santos, dos filhos de Israel, um povo que lhe é chegado. Louvai ao SENHOR!
Psalms 149
1 Let the Lord be praised. Make a new song to the Lord, let his praise be in the meeting of his saints.
1 Louvai ao SENHOR! Cantai ao SENHOR um cântico novo e o seu louvor, na congregação dos santos.
2 Let Israel have joy in his maker; let the children of Zion be glad in their King.
2 Alegre-se Israel naquele que o fez, regozijem-se os filhos de Sião no seu Rei.
3 Let them give praise to his name in the dance: let them make melody to him with instruments of brass and corded instruments of music.
3 Louvem o seu nome com flauta, cantem-lhe o seu louvor com adufe e harpa.
4 For the Lord has pleasure in his people: he gives the poor in spirit a crown of salvation.
4 Porque o SENHOR se agrada do seu povo; ele adornará os mansos com a salvação.
5 Let the saints have joy and glory: let them give cries of joy on their beds.
5 Exultem os santos na glória, cantem de alegria no seu leito.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hands;
6 Estejam na sua garganta os altos louvores de Deus e espada de dois fios, nas suas mãos,
7 To give the nations the reward of their sins, and the peoples their punishment;
7 para tomarem vingança das nações e darem repreensões aos povos,
8 To put their kings in chains, and their rulers in bands of iron;
8 para prenderem os seus reis com cadeias e os seus nobres, com grilhões de ferro;
9 To give them the punishment which is in the holy writings: this honour is given to all his saints. Praise be to the Lord.
9 para fazerem neles o juízo escrito; esta honra, tê-la-ão todos os santos. Louvai ao SENHOR!
Psalms 150
1 Let the Lord be praised. Give praise to God in his holy place: give him praise in the heaven of his power.
1 Louvai ao SENHOR! Louvai a Deus no seu santuário; louvai-o no firmamento do seu poder.
2 Give him praise for his acts of power: give him praise in the measure of his great strength.
2 Louvai-o pelos seus atos poderosos; louvai-o conforme a excelência da sua grandeza.
3 Give him praise with the sound of the horn: give him praise with corded instruments of music.
3 Louvai-o com o som de trombeta; louvai-o com o saltério e a harpa.
4 Give him praise with instruments of brass and in the dance: give him praise with horns and corded instruments.
4 Louvai-o com o adufe e a flauta; louvai-o com instrumento de cordas e com flautas.
5 Give him praise with the loud brass: give him praise with the high-sounding brass.
5 Louvai-o com os címbalos sonoros; louvai-o com címbalos altissonantes.
6 Let everything which has breath give praise to the Lord. Let the Lord be praised.
6 Tudo quanto tem fôlego louve ao SENHOR. Louvai ao SENHOR!
